Yes, I've read SP182 and, as I understand it, the bottom asterisked paragraph refers to renewal applications. There's no reference to the interim qualification being required by 10/1/23 (between original permit start date and renewal date) from those who received a carry permit after 12/22/2022, which was when the law was amended as seen in 2C:58-4 (g). Not trying to be argumentative or nitpicking, but this is NJ after all.

I qualified in August 2022 at Shooters and expeditiously received my PTC only 5+ months later in 2023. From what I understand, Shooters is of the opinion that it's course of fire is similar to HQC2, so no need to requalify? Anyway, in looking at the NJSP course of fire phase 3 requires using the "point shoulder position". Is the image I attached what they are requiring, or did they just copy/paste from the 1970's?

NJ LAWMAKERS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY
bennj replied to M1152's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
Since the last two decisions were made up of one pro 2A and two anti 2A judges maybe the odds will be in our favor next time. Hey, I can dream can't I? -
New Training for Carry Permits - Any Word?
bennj replied to maintenanceguy's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in maintenance guy's thread, but here goes. On Shooters facebook page today, Update on the newly released “interim” PTC Use of Force and Qualification Per statute, effective on 12/22/22, any permit to carry holder issued a permit after the updated legislation will have to ensure they meet compliance by 10/1/23. We have verified with the NJSP Firearms Unit that if you have taken your course here at Shooters Sporting Center, you have already meet the standard published by the NJSP Firearms Unit published on 7/18/2023. This means you have successfully completed HQC2 modified, use of force training, and have demonstrated use and safe handling of firearms. “substantially similar to HQC2 (modified) included in the Private Citizen Concealed Carry Use of Force Training Manual”. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE THE COURSE AGAIN! If you wish to re-take the course here at Shooters, it is completely voluntary and not mandated. It goes on for several more paragraphs, and is very concise. As always, I'm a bit confused about what all this means. I'm not about to call Shooters and bother them since they have a business to run and not answer the same questions for the millionth time. I took the course at Shooters in August of 2022, didn't get my permit until end of January. Do I need to re-qualify, or not? Hopefully, this will all be clarified soon. -
Actually, the Continental Congress declared our independence on July 2nd, 1776. Happy belated Independence Day all!

I know he's wrong, you know he's wrong, he knows he's wrong. He's just playing up to the centrists and northerners, since he knows the southern secessionists didn't vote for him. Oh wait, what difference does it make how many votes he didn't receive. Unlike the vote count for governor, the actual physical evidence contained in this thread supports pork roll by a wide margin, including that fake photoshopped yellow box thingy.

If the valet parking was in a parking garage, I would park it myself. If the parking was a lot that was the restaurant's property I would reluctantly allow the valet to park it there instead of my parking on a street some distance away. I know hindsight is 20/20, but I'm extremely adverse to having my conceal carry anyplace other than on my person, so I would go to a byob place or leave it home. I also have a SUV, but there's a few compartment pockets that are semi-hidden. I have also made it a habit to google potential locations I may visit.

Handgunlaw.us is also helpful, but I would also check each state's firearms dept. website.

I started carrying concealed practically everyday, as soon as we were "allowed" to. At first, it felt unsettling. Today, I went to the doctor's and had lunch at a restaurant that serves alcohol, so I couldn't carry concealed, it felt unsettling.

NJ LAWMAKERS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY
bennj replied to M1152's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
With the available 3rd circuit judges who would've thunk the anti-gunners would get the majority huh? What a coincidence. Don't want to be a pessimist, but we lost a lot of ground, hopefully we get some back before I'm too old to pull a trigger. -

Thanks for the links, read through them. These people have way too much free time on their hands. -
List of NJ Businesses posting 'No Guns' signs
bennj replied to 10X's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Have carried in Costco numerous times, haven't seen signs anywhere. Just checked the website and see nothing regarding firearms, unless it's buried someplace. Since it's not posted at entrances I'm not interested in knowing where it is noted on the website either. Went to QB Mall the other day and entered through Macy's, no signs there either. Am I expected to check every entrance to the mall to be sure? So stupid. -
COVID's fault. Besides, what's the rush, I waited almost 6 months for a PTC, you've only been waiting since 4/23 for UE benefits.

Does anyone have any info on reading the actual bill and law. I'm not the best at wading through reams of legalese, but would like to read the actual docs. Thanks -

Road rage shooting in Somerset county
bennj replied to GrumpyOldRetiree's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
The photo is attributed to the Somerset prosecutor's office, so not sure about the claim that it's his DL. Don't mean to paint with a broad brush, but the haircut, glasses, face type, bizarre mug shot smile, and lack of info make me wonder if he had a Nazi flag in the trunk, if you get my drift. -
NJ LAWMAKERS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY

I'm not sure about that. As lackluster the campaign run by Ciatterelli seemed to me, I wonder what the outcome would have been if not for the "legitimate" voting process. -
Just looked at my checkbook from 2021, I mailed the check for $97 to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Unfortunately, I don't have the full mailing address. I remember calling and speaking to a guy after a short wait. Maybe try calling and the 'contact us' option again? Good luck.
