  1. awww.....I'm set to do a Ham Radio demo for a bunch of scouts on the 12th...
  2. I was at an Oaks show earlier this year. Yes, I saw some truly useless junk, but also found some useful stuff. I agree with the previous comment....after hearing the 'Zap Zap Zap' comimg from the stun gun folks, I was really tempted to zap a few of 'em myself (the sellers, not the stun guns!) It wasn't too busy; I saw some kids and strollers. The only concern I would have (with kids) are the guys selling the blood-n-guts' war movies...some of 'em are pretty intense, and they have em playing on large video screens at the booths. They are NOT for little kids! Most of the folks there are family friendly. Everyone was polite-didn't hear any coarse language, or see any pushy people. Be prepared for crowds, and get the little kiddies out of there before they get tired.
  3. MAYBE two inches in Waterford. Probably closer to an inch and a half.
  4. left it sit too long....gone! Someone who did get in can thank me now....
  5. Heard a very unsettling rumor from the reloading guy at Oaks a month or three ago...said that a lot of the Aliant powders, particularly Bullseye & Unique, will be out of stock for a YEAR. They said their powder production is going to commercially loaded ammo.
  6. More Allegra today! (and 2 bricks of Blazer)
  7. Got the first .22 order, and two free Allegra tabs, with a coupon for more... They're trying to get us all addicted!
  8. I got some sort of aftershave or wash or something in the box from Sportsman's Guide. Must be some sort of marketing 'thing' Oh, and the next box from Cabela's should be arriving today Thanks!
  9. Sadly, they're probably a little deeper than 200 feet.
  10. Would love to find a .38 lever that didn't cost most of a thousand...
  11. Of COURSE they have rights! They have the right to be my dinner!
  12. How closely did the "new" DW look to the old design? Are they (particularly the barrels) interchangeable?
  13. Would be the last time I shot there.... Alas...all but .380 is out of stock.
  14. It will have to be soon....you can't just park these things and expect them to come back to life after sitting for an extended period....unless the idiots don't know this...
  15. When last I heard (a week or three ago) General Defense Outfitters in New Hope PA had a new Henry .22 lever rifle. Contact Gunnar at 215-297-5444
  16. I thought I saw someone selling them at the last Oaks Show..... Isn't another coming up next weekend?
  17. Just stirrin' the pot.......

    Which used blued 357

my $0.02 what I have owned/shot/used - - Pythons are VERY nice, and I have shot several, but I have never owned any of 'em. Too much $$$ for poor old CHEEP me. - The Colt Trooper series are nice - I like their triggers, and they also have that deep, deep blue finish...I believe Sam Colt was secretly left-handed...their 'pull-back' mechanism is VERY southpaw-friendly for fast reloads. - The S&W K-frames, particularly the earlier pinned/recessed versions, are very, very nice. I think they are particularly beautiful in nickel, and they shoot as good as they look. I haven't played with the 586/686, but I assume they shoot as well as the K-frames. - The Dan Wesson model 15, as mentioned above, is *scary* accurate, particularly with an 8 inch barrel fitted. I do not like the cylinder release on the crane (particularly as a left-hander) and wouldn't want to try a fast reload with it, as I have found you have to press directly ON the release when closing the cylinder to ensure it's closed. The Smiths and Colts I've used, you merely have to push the cylinder closed; they latch-up without problem. You also have to keep the latch notch on the frame clean - its very near the path of gasses and other related 'stuff' coming from the cylinder gap, and collects soot. All in all....I'd go for the Colt or the 586.
  20. If you see a raccoon out during the day...its almost certainly rabid.
  21. Sounds like me....do I NEED another 10/22? But my son likes my 10/22...so do I need another 10/22? And so it goes
