  1. Bump! And I've also got some 9 mm, .308, .357, and .44 jacketed bullets for sale. Details on request.
  2. Phildo will probably name someone from Moms Demand Action as the 2A representative.
  3. They are. A lot of police departments just hand you the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet that comes off of whatever crappy inkjet printer they have. Folding and trimming mine aggressively only got it down to 2-5/16 x 3-5/8" before laminating, and even trimming the laminated copy fairly aggressively it added another 3/16" on each side. So it is inconveniently large, probably by design. Some folks make a reduced-size copy so that it can be laminated and still fit in a credit card slot, but since the photo is glued onto the original printout, you can both see and feel (through the lamination) that it isn't an original with the glued-on photo.
  4. No, it's laminated. Not a reduced-size photocopy, either, it's the inconvenient, oversized permit the state stuck us with. But it drops into the bill compartment of my trifold wallet with only about 3/16" of the clear plastic sticking out the top...barely visible in the photo below.
  5. Not a great solution, but I keep mine in the bill compartment of my wallet...long axis facing up, so it doesn't get folded with the billfold, and only a little bit of it sticks out the top of the wallet and gets crinkled in my pocket.
  6. Expanding on this, Collectibles Insurance Services (much less expensive than NRA firearms insurance) wanted a basement safe raised 6" above the floor. I think that was due to a combination of no sump pump, and home within several hundred yards of a stream...being a hundred feet above the stream didn't seem to matter.
  7. It'll depend mostly on the diameter of the stumps, and a little on how accessible they are, and if you want the chips left in place, or removed. It's been awhile since I've had any done, and like Griz said, the quotes were generally folded into the cost of removing the trees. It has been a lot of years since I've had a service out just to grind stumps. It wasn't inexpensive... If they leave the chips, check under them...I had one crew leave the stumps slightly above ground level, hidden under the huge pile of chips. I had to call them back to finish the job. If you want to plant grass over the stumps, you'll have to specify that you want them ground down at least 4 inches below ground level.
  8. This got me wondering how the French media is handling the reporting, so I checked out the English versions of Le Monde, France24, and Le Figaro. Interestingly, they aren't pulling any punches...endless references to violence, arson, looting, attacks on police, impending breakdown of society... Worlds apart from the 'mostly peaceful protests' crap the US media was reporting during the BLM/Antifa riots.
  9. I smoked a small (10.5 lb) packer brisket for a family dinner today. I trimmed, injected, and rubbed yesterday afternoon--I really like the Loot N' Booty Jolly Roger Jalapeño Garlic Black Rub as the base rub, though I applied a light coat of a flavoring rub over it. The brisket went on over oak and mesquite smoke about 12:30 this morning, I wrapped it around 4:30 am, and it was ready about noon today. I separated the point from the flat and smoked them unwrapped for the last two hours, to firm up the bark, which softens while wrapped. I've taken to cutting the entire point into cubes and lightly saucing before putting them back on the smoker to make burnt ends. These were excellent. I sliced the flat and served it unsauced; it was a bit overdone, but the flavor profile was good. I realized my brisket knife is seriously in need of sharpening...
  10. We rented a late-model Pacifica out west last month. They'd made some odd design choices. There was a cluster of intermingled and indistinguishable overhead switches for dome lights and to open both sliding doors and the rear hatch, so in the dark you never quite knew what was going to happen when you reached for a switch. And the selector for the automatic transmission was a rotary dial on the center panel...turn clockwise to go from P=>R=>N=>D. That rotary dial was right next to an almost identical rotary dial for radio volume...
  11. Read the label on the bottle; it will tell you if it's kosher or not. (I figured it was time for some actual snark to appear in this thread)
  12. I smoked a lot of ribs over the weekend…4 lbs of beef short ribs (the 4-rib plate weighed 4 lbs), and 6 ½ lbs of baby back ribs. I went with a somewhat spicy rub and thin BBQ sauce glaze on the short ribs, and a ‘more sweet than heat’ flavor profile for the rub and sauce on the baby back ribs. Since the beef ribs needed a three hour head-start, they were smoked over oak with a little mesquite, then I switched to cherry when the baby backs went on. Part of the rationale for the ribs was an online BBQ contest I’m entering. I’ve won a bit of money with these in the past. The current contest is for rib entries. Only a single photo, and no more than two sentences of cook description, can be entered, so it’s largely a competition on plating and photography. Still, cooks put a lot of effort into making the food taste great, even if that won’t be judged. Anyway, the last photo is my entry: both types of ribs, plus fresh corn and tomato/cucumber salad. I won’t know how it places until the third week of July. But the ribs were great, especially the beef ribs. That is a very decadent cut of meat when smoked properly. Belated update on July 28: We won, best ribs! $100 gift certificate to Porter Road Meats.
  13. I appreciate the heads-up, but I'm not going to be able to make this one--been out of state for almost a month, and just got back this morning. I've got some serious catching up to do at home. On the plus side, I'm officially retired as of May 31, so I've finally got some time to do the catching-up!
  14. I generally avoid Willowbrook, but now I may have to put a dab of Hoppes behind each ear and a drop of Remoil or CLP on each wrist and go check out the mall.
  15. I just updated the top post to include all Costco locations. While I’ve never seen a ‘no guns’ sign at one, their website has a statement banning carry at all Costco stores. That sucks, though I’d think lack of signage makes it a ‘leave if asked’ scenario.
  16. And ground them how? It won’t bother them otherwise
  17. Not universally, but yeah, I guess that is the more common way to describe the house.
  18. Those look more like skeet houses. Too tall for trap
