  1. That means you are 1/4 to 1/2 turn away from the correct firing pin position for that screwy ammo. Whatever you do, enjoy the ammo with the deep set primers but do NOT use any other ammo with the pin forward like that. My suggestion was only to use up that ammo rather than destroy it. Good move on replacing the spring and pin, just start at "GO" with the new setup.
  2. Huh? You did not see this one?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e05GqzcaZ0
  3. No! My head is spinning now Paul!!! If you have a Colt AR-15 lower and "THAT IS THE GUN" and you have the parts in your possession to make it a rifle. Would that rifle be considered an assault weapon in NJ??? PS. I need a good deal on some 15rd or 15/30 AK mags!!! 7.62X39 Steel preferred.
  4. Not all Bushmasters were crap! Depends on when and by whom they were made. Let's try this again! If a person has a Colt AR-15 lower and owned or possessed a complete say Daniel Defense M4, would that be "constructive intent", as parts could be moved from the Daniel Defense M4 to make the Colt complete???
  5. If a person has a Colt AR-15 lower and owned or possessed a complete say Bushy M4, would that be "constructive intent", as parts could be moved from the Bushy to make the Colt complete???
  6. The way I see it is if the battery dies, so will you if you need this gun for SD!!!!!!!! Not even close to fool proof IMHO!!!!!!
  7. If you look at the the primer in the Tulammo round, the primer neck should be seated at the bottom of that small 45 degree bevel at the top of the primer pocket. See below! I don't understand how you have now found two examples of way out of spec ammo!!! Either use the method above to shoot the ammo or dig a hole in your yard and bury it! Mother Nature will eventually take her course. You could also take it to your local Police Department and let them dispose of it! Below is a round from 1934! This one was done right!!! Also, at the back of the bolt, (the round part) The screw in the center should be flush and scored to show proper firing pin position. unless the firing pin has worn or been replaced, this should be a good visual guide for you!
  8. Perhaps they purposely let them fall though the cracks for a reason!!!
  9. Is this what you were speaking of??? I had to convert the pdf to text since this site would not allow me to paste the pdf or even jpg version of the original letter! From: BRETT BLOOM To: SCHLUETER, DAVID Date: 9/11/2009 2:26:29 PM Subject: Hollow point ammo Lt, The three products currently being manufactured that are not considered "hollow point" bullet cartridges are Hornady Critical Defense Federal Expanding Full Metal Jacket Carboni Glaser PowR Ball AFTE (Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners) defines a "hollow point" as - a bullet with a cavity in the nose to facilitate expansion. The three above described cartridges utilize different technologies to facilitate expansion and do not have a 'hollow" cavity. In the case of the PowR Ball and the Critical Defense, they each utilize a polymer to fill the "cavity', and therefor are considered to be Expanding Type bullets but fall short of a hollow point. You can look up these products online and see them for yourself. Each bullet is a good alternative to a hollow point at this paint. As we had discussed, the use of full metal jacketed ammunition creates a bigger risk of over penetration and therefore a higher risk of striking a non-combatant. Good Luck,
  10. As long as you carefully check every round and the primers are seated at that same depth. I see nothing wrong using with using up the ammo the way I described above! Just don't use any normal ammo until you reset the firing pin back to "go"!
  11. Bob, Good point and that is why I said to check to check the brass on the first few that go boom! But those primers are set WAY too deep and I am sure that's why the light primer strikes are happening! So adjust the firing pin forward a tiny bit at a time until he can go through that bad can! He just has to understand that he would have a bad day if he were to try to fire a "normal" round and pierce the primer!!! The proper thing to do would be to try some good ammo and if it works, destroy the bad stuff!
  12. That ammo is definitely bad! That primer is way too far in the pocket! I would say, and some may have a field day with me for this advice, is check EVERY round from that spam can and if all of the primers are seated that low, set your firing fin into "No Go" territory a little at a time until you can go through that can. Carefully inspect the brass on the first few you fire just to make sure there are no splits or bulging just in case something else is funky with the gun or that ammo. Just don't use any properly primed ammo with the firing pin adjusted forward as you don't want to pierce the primer on a normal round!!! Get "the tool" so you can set it back to the "Go" position once you have used up that ammo! Good luck!
  13. Ruger, Trijicon and lasermax are but a few great companies that stand behind their products PERIOD!!! Oh and Zappos is pretty good too!
  14. I envy your ability to get out! I could but my children bought homes within a 3 mile radius of ours and my wife babysits our grandchildren a couple days a week! I could rent a one room apartment with no bathroom or kitchen out of state just for my guns and mags! With a good security system installed! Or if I were smart, I could go in with someone and buy a nice storage property right across the river and give all residents of the PRNJ another option to store their contraband in a facility that is alarmed and guarded 24/7!!! They could use this a a temporary or permanent storage facility! When faced with 30 days to do something, my new #6 idea would be the best way to go!!! Temperature and humidity controlled environment. Rent a safe or rent a space to store yours! We would even offer safe pickup for a fee! This would be at an affordable price of course! Why not put in a gun range and gun shop with cleaning area at the same location so you can shoot them, clean them and put them back in the safe. Never having to transport them! C'mon guys, this is a great Idea! Who wants in on this??? HBecwithfn7 has first dibs since his dumb statement gave me the idea!!! You may steal my business plan and all I ask in return is free membership and storage for my few guns, mags and ammo!!! I would even sell 30 round mags or rent them for a buck!!!!
  15. Hey! That looks like mine! We both belong to the same range as well! Small world!!!
  16. No Photoshop used??? If not and even if so, a beautiful shot!!!!!!!
  17. Now THAT WAS FUNNY!!! Almost lost a good mouth full of beer on that one but held back due to paperwork on my desk!!!
  18. I own several Marlins and one Ruger 10-22. I also vote for the Ruger as it is the most reliable, eats everything you feed it and has tons of fun stuff you can add to it! Marlin's quality is not what it once was but Ruger remains great and they will fix it if it breaks, period!
  19. Congratulations! I don't envy your commute in the mean time!!!
  20. I'm with you on this! You say "we cannot give one inch!" and "we cannot give up any ground to them". Problem is that we have our say by voting in those who represent our views and as a state, we blew that chance BIG TIME!!! So let's say C.C. leaves and Sweeney becomes Governor! Within the first 30 days they pass laws that all AR and AK platforms are banned! They also lower the magazine limit to 10 rounds! They also ban the sale and possession the following ammo: .223, 5.56, and 7.62! Okay , so here we are! We will not give one inch! We won't give up any ground! But the state says we have 30 days to either turn in all banned weapons and ammo to the state or local police or sell them to a party out of state! We are down to 4 choices now! 1) Turn everything over to the police and lose $$$$$! 2) Sell out of state and feel lucky to get half or less of what you paid due to a flood of desperate sellers. The mags will go for a couple bucks since who wants 15 rounders when they can have 30s of more? Lose $$$$. 3) Don't give one inch! Keep everything knowing you are a Felon if caught. Bubba will take good care of you as long as you don't claim to have a headache too often!!! Lose you freedom! 4) Sell your home, buy a new home in a free state, and move within that 30 day period! Best choice, but most can't do this based on family, your job etc!!! Which one would you choose??? When it comes down to reality! All of the choices suck and we lose no matter what we do!!! It makes us feel better when we use tough words, but in the end, we give in and we lose yet again!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. If 5,000 is the magic number, we passed that point, now what???
  22. Very sad that they WILL be our future leaders!!!
