  1. I'm definitely not "losing interest" in guns, but being even somewhat on top of the political goings on in both NJ and across the nation it does wear you out a little bit. I'm always debating with anti-gun folks on more local forums (which is time consuming) but I think that's more important than going to the range all the time - and after dealing with all of their twisted logic I sometimes feel like I need a break from guns for an afternoon or a weekend. That's why I recently started to get back into fishing!
  2. In most states, where "no gun" signs do not have the force of law, the most the business can do is ask you to leave IF they notice your concealed firearm. So basically, nothing changes. Now, whether you still want to patronize a business with that policy is another story.
  3. And yet they still ramble on in that article about how it's the lack of Federal gun control and the proliferation of "assault weapons" that is to blame... In other words, let's double down on stupid...
  4. Probably something like this... they could say "Look, even New Jersey hasn't decided which way they stand on the issue... how are we to know if a split even exists?"
  5. Snippet from ANJRPC: In July of 2013, the New Jersey Supreme Court agreed to hear the Pantano case, attorney Evan Nappen's state challenge to New Jersey's "justifiable need" carry permit standard (requiring proof of prior attacks and threats), which makes it all but impossible for the average person to qualify for a carry permit. Second Amendment leaders speculated at the time that the decision to hear Pantano was a play by the NJ high court to try to interfere with the Drake case - the federal right to carry challenge brought by ANJRPC and the Washington State-based Second Amendment Foundation. By rendering a state decision driving a dagger through the heart of right to carry, New Jersey's high court in Pantano could have made it more difficult for the U.S. Supreme Court in Drake to overturn New Jersey's carry law. It now turns out that this may have been more than just speculation. Just 17 days after the U.S Supreme Court declined to hear the Drake case, and just one day after being reappointed as chief justice of the state Supreme Court, justice Stuart Rabner signed a one sentence order on May 22 dismissing the Pantano appeal, saying that the earlier decision to hear the case had been "improvidently granted" with no further explanation. The Pantano case had been pending for almost 10 months, had been fully briefed, and was awaiting only the scheduling of oral argument. The move is highly unusual and highly suspect.
  6. No, it means that the court should not have granted the appeal in the first place (but they did it to interfere with Drake, which is now dead so they can kick this case to the curb).
  7. The worst areas, I've found, are the face of the cylinder and the forcing cone area. CLP barely makes a dent there, and Hoppes #9 is marginally better. I've found (on my stainless guns) that Kleenbore "Lead-Away" cloth and a bit of elbow grease seems to do the job. Not sure if that cloth is a good idea on blued guns though...
  8. My parents are (hopefully) building a vacation home along the ICW just north of Murrells Inlet. That might be the stepping stone I need to get down there more often and possibly check out other areas to live. My grandmother, aunt, and uncle also moved there (from Ohio) years ago and they seem to enjoy it. So guys, before I get there make sure SC votes to allow open carry! I don't mind concealed, but sometimes it's nice to have the option of just strapping on any old holster,
  9. OK, so let's push the legislature to ACTUALLY REMOVE any allowance for CCW in New Jersey. We all support this common sense gun safety! (And then we all apply for non-resident LTCF's).
  10. I have family in Murrells Inlet, and my parents just bought property along the waterway to build a vacation home for all of us to use. Unfortunately I won't be paying the taxes on it, so I can't get a non-resident carry permit So while I won't be moving down there anytime soon, it will give me plenty of chances to use that as a "home base" to explore the state to see if it's somewhere I'd want to live eventually. I was thinking the Greenville area looks nice. The main thing I don't like about south Carolina is that it's CC only.
  11. Yes, this. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on PA over the next few years so when I finally make my exit out of NJ I don't just end up on the leading edge of another anti-gun state government.
  12. Because if they change their interpretation of the law to accept "self defense" as justifiable need, the next AG will just use the same power to return back to the current interpretation. NJ needs legislative action, which requires lazy people to get off their ass and vote. PA needs legislative action to recognize all state's permits. Take the power away from a single individual and what side of the bed they woke up on.
  13. For *complete* dis-assembly, I found that replacing the hammer bushing with one that eliminates the magazine disconnect made re-assembly much easier. It still requires 2 1/2 hands to put together (and a lot of tilting/balancing), but that's better than requiring 3 hands.
  14. I think that's Utah saying "Fine, you don't recognize ours, we don't recognize yours..."
  15. "I always ask if they wouldn't mind taking a personal check instead of, say PayPal. I tell them, "I don't mind waiting for it to clear if you don't." If they say no checks then move on." Not that I've ever used Armslist, but as a seller on Craiglist or elsewhere I'd be glad that someone "moved on" if they offered to pay with a personal check. If you have the money in a checking account, go to the ATM and turn it into little pieces of green paper.
  16. I know it's not local, but the last two times my dad went to Cabela's in PA, he called to ask if I wanted any ammo. Both times he picked up a few boxes of Herter's (steel cased) for $5.99/box.
  17. You need to be very quick on the trigger if anyone finds an online deal. In the past month I've gotten a brick of CCI Blazer from Cabela's for 6.27 cents/round (after shipping) and a bucket of Remington from Natchez for 6.87 cents/round (after shipping). Typically these deals don't even hit gunbot because they don't exist long enough. Just have to be in the right place at the right time.
  18. I'm guessing this is for handgun ammo only? I've bought 12G shells at Dicks with no additional questions asked.
  19. The worst part is, this will just embolden the politicians to pass even more draconian laws, now that they know the SCOTUS wants nothing to do with protecting the Constitution.
  20. You've got to be very quick to snag online deals anymore... gone within minutes usually. If you still don't have any ammo as the end of the semester nears, I'd just post a "Want to Buy" thread, and perhaps some member here would be nice enough to sell a brick at the cost they paid to help get another firearm enthusiast started. You can also find .22 at some gun shops, but the price isn't great. If I recall correctly, Dunklebergers had plenty on their shelves last time I was there.
  21. I thought something had changed. I recall a while back that online sales within NJ were not allowed. What law made that restriction?
  22. I store 5 rounds inside the shotgun, 5 more in a shell-holder on the stock, and 25 in a bandolier/belt. The rest go in a closet in the original boxes all stacked neatly.
  23. Implement a policy where I (as a seller) can decide to privately perform a background check on a buyer, and chances are most gun owners would utilize it to cover their ass. Get the federal government involved with a database record of each transaction, make, model, serial number, etc... and there's no chance in hell most gun owners would utilize the system.
  24. I got the email saying my order shipped already. A bit quicker than Freedom Munitions
