  1. Congrats ! I wanted the M&P 9 but couldn't get it in time. They say the trigger does get better with time yet many decide to go with Apex. Either way enjoy it.

    What next?

I almost jumped on a Single-Ten - seemed like a great idea. 10 rounds of cheap ammo, classic design single-action revolver. But then I found some troublesome reviews about cylinder/barrel issues and decided to hold off. Now I'm thinking more along the lines of Blackhawk.
  3. I'm no lawyer but to me an "open" response is still a response. What's an FFL to do if he/she does not get any response ?

    What next?

Would you consider a revolver ? I think no collection is complete without at least one.
  5. I'm looking for one with a 4" barrel. To me the proportions just look better.
  6. 28 CFR Part 25.6 ... A “Delayed” response to the FFL indicates that the firearm transfer should not proceed pending receipt of a follow-up “Proceed” response from the NICS or the expiration of three business days ... For me it was enough when PK90 said so.
  7. It has been mentioned numerous times here - the 3 day period starts when the FFL receives a Pending response.
  8. Between expiring purchase permits, OGAM, not-so-instant NICS and low inventory it can be challenging to obtain the exact handgun one is looking for. I have seen a few references like "I won't let my permit go to waste" I do have a list of a few I'd like to have - some more than others. But sometimes I feel I won't be able to get some of my more wanted guns. Do you ever find yourself buying a gun you don't really care for only because your permit is expiring ?
  9. Are there any rules or restrictions regarding application for handgun P2Ps ? I still have one permit on hand and started wondering: -do I need to wait till the expiration date of my existing permit (whether I use it or not) ? -can I apply as soon as I'm done with my second permit ? -can I apply right now ?
  10. That's great info. I wouldn't mind seeing an updated thread with info like this. Obviously it would require participation from the FFLs and I can see that being too much hassle for them. But it would be very valuable for all anxiously waiting.
  11. I don't believe cash is accepted but that could vary from town to town. Money order is probably your best bet. However, you should not need to pay until your documents are ready. Have your driver's license or passport with you. I was not required to submit a photocopy but that could vary as well.
  12. Never shot the S&W500 but it seems like a lot of gun. If you're OK with it good for you. I'm not having much luck finding 357 revolvers or the M&Ps - at least locally. 1911 is always a nice choice. Whatever you decide on - good luck finding it.
  13. My bad, I was actually off by 10 days. I verified when I submitted - it turns out it took 20 days. Not trying to rub it in. I know this is unusual.
  14. I want them for loading and dry fire. If I can I'd rather avoid dry fire on empty chamber. Thanks for the feedback.
  15. I want to get some snap caps but at $20 per pack (usually 2 or 4 in a pack) it's a robbery. A box of ammo costs less than that. I don't have reloading tools/supplies so that's not an option for me. Any suggestions ?
  16. Got my FID and permits in 30 days - I consider myself lucky. Now if only something could be done about those NICS checks ...
  17. Not trying to stir the pot but everytime Marty loses I'm very happy. Yes, I'm a Rangers fan.
  18. I was searching (Google) for reviews/opinions on a specific gun (can't remember which one). Took me about 2 weeks to register. Figured I might as well join and maybe contribute somehow.

    NICS checks

One person I know waited 30 days for NICS. Anyone else experienced something like that ?
