  1. no sweat man. i'm all about supporting "us" here on the forums, 'cause we gotta stick together. i'd rather spend my money with fellow gun people than with non-gun people.
  2. that all said........depending on ease, i get around 150 to 250 for front brake service. if it means getting the job, and they're thick enough, i'll cut rotors for that. i try to not cut em though. replacing them they should be about 40-70 each.
  3. it's a honda. take your time, go slow, and you should be ok. safety. do NOT work on the car without putting jackstands under it. set the parking brake, AND chock the rear tires. 12 or 13mm wrench to take off caliper bolts. there'll be a setscrew holding the rotors on. they seize sometimes. soak the crap out of it with wd40. do NOT let the caliper hang by the hose. press piston in slow. clean everything, and grease where pads slide. reassemble. repeat and rinse for other side. WHEN TIRES ARE BACK ON, PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES BEFORE EVEN STARTING ENGINE.
  4. take it to your local mechanic, and get a second opinion. i can't tell you how many people that have come to me with requests for brake jobs, 'cause the dealer said they needed them...and they still had 50% left....... doesn't gtonut own a shop up your way? i'm down in camden county.....but that's a haul from where you're at.
  5. yea, that was what i was figuring. i wasn't looking to refinance for extra money or anything.....just to lower that rate/payment, then pay the shit out of it till it's gone. in theory i can be out from under that payment before i'm 65, which would be late....but i think it's a case of better late than never......
  6. what kind of car. makes a big difference in cost of pads, and whether or not there's enough material on the rotors to cut. are they grinding?
  7. seeing as they're pretty much guaranteeing me a payment of about half of what i'm paying now....and the interest is significantly lower, as i mortgaged the house in 08........i was thinking for the lower payment....but then keep making the same payments i am now, with the balance going to the principle to pay it off faster. i hafta look again to see if it's fixed rate or not, as i don't recall......
  8. good point, as that's how old i was when my dad got himself removed from my moms life.....and i have virtually no memory of the dude. it didn't even phase me when i found out he'd died 19 years ago
  9. technically speaking, isn't the entire nfa thing kinda illegal?
  10. He said he has analyzed the situation and cannot find where his daughter-in-law went wrong. really? REALLY??? how about when she walked away from her purse, letting her gun out of her control? that couldn't be where she went wrong, could it?
  11. i read that it was a smith and wesson m&p "While her son was seated in the shopping cart and Rutledge was within a few feet of the cart, her son accessed Rutledge's concealed 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P Shield semi-automatic handgun from her purse." Miller said the purse was specifically designed for concealed carry of a firearm and was new to her. "The two-year old removed the firearm from the purse and fired one bullet from the pistol," The release said. "The bullet struck Mrs. Rutledge in the head, killing her instantly." from here......http://cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_4b3a48a6-82ac-5f7c-9d56-b943542ff52b.html it's pissing me off that they keep calling it an accident. this was sheer negligence on her part. at no time should a loaded pistol been out of her control. especially around her child.
  12. i'm hoping to hear from some of our "statute geeks". i use that term in a good way, 'cause they seem to know them inside and out. from my understanding, we're not allowed(i friggin hate using that term re this stuff) to have our firearms outside of exemptions. for pistols, my understanding of that, is the range, gunsmith, home, or our fixed place of business, along with direct route to/from those exempted locations. parents home isn't in that list of exemptions. even with their permission. then there's the part where he went into the basement looking. there was no imminent danger till he went down there. i'm shocked that he wasn't charged with something, since he went looking for the intruder, rather than call police, and retreat(since before he went down, they all could've safely retreated. that all said........sounds like the dude did pretty much everything right. by free America standards. also, i'm reading the comments under his post. he's got a lot of support. glad to see that. also also.......why wasn't this in any news?
  13. happy new year dude!! yea, i know they're gonna be all over it. that's why we need to do what you just said, and someone said upthread.....make sure that everyone knows it's an isolated incident. but we can't lie to ourselves, or anyone else about what it really was though.........
  14. yea, it was irresponsible. in a zippered compartment? really? it was loaded and not in her control. if it's loaded it should have been in her control. if it wasn't in her control, then it should've been unloaded. she was negligent and irresponsible to leave it as she did. i still really feel badly for the kid.....he's gonna be scared for life.
  15. it was NOT an accident! she was fucking negligent, irresponsible, and careless. THAT is why she is dead. i don't care if i sound like an asshole or not. had she acted more responsibly, she would be alive, and her two year old son would not be traumatized. and the antis wouldn't have more ammo......
  16. no, it wasn't. it was severe negligence, and carelessness.
  17. hey...i'm gonna do a slight hijak of this thread. i keep getting these "pre-approved" letters in the mail to refinance my home. both for a lower interest than what i'm paying now, and obviously a lower payment.....as in nearly sliced in half. i keep getting calls from my mortgage company for the same thing. the calls are to my cell phone, as that's what they have on file for me.....all say that it's through HARP. my question.........they seem to be trying awefully hard to get me to refinance.....and i know they ain't tryin' to do me any favors. so....what's the catch to stuff like this? are they for real?
  18. this is a ford we're talkin' about. if there's something that can be made more stupid, or more difficult, ford will find a way. i think they hired bmw engineers or something.
  19. might hafta try getting one when i get home tonight.....who you using for transfer? and how much? dammit!!
  20. well this is gonna be fodder for the anti-gunners. that woman was the height of irresponsible, leaving her pistol in such a manner that her child could get it. i feel bad for the kid.........
