  1. H.E. I get ya, I guess I am just sick of the NJ rules. I never thought it would catch me on a plastic part. Agreed, it is their policy, if I agree or not. Just got my goat this time.
  2. Sorry, I want to rant for a moment. I have always been a fan of the Larue Tactical products when it comes to modern sporting rifles and such. That said, they had a Black Friday deal on their stock pack, it was the rat stock, grip, rail covers, etc. Anyway, it is half price. So I said, effit, I will order it. Placed my order, next day, cancelled! Reason- They don't ship RAT stocks to banned states! Now mind you, this is NOT a rifle, just the parts. I find this policy rude. And honestly it plain pisses me off! I wish some manufacturers wouldn't take their pro 2 A stance and work it against the little guy. I can't help that I live in a commie state. I am gainfully employed. and unfortunately my favorite hobby, happens to be in a state that hates guns. I understand that they have their policy and whatnot, but I am pissed that they hold us in NJ responsible by electing to deny us parts. Thank you, rant over.
  3. I thought the same thing. I gotta say thou, the 1/2 inch isn't a deal breaker with the right holster. Then again, I lived in free america for years, and carried, and I never had a 4" on, it was always something smaller. so... I think I will do the 5" as this is a range gun, it actually is something the wife is looking at for the range.
  4. Did you go 4" or 5"? I'm personally torn.
  5. Lesniewv, I have 2 of these machines, one was an old one I rebuilt and other, a much newer complete 550b. The new ones now come with a grease zerk on the pivot you mention. I asked dillon about this and was told it shouldn't matter. I find it odd they changed a part on the machine, but it doesn't matter. I would ask them to send you the new pivot with built in zerk. It should fix your issue. I have not found the old one to be a problem, but also use w30 oil, as they recommend. Hope that helps.
  6. I had the lee 1000, more of a frustration then anything else... Now I use dillon presses. I have no personal use on the horns day, but I always hear good things about the LNL. So, my gut would say, between the two- I would say hornandy.
  7. If you are getting a 12" select fire suppressed weapon get a piston. If you are not, as everyone has stated get a quality Di gun. I own both, Midwest and HE run these things a lot, I would listen to them, the DI is lighter, and better balanced. I would be shocked if any none military/ le or operator would ever use a rifle to the extent the cooler cleaner running pistol would provide. Again, I own both, get a DI, use the money saved toward ammo and training.
  8. So, this is pretty much exactly as my life went. I will be using HE to answer most posts for me from now on. Lol Seriously, spot on. It was a great gun, just not a glock.
  9. Op if bread isn't an issue, I would give real consideration to the elcan, the 1x6 is the nuts on a 308. As I'm sure you have heard, you normally use 1x or the units max, meaning the variable units rarely get used in other then the extreme ends anyway. As for weight, most people say, when you add the weight of a mount and the scope, the elcan is actually just a heavy. ( since it comes with a mount) Good luck with whatever you get, the 17 has been on my drool list for a while.
  10. I keep this in my night stand.. Or a 9mm whatever I'm feeling.
  11. Man I wish I had some of these great stories.. My local says it's at least 60 days when you go in. Both fid and pp. they took 5 months to do mine last year. Wife went in last week and was told 60 days... It's so damn frustrating when I know it's just them dragging their a$$!
  12. Kingsey, My brother had one of these for a long time, they are very reliable, the trigger was nothing to write home about, and it was heavy! It was neutered from the factory to be nj legal. To do it over again, I would say either just get a nice AK or a DI AR. There was no real wow factor to owning it. You would have to ask yourself, why you wanted it, as you will probably find a better solution. Now, getting your hands on a real 550, well, dang, that would be a different story! Lol. Hope I helped.
  13. That looks great man, I dig the od, always a great look... I also am lovin that dual mag thing.. We need more of those for the AR platform.
  14. Thanks HE, I will look at the sr25. From the research out there, it looks like it will keep a 556 mag in place, might be the best, lowest price, way to go.
  15. So, HE, or anyone else with the box of crap you have tested out... I am back and forth with the 10 speed or d3 rig, as it's all done and easy. I'm not an operator, like cheeko, just like the training classes. I have a first line that is hsgi tacos which I really enjoy, and I have been thinking hsgi tacos on a vest... I totally get the idea of less is more, my 1st line is holster, 2 pistol, 2 rifle and blow out kit... On a padded war belt. Works great and is comfortable, and easy to put on. The chest rig for me is a question mark. Like Most none operators, I want a quality vest, but I don't want multiple for different set ups, I do have a .308 battle rifle, and think I want the option of m4/ak/.308 mags, and it's why I dig the hsgi. So.. Thoughts on the hsgi? I would love just 4 rifle mag pouches across the front, and that's about it, maybe a pistol mag pouch or 2. How about the hsgi small ao? To small? Better options? Rack minus looks cool, but also looks like shit would flop around to easy. I should mention the belt is from us grunt gear. Retired mil guy Robert... I think he makes great stuff.
  16. I. Not familiar with these, are these drop in like the zev? I guess I'm looking for a better take up, and less over travel. Or maybe I'm not. Lol. What do you guys think about your upgrade? Would you do it again?
  17. I have to agree my spr shoots anything I put in it. And if I do my part it's moa. You need to speak to Rodney at ldub they are good folks, they will make it right.
  18. Hi, Wonder if anyone has tried the ZEV or Skimmer or any of the aftermarket triggers in their Glocks that shoot at EFGA. I am a member, been thinking about one, and want to get some real world feedback, maybe check it out. Let me know.
  19. Golf what are you feeding it? My SPR hates certain stuff.
  20. EFD, sounds great man. Enjoy yourself. Reloading is whole nother obsession we can talk about. Lmao.
  21. You kind of nailed it. Even if you build from scratch, I would still say my BCM barrels have been the best. Barrel nut will be determined mostly from your handguard choice, so that shouldn't be an issue. And yeah, dependent on handguard you might need a low pro gas block, and the barrel will list its diameter for block. If you are good with tools, com idea yourself proficient, go for it" I find thou, some people will give the " just build it " advice because THEY are mechanically inclined. I run the line of either way just get a rifle done and enjoy it. There is no shame in not being comfortable with builds. And since I don't know you, these are obviously general thoughts. Everyone has strength and weakness. Some people are financial geniuses, I spend way to much money on firearms... Lol. If you haven't done so, you might want to hook up with some guys at your local boom boom location, and ask them to shoot different set ups. Handguards and stocks are pretty personal feel things, and I might love something you will hate. This is also the best and worst part about the ar platform. :-)
  22. Efd, welcome to the ar craze! I would recommend looking at a complete upper here in NJ. Simple put, barrels and triggers make rifles in my personal opinion. In commie nj you will have to pin any break you get unless you buy an unthreaded barrel, also some tools would be recommended for barrel nut that might not be worth it if you don't plan to do this a lot. You would be well served to check out BCM. I find they offer a great barrel, and they also allow you a slew of options when it comes to hand guards, and breaks. They also cut their gas port a bit smaller then most, and this should result in a smoother shooting rifle. Again, unless you poses some of the items needed to properly complete an upper, you money is well spent on the many complete choices BCM offers. And they do a great job with bolt carrier groups as well. I would recommend using their BFH ( their version of cold hammer forging) barrels. I'm sure you will here many opinions on this topic, mine come from building many of these from the ground up. So take it for what it's worth.
  23. I also have the roam2. The Go pro for anything but connecting to a rifle seems like the future, so many mounts, the iphone control / view. I still wonder what I will do when my roam stops holding a charge, as the gopro stuff has removable battery... Also, for slow mo, you can't beat the gopro 120 and up refresh rates. Buying today, I would pick gopro. but the contour has been fun.
  24. I own the vortex 1-4. For the money I would say that's hard to beat. Unless you think 500 is too much money, everyone's version of value is different.
