  1. Yea the shed had about 20 gallons of gas in it i was storing in case of another hurricane or winter storm. Also a few 20 gallon propane tanks. So it went up Like a roman candle. Was crazy hot. All that heat yet the wind was actually blowing it away from the house. In the future ill park the mower outside to cool just in case.
  2. Over the weekend I was mowing the lawn with my tractor, finished up, pulled it into the shed and went inside for a drink. 5 mins later my shed was fully engulfed and basically burned to the ground. I imagine the mower had something to do with it. Good news is everyone is safe, shed was a good distance from the house and there were no guns in there:) Bad news is the heat from the fire melted the siding on a couple sides of my home. Insurance is ponying up the cash. Now I need a reasonably priced siding contractor to repair the home. Anyone know a guy? Or perhaps you do siding work? Thanks, Mike
  3. I sent my AK74 off to be guncoated. The guy did it, but sent me back the gun completely disassembled. The entire trigger group and sight is taken apart. I have ZERO clue or experience how this goes back together. Any one in central NJ (howell/freehold) interested in a little gunsmithing work or spend an hour with me putting this thing back together? Thanks, Mike
  4. I have a Sig R716 PATROL, 16" bbl, 1:10 Twist, Quad Rail, MagPul.. Love it. Not a light gun by any means but It packs a wallop in 308 and love the recoil with the piston system. Fit and finish was top notch. Great gun. Next rifle I buy will be the smaller 516 most likely. Probably the FDE or Carbon models.
  5. I bought one of these rifles from AF.. very happy with the purchase. Came in excellent shape. Very nice furniture. They sold it to me unmodified and I had the FFL do the work. Its nice they offer to mod them now.
  6. The gun shops and ammo sellers in NJ better ban tiogether and form an industry trade group quick and start lobbying. This is going to drive many more sales to mail order. I'm not paying %5 extra to fund a bloated system.
  7. We visited the Monmouth county SPCA and the freehold mall location. Nothing so far. Haven't tried ocean county yet.
  8. Wife and I have been checking out shelters but haven't found what we are looking for so far. Looked on pet finder.com..no dice Ideally a cavalier or cocker spaniel puppy... or a similar looking dog. Small, light color ideally, sorta fluffy. Been talking to some private breeeders but I'd prefer to get a pup from a home. Thanks Mike
  9. Sig all the way. I have to Sig handguns and a Sig ar10. All operate flawlessly and are well made.
  10. Dam I was planning on joining next month...sigh.
  11. I gotta wonder about this. I've never been asked for anything to buy ammo in pa. Ya just gotta look 21 I think. My concern is mail order. I buy surplus in bulk to save money. I am concerned that the big surplus sites for ammo (7.62*39 and 5.45*39) won't want to ship to NJ. Makes me want to stock up asap.
  12. So how are people using these at the range? I am planning on joining cjrpc. Can you shoot steel there ? How are you mounting them so they swing? Could you build a dueling tree out of these? Wondering how others plan on using them. Mike
  13. My Egyptian Maadi - 7.62x39 (right) & Wasr-2 - 5.45x39 (left). The Wasr-2 is getting new wood furniture from Combloc customs.. Chicom Blonde. I'll probably keep the Maadi pretty much stock but I will put the Wasr-2 grip on the Maadi. Everything NJ modified of course...
  14. First person shooters and collecting classic full size video games from the 80s
  15. My AK Variant (7.62x39) and my Sig 226 9mm. It would be tough to leave the Sig 220 45 acp home though.
  16. 27 to 28.. .the poll is running neck and neck. Liars to Truth tellers.. Seems the truth tellers are more vocal. While this post was silly I think it all depends on your wife and marriage. I have a great marriage. She knows the real cost and quantity.. She has to. Its like a game we play. I just bought an Egyptian Maadi and printed out the receipt and left it on the printer. Came home with Sig in hand and noticed the receipt sitting on top of the printer. Asked the kids if they did it.. nope. She knows the real cost.. the reality is as long as she has the money to do what she wants to do and the bills are paid.. It works out for my marriage. Hell she can see the credit card purchases anytime she wants. She'll probably buy a fancy purse in a few weeks. What I think bugs her is the fact it is guns. that's the underlying issue. When I bought home the first one... that was the first gun she had ever see up close or touched. All she knows about guns are violence she sees on TV at night. Hence why its best to downplay, in my marriage, the cost/quantity. I am in the process of switching from collecting full size video games from the 80s (which took up the entire basement) to gun collecting. Both are expensive hobbies. Generally for every couple vids I sell off I have the cash to pick up another gun. This weekend I am selling off 10 games.. so that will make her happy. I'll put the cash in the bank and take her to a nice dinner:) I hope to get her out to the range one of these days and convert her.
  17. I am wondering how many guys have resorted to some white lies about the size/cost of their gun collections with the wife. My wife is not thrilled with the gun thing.. Tonight I walked in with my brand new Sig Sauer 716 - AR-10. A 2k plus gun. She asked why on earth I need a new gun and what did that cost. I think the big black gun scared her. Probably thoughts of mowing down 1st graders. I had to go with.. it only cost $500 honey to maintain marital harmony.
  18. Thanks for the link.. Sweet.. so living in Monmouth county.. it looks like I have precedent on my side to own an *AK*. Now I just need to find an FFL willing to transfer one. Anyone have a recommendation for an AK friendly FFL? The FFL will have to be able to weld the brake and block the mags to 15 rds with magblocks
  19. Actually I meant the Maadi is not marked with AK* I realize its a stamped receiver vs milled.. if that what you meant.
