  1. For those interested in obtaining their Fl and/or Ut non-resident permits, last year I took the one day class offered by Green Academy of Personal Protection. (See vendor/training section of these forums.) It included classroom and live fire training, along with all forms, fingerprinting, etc. Everything needed to obtain both states permits. Aside from that, once my job travel slows down, I also intend to take a series of training classes from NRA Basic thru Defensive handgun training, etc. I plan to apply for NH non-resident permit and eventually conceal carry in PA. However, want to get further training before I actually do so.
  2. I have a two story house. No way am I going to risk falling from a high ladder at my age. I use a bunch of extensions with my shop vac along with an elbow gutter adapter to vacuum out my gutters. My feet stay firmly on safe ground. And when it is a bad clog that I cannot rectify, I Just call 1-800-NedStevens. Regards
  3. I just checked and the Mini-Mags are still available. Amazing. They used to sell out within hours.
  4. Both of my orders shipped and are due for delivery tomorrow .
  5. Just placed my order, so still in stock. Update: also just (at 5:20pm) placed a second order for the #413582 mini-Mags. Added Hogue rubber grip sleeves for my Glocks.
  6. I was one of the first to join GSSC when it opened and recently renewed my membership. Safe well run facility. Great customer service. I always feel welcomed there and have purchased firearms from them as well as rented. The owners Tony and Jeff are a class act. So yes, I recommend GSSC for anyone interested.
  7. Maintenanceguy(Ryan), as was expressed above, thank you for blazing the trail for us. Curious whether any of your references were contacted. I assume not but wanted to confirm. Also worth noting that they do not stipulate who can be a reference (i.e. no mention they cannot be family). regards
  8. Wasn't it California that forced the use of bullet buttons, only to now ban rifles with bullet buttons? Disgusting. A stark lesson in what NJ will try to do with smart guns. Ie, what ANJRPC has said. Force their acceptance, then circle back and ban non-Smart guns. There is no limit what these anti-gun politicians will try to put into law. We must remain ever vigilent as they will never stop until they have achieved a complete ban on civilian ownership of firearms.
  9. Fyi, Approx one year ago, my Utah non-resident took 7 weeks and my Florida non-resident took 11 weeks. YMMV I definitely plan on applying for my NH permit. Am closely following this thread to see how things progress with those whose checks have cleared. Or will apply once they update their website to reflect the court ruling.
  10. 1. Unless you are able to obtain a VERY compelling letter of support from your doctor, I would recommend against you submitting an STS033 application. Even with such a letter, there is a probability that your police of chief may still deny your application. In that eventuality, you would have to hire an attorney to challenge it. (Something that you already stated you do not have the money for.) 2. If you get denied and either don't appeal it, or lose on appeal; then you will have a denial on your record which would itself be an added challenge if you re-apply in the future. 3. In other words, once you apply, there is no turning back. You would need to pursue it regardless of cost with no guarentee of prevailing. The alternative is to wait, and apply in the future (e.g. 5 years down the road, etc.) after you address all your current issues and complete treatment. At that time, you would be able to point out those years of good mental health. Even then you may still need a compelling letter, but things strike me as just to risky applying now. IANAL, but am someone who has had my own Q26 challenges and have thought long and hard about the subject. (In my case. my issues were very minor in comparison and I ultimately prevailed without a denial.) Feel free to PM me if you wish any further clarification. Bottomline is check with your doctor, and if he/she is supporting, I would also check with an attorney. Ie what others above had said. regards
  11. This topic, when to apply, was discussed on the latest Gun for Hire podcast. Scott Bach and Dan Shmutter recommend waiting for several more weeks while they work with New Hampshire Dept of Safety to put revised application procedures in place.
  12. Welcome to the forum and firearm community. Great first choice for a pistol. Cant go wrong with a Glock 19. I have one. Btw, I also live in Middletown. The PD is good to deal with. They are likely dealing with a large volume of applications so I recommend you be patient. Regarding ranges, I am a member of Garden State Shooting Center in Lakewood. (Located about 2 minutes from SureShot.). Note that Heritage Guild in Rahway is a store but not a range. Their Easton, Pa location has a range but that is a much longer ride than Lakewood. Regards, Art
  13. Welcome. Bayshore(Middletown) resident here. I am also a member of Garden State Shooting Center(old Brick Armory location) since it opened and it's a great range. Just renewed my membership. Have also purchased a number of firearms from them. Regards, Art
  14. As much as I would like to clean mine on my deck, I live in a relatively dense neighborhood and am on the corner. Ie no deck privacy. No way want my neighbors, which include renters, to know my firearms business. I instead clean mine in my garage with the door half raised for ventilation(especially for Hoppes).
  15. Now it says the item is no longer available. I wonder if this overwhelmed gunbroker's servers and they took it down.
  16. I have owned my M&P 15/22 for approx 2 years. Have been to the range six times and fired a total of 2200 rounds thru it; as many as 550 in a single range session. Overall, I have been very satisfied with the performance of the gun and am very happy with it. Ammo has included: 1) CCI-Std Velocity, 2) Remington Viper - Hyper Velocity, 3) Remington Golden Bullet - High Velocity Hollow Point, 4) Winchester Super Speed - Round Nose Copper Plated, 5) CCI MiniMag, 6) CCI Blazer #00021, 7) CCI Green Tag, and 8) Remington Golden Bullet - High Velocity Hollow Point (Bucket O' Bullets-New & Improved #1622B). Of these, #8 the Remington Golden Bullets may not have been as reliable as the others. Recommend, as others have said, that you try shooting exclusively with CCI Mini-Mags and CCI AR Tactical(designed with the 15/22 in mind) and baseline the reliability of your gun with those. If proven reliable with these, then you can try other brands and types to see what else your gun does or does not like. p.s. if you are using the long mags, recommend you not rest the gun on it when shooting from the bench. (Don't know whether you are or aren't, but worthwhile eliminating that as a factor.) Being limited to 15 rounds here in NJ, I use the short 10 round mags.
  17. I recall there was a recent lawsuit against Jersey City for their use of extra forms. The courts ruled in favor of the applicant. If I find the details, I will post a link.
  18. Gun TV is also on Verizon Fios channel #158. (Overnight during their live broadcast hours.)
  19. Nick, I did not base my choice on ballistics but rather avoiding any appearance of using hollow points in a self defense legal situation. Will rethink that and perhaps swap in the Hornaday Critical Defense. Cameron, I tried the Corbon Powrball after you mentioned it in your Utah/Fl class last year. However I experienced several failure to feeds in my Glock 19 and that turned me off. I think I still have some left so will give them another try. Regards, Art
  20. For HD, I have two mags loaded with Federal Guard Dog for my Glock 19. Expands but is fully jacketed. Also have Critical Duty and Defense on hand.
  21. If your background is clear from both a criminal and mental health perspective, then you do not need a lawyer. If you think you have any issues at all with the questions on the sts-033 form, or are unsure how to answer; then I recommend you consult a firearm attorney BEFORE you apply.
  22. I always enjoy reading gun cleaning threads. Must have something to do with me taking care of my toys as a child. It has carried through to adulthood. (:-) I primarily use Hoppes #9 as a solvent, followed by Hoppes Synthetic gun oil for lubrication. If cleaning inside my home when my garage is too cold, then I use Ballistol instead due to the strong smell of Hoppes. A much greater risk, imho, is that of rust forming inside a gunsafe if humidity is not properly controlled. My 40 year old bolt action rifle spent five years at a time in a closet. Never a spot of rust. When I stored its bolt in a standard fire proof safe, developed a light coating of rust after only 3 months. Regards
  23. Hi, if anyone is planning to go to EFGA tomorrow let me know. Would be nice to connect, introduce ourselves, and do some shooting. Ironically, I have been a member there for 2-3 years but have never been there. Long ride for me but am excited to be able to finally visit tomorrow. I plan to stop by Heritage Guild in Easton when they open at 9:00, then head over to EFGA. regards, Art
