  1. Since the TRO and the Law don't mention the official title of any parks or types of parks, I'm going with legal.
  2. According to the Siegel TRO, we can now carry in a " parks, beaches, and recreational facilities/areas". I would consider a wildlife management area to be a recreational facility/area. But wondered if this has specifically been addressed anywhere. Lots of State Parks are functionally identical to WMA's but State Parks include the word "Park" so it's obvious they are included. But it just takes one bad conservation officer, one bad prosecutor, one bad judge, and one bad jury for carrying in a WMA to get you in trouble. I'd like confirmation.
  3. So men really are better at everything - even being a woman. Biden 2024!
  4. Not a lawyer but.... The section above is from section a. The section I attached and that 124gr9mm posted starts with "Notwithstanding the provisions of subsections a. and b". Notwithstanding means "in spite of". So... In spite of the restrictions in A and B, you are still allowed to do the stuff in C even if the stuff in C seems to contradict A and B.
  5. The answer is in the law. See attachment. Starting on page 26, line 38 through page 27, line 13. This section of the law was not blocked by the TRO and is still in effect. final-nj-anti-carry-law-passed-12-22-22.PDF
  6. Email from NJSP to a police officer in another state.
  7. But I'm looking for more than just reciprocity. Can I carry in a restaurant that has less than 50% of it's revenue from alcohol sales? On a playground? Those quirky details of each states laws is what I'm looking for. If I can carry in a particular state, I still need to know where I can and can't carry there.
  8. So, what's the best cell phone app to keep us legal in all 50 states? I have 4 carry permits from 4 different states and I know which states I can carry in. I don't always know what the rules are for each state. Theaters? Restaurants that serve alcohol? Museums? State Parks? Duty to inform? Etc. What app makes it really easy to brush up on each states rules as soon as you cross the border?
  9. 205 days and I picked it up today. NJSP took almost 5 months to get it to the courts. The courts had it when NJ's new law was passed removing the courts from the process - but continued with issuing the permits they had anyway. It was then sent back to NJSP where it only sat for 3 weeks. I expected it to be there for months. No restrictions. Applied for my PA permit in Delco Co. this evening. I bet that will go a little faster.
  10. OP here. Mine was approved by the judge 2/9 (by the way, my application date was 8/6 - I go through NJSP). It was sent back to NJSP on 2/10 so they could give it to me and I'm still waiting. Day 204 - nothing yet. Most of that wait was NJSP sitting on it.
  11. Taking it off the menu for most of the year is smart. I've been lulled in by this trickery. I see an ad and it looks good. I like ribs. So I'm driving past a McDonalds and I pull in to try one. And as soon as I have my first bite I'm reminded that it tastes like it's made with earlobe meat. They've gotten me more than once.
  12. Innocent until proven guilty. And...I think felons should get their rights back after they've completed there sentences. But I'm okay if revocation of certain rights is part of that sentence. But once they are free and clear of whatever sentence they receive, rights should be restored. However, in my ideal world, if they can't be trusted to have their rights restored, they shouldn't be getting out until they can.
  13. Really interesting idea. I think I'd prefer magnets instead though. I can tear open magnets easier than snaps.
  14. Pocket Carry. I do it all the time. The only inconvenience is that I have to remember to put my car keys in the other front pocket.
  15. I own about a dozen handguns. I've got some big and stupid ones like the Taurus Judge, some silly tiny ones like the NAA 22S. I have several .22s - both revolvers and semi autos. I have a couple of carry guns in .380 that I like. I have a few others that serve different purposes. What I don't own is a gun that's just really good at just hitting a target. I qualified for my ccw (still waiting) with a subcompact .380, so I can hit a target with a gun that isn't an ideal target gun but I want a gun that's easy to shoot, gets me back on target quickly, and is a dedicated target gun. I'm finally old enough that I don't feel any need to impress anyone with my superior fire power so .380 is enough for me but 9mm is fine too. I want full size but not especially large. I have a Beretta 92FS. I really love that gun but it's a bit too big for my hands. If it came in a single stack to get the grip width down a little, it would be exactly the gun I'm looking for. So...what's your favorite full size, easy to shoot, nothing fancy, always hits the target handgun?
  16. Called the court today. My permit is in the stack that the court is processing and she estimated that m9y completed permit will be sent to NJSP in about 2 weeks. She also warned me (but I already knew) that she sends it to Trenton where it will languish for weeks or months before being sent to my local barracks for pickup.
  17. Maybe that's right. The directive is here: https://www.njcourts.gov/sites/default/files/notices/2022/12/n221222a.pdf Part reads: Any applications for a permit to carry a handgun currently pending before the Superior Court as of today are to be decided and, if approved, issued by the court. The new law allows judges to rely on the prior approval by law enforcement as the basis for approving these pending applications. L. 2022, c. __. Judges must strive to act on those pending applications within 60 days and should not exceed that 60-day time frame without good cause. Any applications pending with law enforcement are to be decided by the appropriate chief police officer or superintendent. Effective today, any permit to carry application presented to the court will be returned to the law enforcement entity from which it was received. so, if the court has my application but I don't have a hearing yet, am I "pending" or not pending before the courts? I guess I'll call the court tomorrow and see what the status is.
  18. I'm sure this has been discussed and answered here before. So I apologize in advance for not seeing the discussion. But... My permit was approved by NJSP and sent to the courts. The new law was passed after the NJSP approval but before I received a hearing with the court. I saw the directive from the courts (and to the courts) to send all unprocessed applications back to the PD's. I assume my permit was sent back to NJSP and they now have it. What happens now? NJSP far exceeded the statutory 60 days to approve under the old law - the law that was in effect when my permit reached 60 days. So, under the law in effect at the time, I received NJSP approval at the 60 day mark. Two months later, they actually sent it to the courts. The old law was also still in effect when they sent it to the courts. It seems to me that my application doesn't need to comply with the new law - since I was already approved by the PD under the old law. And, they should just print my permit and call me to pick it up. I'm guessing they will make this as difficult as possible and I'll have to start the whole process over again. I haven't received any information about my next steps. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do now?
  19. You're right, there is no extractor. Just a pin that protrudes through when the slide is in the rear position. This pokes one side of the case and flips it out of the way - but it doesn't always work.
  20. The tip up barrel is interesting. They have a reputaiton about being very finicky about ammo and it's true. Mine will stove pipe, fail to extract, or otherwise jamb on every other or every third round if I'm not using CCI mini mags or Blazer. I've taken it out to the range several times and one or two people will try it and after 3 or 4 shots we just put it away. With the two brands of ammo mentioned above, it will still have some sort of failure every couple of magazines. I'm keeping mine but it's not reliable enough to be useful if you actually needed it.
  21. So...the president of the NJPBA, representing the official position of NJ's police officers, expressed support for this bill because he was afraid of losing his position as president of the PBA? What if I publicly endorsed violating other civil rights to keep my job? Should I get a pass?
  22. I checked the MD portal a few times, but not every week. If there was a status change to "assigned" or something similar, I never saw it there. 9/20 applied and fingerprinted on the same day 10/7 rec'd letter that my fingerprint check passed 12/1 rec'd email that my application " has been granted final disposition" and a letter via mail would follow. Checked the portal on the same day and it said "approved". 12/10 rec'd permit via mail.
  23. MD Permit: Applied and fingerprinted 9/31/22 Issued 12/1/22 Rec'd in mail 12/10/32. Something like 71 or 72 days to issue. In related NJ news... I applied for my NJ Permit on 8/6 Rec'd an email from the Superintendent's office that said it was sent to the court on 11/15 (after I sent a letter to his office). Somehow, it took over three weeks for the court to receive it on 12/7 (suspicious) I'm anticipating a hearing the third week of January. If that's correct, I'll be at about 130 days for NJ.
  24. Not all churches are pro gun control. The trustees at my church, and a few other people are discussing passing a resolution to allow carry in our church when the new gun law passes and express permission is required. Waiting to see exactly what the law says before we act. Lots of churches and some denominations believe they are to control the people. A few believe they are to serve the people and trust their congregation as responsible adults.
  25. Followup: Received an email from NJSP today. The email says that my application was sent to the courts 1 day before I wrote my letter. Quite a coincidence.
