  1. Shouldn't presentation of a state issued Driver's License be enough? Considering you practically have to go through a prostate exam to prove your residence/address to get one of those?
  2. Surprisingly, my guns seem to like Golden Bullets. Shipping isn't great, but even at ~$96 shipped this is about 6.8 cents/round so it's low to middle range in the current pricing for .22.
  3. Stupid logic... if your fingerprints never change, they should never need new ones. If your fingerprints do change, they are a useless form of identification.
  4. Kennedy's quote is positive. I think the OP was pointing out that Kennedy will be a hypocrite if he's against "justification" for free speech, but upholds "justification" for bearing arms.
  5. I ordered on April 4th. I got the "shipped" email on April 16th (only meaning they printed/purchased the shipping label). It looks like the package actually left their location around the 17th, and it's traveled from from Washington to Illinois so far. Scheduled delivery is the 24th.
  6. My brother has one... 2 or 3 shots and my shoulder has had enough...
  7. Out of state online vendors are still insulated a little better from NJ's legal reach than FFLs located within state lines. If NJ wanted to, with one stroke of the pen they could make all in-state FFL's submit ammo purchase records to the state database. They would have to sue each online vendor (individually) to make them do the same.
  8. A deposit just to change the account holder's name? It's not like they are doing a service connect/disconnect here... Can you just change your account info online?
  9. I thought "low brass" and "high brass" were useless terms now that the plastics used in the hulls are better than they were long ago (therefore everything can be constructed as "low brass" even with higher powered loads). Best bet now is to just go by the DRAM equivalent or velocity of the round to determine which ones may be loaded a bit lighter.
  10. I wouldn't mind "showing" FID to buy handgun ammo (assuming LGS prices are event remotely competitive, which they aren't) but having to "log" all the ammo purchases into another bound book means PA or online vendors will be getting most of my ammo money.
  11. For every shop that valiantly tries to educate new customers (non-gun owners) there are probably 10 that operate like a good ole boys club where new customers (even those that DO have FID cards) get the evil eye when they walk in. Best case, for gun rights, is those customers manage to find a more friendly FFL. Worst case is they just say screw it and the gun owner population dwindles.
  12. Just think in 10 more years we'll be longing the days of dirt cheap 9mm at $0.25 and .223 at $0.40 per round.
  13. Well, there's a difference between spending two hours going for a sale and a few minutes to let someone hold a few guns to become a potential new owner in a state that can't afford to turn away any people from this hobby.
  14. Not a law but some gun stores have their own policies... I think it's stupid, but I always carry my FID.
  15. If you have a Cabela's card, use CLUBFIVE for $5 shipping.
  16. Ha.. it's not hard to push "Add phone number to existing contact" which is already set to bounce to VM. I just keep adding records to the listing.
  17. I just type the number straight into the search box. Usually one of the first results is a "Who's calling me?" type of site, with a blurb about what other people hear when they answer the phone. If I see SAF, NRA, Comcast telemarketing, etc. in any of the "reviews" I consider it a junk phone number. If it's an important message (it never is) I figure they'll leave an actual voice-mail (they never do).
  18. I give my real number... it's a cell phone with caller ID. If I don't know who it is, I don't answer. Then I look up the number on Google, and if it's a telemarketer (NRA or otherwise), I just add it to a "straight to voicemail" contact so it never even rings.
  19. And they'll just say 15+ round magazines and rifles with "evil" features are not in common use in NJ, therefore the ban is OK. Nevermind the fact that outside of NJ there are millions of rifles (and hundreds of millions of magazines) in common use.
  20. I may have to extend one in Hackettstown, and the detective just said to give him a call and I can stop by to get it signed, no problem (we'll see if it's on the spot or a drop-off/pickup later - but even so they don't mind extending them).
  21. And these were soldiers trained to various degrees in combat/self defense, and yet even they weren't able to tackle a shooter during a reload. But they expect Joe the plumber to be a fight night champion in the 1-2 seconds it takes to swap mags.
  22. I have a Savage Mark II with the wood stock onto which I added a Cabela's 2-7x scope zeroed at 100 yards. With Remington Golden Bullets (of all things) it's pretty accurate. I've had some off target fliers with other ammo brands (bulk quality) and a few fail to extracts with Winchester white box, but generally it'll eat/shoot anything. I've only got ~1,600 rounds through my barrel so it's just getting broken in It's not much in the fashion department though as the wood looks more like plastic. I've never shot any other the other options you listed, but you say you're looking for a bolt action. Isn't the 597 a semi-auto? If you want to keep it dirt cheap, go with Savage. For something nicer looking I'd probably pick up a CZ.
  23. Aren't gun safes tax free or tax deductible (I forget which) in NJ? If so this just saves even more money.
  24. There's a very simple swap to make that car much faster... Drive it to the dealer, and swap it for something else. Hey. It may be slow, but the MPG's kick ass compared to my F150 with the 6.2L motor... (anywhere between 7 and 17MPG, but usually around 10-12).
