WhiteHouse.gov second amendment petitions
NorthJersey replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Legislative Alerts and Rallies
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-1986-hughes-amendment The 1986 Hughes amendment (as part of the Firearm Owners Protection Act) is an unconstitutional ban that limits law abiding citizens from owning fully automatic weapons that were manufactured past May 19, 1986. Select fire weapons are already very heavily regulated under the 1934 National Firearms Act which requires you to register your gun and submit a tax stamp. Since 1934 there have only been 2 known homicides committed with a legally owned fully automatic firearm and one of them was caused by a police officer. This law does nothing to prevent crime and it raises the price of legal automatic weapons to a ludicrous price due to supply and demand. Repealing the unconstitutional Hughes amendment will restore our second amendment rights that have been under attack for a very long time. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-nfa We the People wish to see the National Firearms Act of 1934 repealed in order to remove regulations on our 2nd amendment rights, increase national economic strength, and provide protection against threats to our national security. -
Six12 Revolving Shotgun
NorthJersey replied to NorthJersey's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Thanks, gentlemen. -
That thing wouldn't be considered a semi-automatic shotgun any more than a revolver would be considered an automatic pistol, correct?

If no one knows of an August course in north jersey, is anyone interested in car pooling down to Salem? -
New Dates for NJ F & W "Hunter Education" Courses
NorthJersey replied to HBecwithFn7's topic in Hunting, Fishing & More
Thanks for the heads up. I called the Hunter Education line, but it wasn't very helpful. The woman on the line told me to look at the website and lectured me about not being guaranteed to get in as a walk-in. The full classes seem to get pulled from the website pretty quickly, so I'm hoping someone knows about a firearms session before September other than the one three hours away in Salem, NJ (on the Delaware border). -

Actually, it was a high-capacity magazine clip. Duly noted, and corrected. -

" . . . made for murder." I took a survey, and 3/10 of my customers purchase the AR-15 for murder of some sort (government overthrow, domestic violence, "hate crimes," and crimes of affection). Another sixty percent want to "keep their little guns" just so they can feel cool blasting away from the hip like Rambo. The final ten percent shoot paper competively or murder our brothers in the animal kingdom (probably should have binned those results with in the general murder category). -

You mean an extended 16-round magazine clip, filled with cop-killing, armour-piercing (brit. spelling), spread-shot bullets. -

It was a high-capacity military-style double-barreled semi-automatic AR-15 shotgun (shoulder thing that goes up edition). He obtained it through the gun show "loophole." (Lest the media take of this information in the course of a Google search, this statement is pure sardonic satire) -
Purchase new gun or keep buying ammo
NorthJersey replied to MeanderingCuban's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
I'll be happy to help you out. I can easily hook you up with a reliable pistol in any common caliber for under $200. -
Harvard seems to think the journal is peer reviewed (maybe not faculty edited). "These peer reviewed publications . . . " http://www.law.harvard.edu/current/orgs/journals/ The average Washington and Lee ranking of this law review over the past few years was like 30, so its hardly a glorified student newspaper. The Journal has a couple of US Senators and several US Court of Appeals judges as advisors. The Harvard Law Review (often sited as the source of Obama's legal credentials) is an equivalent legal review from Harvard.

The results of a study published in the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy (a conservative peer-reviewed law review) point to a negative correlation between gun ownership and violent crime. The comparison of murder rates in industrialized nations is of particular interest. Check it out: http://www.law.harvard.edu/students/orgs/jlpp/Vol30_No2_KatesMauseronline.pdf An article on Breitbart.com alerted me to this publication, but the Breitbart article incorrectly identifies the research as "a Harvard" study. To be clear, the study was conducted by criminologists external to Harvard, and the results of the study were published by a Harvard scholarly journal.

I'm tempted to turn in my kids' toy guns and use the proceeds to buy them more rimfire ammo.

I just received a quart of 36.8 solution. I'll let you know how it worked after I return from training.

The 36.8 percent concentrate seems like a good deal if you want to make your own. Check out this Amazon review: http://www.amazon.com/review/R21Z2W7YFMTU80/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B005UUZ3OI&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=#wasThisHelpful

Thank you. Maybe I'll apply a little bit of both. I'm going to give the koi pond a wide berth with the cyper, since I believe L50 (dose required to kill half the members of a tested population after a specified time period) after 96 hours is in the low single digit parts per billion for most fish.

Actually, permethrin spray appears to work pretty well. http://www.amazon.com/gp/community-content-search/results/ref=cm_srch_q_pag_rtr_1?ie=UTF8&excerptSize=170&excerpts=true&fo=&idx.all=0&idx.asin=B007VCRX2S&index=community-reviews&page=1&query=ticks&sort= Any chemists, pharmacists, or exterminators out there who want to comment on the efficacy of permethrin vs. cypermethrin as a tick deterrent?

I'm assigned to an NJ National Guard Unit that will be spending two weeks at Niantic, CT (New London and East Lyme area). During this period we will be out in the field for extended periods of time. Soldiers contract Lyme disease during this exercise, and I'm not going to be one of them. My wife still suffers crippling pain six years after getting Lyme disease when we first moved here. She didn't even spend any time outdoors. I know way to many people with terrible joint pain and neurological disorders stemming from Lyme disease to take any risks and "wait to see if symptoms develop." I have a doxycyclene prescription my doc gave me as a preventive measure, but I would rather avoid getting bitten altogether. I have a pound or two of cypermethrin (powdered concentrate form), but I wanted to know if anyone else has any recommendations of other commercial pesticides with mild mammalian toxicity that I can use on my boots, uniform, skin, and equipment. I really wish I could get my hands on DDT. I'll appreciate your feedback.
