  1. Supposedly there's like a 5-7 year waiting list to get in. I heard you have to know somebody...but if you're a Florham Park resident you have a better chance.
  2. that's a pretty good deal...right?
  3. Best response yet! Thanks, jermz. As for which pistol, I went with the Glock 23 Gen 4. Paid $1,500. That was a good deal, right? Haha. Just kidding.
  4. Did my screen name give away my location? Ha. I guess my subtle hints as to which shop it was weren't so subtle. As for aguilar's comment, I was thinking that could have been the case in my situation from the get-go (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt) but who knows. Just have to move on and enjoy it...what goes around comes around. Thanks again, folks.
  5. So after reading the first couple of responses saying that I should just get over it and not to sweat it, I made the decision to just put it behind me and move on. Perhaps I shouldn't have have checked back and read the additional responses. Now seeing that some of you have paid $529, $710, $750 (and let's not forget Clintoon's "as long as you didn't pay more than $820" comment), I now feel sh*ttier than I did before. Ok, for the record - I paid over $1,100. Yes, I know (especially now), I'm a bonehead. I should have done my research. But I just can't believe that the shop/range I bought it at would price-gouge that much...especially since they're supposed to be "reputable". Talk about taking advantage of a newbie. I actually want to go back there and tell them off (again, I realize it's my fault and the whole "caveat emptor" idea) but what a dick move by them. Sh*t, I practically paid double what was referenced above. But, for the same reason I'm not going to talk sh*t about them in this forum (the reason being: what good is it going to do) what would they possibly say if I went back in ("sorry, here's a $500 rebate). I just can't get over the sheer amount that they "overcharged" and, well, screwed me. Not to sound like a fruit and be over-dramatic, but I feel violated. Ha. This was the first range/shop I had ever been to and thought everybody was helpful/friendly and I felt very comfortable. I even planned on making this my "home range". Now I just feel like they're shysters and don't want to give them future business. Agh!! Ok, I'm done for now...until the next round of comments make me even more pissed off. Ha. Monmouth Arms, I'll be sure to come to you first when it's time for my next purchase.
  6. Great responses. Thanks, guys. I just have to stop thinking about it and chalk it up as a rookie mistake (as well as a reason not give that place any future business...I'll refrain from trashing them though). This one may very well be the first of many for my collection. Thanks again!
  7. Hi All, So I’m a newcomer and as soon as I got my FID and P2P I ran straight out to make my first purchase(s). Originally, I set out to just buy a handgun and once I found out that there was a 16-day wait for the background check, I decided to double up and also buy an AR-15 (on a complete whim). Handgun purchase aside (I’m totally satisfied with it), I wasn’t too familiar with AR’s and the different models and pricing. Admittedly, I was unprepared and was just excited/pumped to be buying my first guns (in hindsight I should have done my research, which I’m fully aware of and kicking myself in the ass for not doing). Again, I was “in the moment”. Anyway, I ended up buying the M&P15 Sport™ - 10 Round Magazine, Fixed Stock (the NJ-compliant model). Once I took possession (after paying and the background check), I THEN did my research – reading up online, watching YouTube videos…all the stuff I should have done PRIOR to making my purchase. Bottom line is, I think I way overpaid (I won’t name the shop where I bought it…just in case I’m way off base). S&W’s MSRP, as noted on their website, is $839 (and, yes, I’m aware that’s the suggested price and that the dealer sets the actual pricing), but I paid a lot more. I even read/watched online of guys saying they bought it for as low as like $650, which just goes to show what the wholesale/manufacturer’s price is considering that the retailer had to have baked in a profit. So I ask you guys – what is the current “market” price for this gun in today’s world (I’m fully aware that prices have been inflated due to the current social climate)? Without saying how much I paid, I’m curious what you guys (i.e. the more experienced/knowledgeable folks) think. Plus, if/when things get back to normal, will prices overall come back down and I should have just waited? I can keep on going, but it’s just me pissed for being an idiot who possibly got hosed. Thanks in advance.
