I actually bought six Tapco 10-rounders and did just this. But I'd really like to have them in the 30-round body for aesthetics reasons. I contacted him a couple months ago and he told me that doesn't have AK-74 mags anymore since he hasn't had a good source on the magazines recently. You know off hand if he has them yet? I know he does conversions if you buy 30-round mags and ship them to him though, but I'm not trying to drop $45 for a magazine and then $15-20 on the conversion fee on top of shipping costs both ways.

Never too late to bump an AK thread. Here's my Saiga IZ-240 that I converted in December 2012. I sort of went for the 1980s look. Getting 15 round 5.45x39 mags is pretty much like finding the Fountain of Youth. Last pic is a shot of the reticle of the POSP I bought for it recently.

But I want the 30 round magazine body for aesthetic reasons. I actually already did that to the five Tapco 10 rounders I have now, so they hold 13-14. -
Legality Of Making My Own 15/30 Magazines

Thanks for the help. Now I just need to figure out where the hell I can find someone to ship me the mag body alone of a 30 round AK-74 magazine. -
I just finished up my Saiga 5.45 project and the only thing that's still bothering me is the 10 round magazines I'm forced to use. I know that the guy over at MountainArmory specializes in making compliant magazines, but I've called and called and I always get the same answer about him not having a source for AK-74 mags. I already know that rebuild kits are not an option for us living in the People's Republic of New Jersey, but I found this site recently that has some AK-74 magazines in stock and it has a special option for those in California, where the guy doesn't sell them in rebuild kits, and removes the spring so that you only receive a magazine body, a follower, and floor plate so it's not functional at all. Is it legal to ship just a magazine body to someone in NJ? All I need is the 30 round magazine body and I'll modify it myself permentantly for a 15 round cap. This is such a pain in the ass to find a solution for this.
