  1. I put in for 3 p2p's in late jan. when I was filling out the form I got to that part and thought I didn't like the idea of them calling my employer being that my handgun has nothing to do with my work. So I answered self employed and occ. was construction. Went fine without any questions. When I send in the new app. It will read the same.
  2. I would rather support a local shop then online companies.
  3. I think you should just transfer it over in her name. Then when your allowed to use it you can worry about the paper work again. Might be a while so start looking for a replacement now. Good side getting a new gun will be an easy discussion with the wife.
  4. Restricted where did you get yours if you dont mind me asking. I've been looking for one withpout much luck. I want to buy one complete and then after learning about it i would like to build my perfect rifle slowly. thanks, JTS
  5. JT, If thats out the door price I'll take one. Seriously
  6. Why does anyone think that new FID will do away with OGAM? I think if/when they make the change the OGAM will be the same or worse. The paperwork will remain the same they will just use your license like a bank card and add your permit when they finish your check. So basically we will be issued a debit card from the Feds. And still do all the waiting that's done now except it'll be digital and hackable by criminals.
  7. Submitted 4/19 came out today 5/7 also.
  8. Just a couple that come to mind. How bad will it become if a group of DMV workers goes bad and uses the information for some unintended reason. Along with how many criminals have fake licenses now. Can you imagine the amount on guns and ammo that will wind up on the streets. We now have a huge problem with INSTANT background checks FID's and long lines at the DMV. put them together giving DMV and Govt. more power in one place then they can handle already in separate places. There are no problems with the FID's that are issued why are they looking to change that? I thought the problem was criminals and mental health! None of which has been addressed.
  9. It seems that the cost of reloading most types of ammo has been covered in this thread. The only question that I haven't found the answer for is the initial cost of equipment and which equipment to purchase. Good stuff not just enough to get by but the right stuff to make the rounds right and cover all aspects of reloading. I personally would want to buy the right press and other misc. parts then go back thinking that I should have bought this or that down the road. The right tools make the job easier and the end result is better.
  10. I went up to Pa looking for a Savage 64 something cheap to play with when the pistol range is full. They didn't have any in stock but I wound up buying a used Marlin bolt action rifle they had. I left and went to the range, started loading it up and realized it holds over the 15 round max for N.J. Just curious if the tube fed rifles are in the same category with the max cap. Not looking to argue with someone from the far side of a cell so if its no good I'll go back up in the morning and see if I can trade it for another or at least store credit. Thanks in advance
  11. sorry no 357. Would be interested in the bricks if you have them. The one thing everyone says about the Ruger is there hard to take apart. I would hate to have a crash course at the range but its one way to learn fast. thanks,
  12. I just bought a ruger 22/45 that I can't start the paper work until next fri. I've been trying to pick up ammo before that so that I don't wind up with the new gun and no ammo. Looking around the only place I'm finding it is online unfortunately it's all over priced some much worse then others as everyone knows. What would be considered an insane price? I think picking up a small amount at a high price will help me hold off for awhile hoping this craze will slow down a little...after some time. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, John
  13. I agree the colt has a much more comfortable trigger pull. But after buying the beretta I will stick with it as long as it takes and with as much input as I can get to become as good as possible with it. I Ordered the hogue grip it should be here tomorrow. Then after I shoot a few rounds I will continue to practice using all the advice I've received switching it up until I find the right blend. I know for sure I am flinching right before firing so that will be where I start. Thanks John
  14. The recoil doesn't seem bad but the colt grip seems to be easier to manage. The snap caps I picked up just have to get to the range to practice more. The supermodels all left when they saw the colt, took the cars and burned my passport and if I thought for a second I could blame the gun I would have went with that story first. Now it's time to hunt down more ammo and practice. Thanks for the advice except for the dodge pick up that one hurt! John
  15. I joined last fri. at 11 pm online took the printout on sat. morning and have to say I got my moneys worth the first day. There were two members there I didnt get there names. One was a retired NJSP and a NRA pistol instructor and the other was just a very knowledgeable guy between the two of them I learned a ton for free in a very short amount of time so my membership has already paid for itself. My id card came this thursday so a total of 6 days. I went today Sunday about 11 and the pistol range was very empty. I think there were more people using the rifle range I had a very enjoyable day and will be a regular. If it wasnt for the 1 1/4 Hour ride it would be perfect.
  16. Heres the story. I bought a compact storm 9mm for range and HD. after shooting it for three weeks and getting better after every use still need alot of work. I figured that most of my issue is jerking right before shot and not a perfectly steady grip so in time with practice it will work out. Today I went up to EFGA to practice some more. while shooting the storm I figure take a break from it and fire the 1911 that has been in my family for many years just to find that I shoot that much better then the storm now I'm leaning more toward grip because the storm is different then the colt. I just ordered a houge grip hoping that will help. Does this make sence to some of the seasoned people on the forum or am I missing something? any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, John
  17. I joined EFGA last friday night and was there sat. midday. Great day only used the pistol range but I'm sold on the place. met a few people, learned a few things and shot for a few hours without any wait and enjoyed the day
  18. I guess they got backed up. I got an email that they shut down ordering so the shipping dept. could catch up?
  19. Thanks for the welcome's. Finally picked up my PX4 tonight. Now I'm onto ammo hunting so I can shoot it a few times. Already shopping 22's for next month between Ruger and S&W.
  20. First want to say Thanks. This site has an enormous amount of info. that has helped me already. I bought a 9mm Px4 from Heritage, still waiting for the state so I can pick it up. Met with John Fox at Lake Island today great guy and will join as soon as I can hit a target. As the weather gets better I'll be looking for an outdoor range to use..Also looking to take a beginners class if anyone has any advice on that. But most importantly wanted to jump in and say THANKS!. John
