  1. Apologies if this was discussed previously and I missed it. Why four photos anyway? One goes on the permit, where do the other three go? Local PD, NJSP HQ and the Prosecutor/Courts? Now that I think of it more, wouldn't surprise me if they went in mug books.
  2. According to their website, they are not accepting new members. Bummer. Thanks for the suggestion, I'd forgotten about them. I believe there are other, similar groups I will try to track down.
  3. Further research on newer Colts has turned me off. Maybe an older one, before their financial and management issues resulted in drop in quality and Customer Service. The lock is a bit of a negative on the S&W, extra two rounds in the 686 Plus 3-5-7 over the Ruger though. I'll start stopping in gun stores looking for used in the future. I applied for P2P last week, my last set Pre-Bruen took about 3 weeks. I'm not counting on this set coming through that quickly. If I were to buy right now, it would probably be the SP101 in .357, Osage County even has them in stock. Hoping @Pizza Bob still lurks around these parts, I'm sure he'd have some valuable input as well.
  4. She won't shoot because of recoil or other reason? I'm pretty set on wanting a 3" unless someone is able to definitively change my mind based on first hand experience. I'm also waiting on permits, so cannot buy immediately.
  5. I'm in the market for a revolver. My main requirements are 3" barrel, DA/SA and quality (overall build and trigger). For caliber I'm thinking either .38 Special or spend the extra money for the heavier frame of a .357 and run .38 Special in it. Still giving me the option to run .38 +P or .357 if I'm in the mood. I'd briefly considered .327 Federal, .32 H&R or .32 S&W and similar, but due to availability and cost of those cartridges I've decided to stick with .38 or .357. Cost of the gun is less critical, I figure with today's prices I'd be looking around $600 (out the door) at the low end and pushing $1100 at the high end, unless I stumble on something used. I think availability will be a bigger issue with .357 being the winner there based on initial searches. It seems 3" barrels are more rare, in any caliber, compared to their shorter and longer siblings. Purpose and reasons for what I'm after: Primarily just a range gun to give my wife more trigger time. Right now she will only shoot my .22s. Partially due to recoil, mostly due to her immense dislike of my M&P 9mm which had a habit of shooting brass back at the shooter. Even though my P320 does not do that, she still associates 9mm semi-auto pistols with brass in her face. Yes, a 4-6" barrel would offer less recoil, but she also tends to dislike the weight of my 9mms, mostly she feels they are forward heavy. I could see that since they are polymer framed plus the neutered magazine capacity does not help at all. Yes, I explain heavier gun = less recoil, it doesn't matter, she doesn't like my 9mm guns. I'd estimate my P320 with light & red dot to weigh in around 35 oz empty. As a comparison, the Ruger SP101 is spec'd to be 27oz. Enough for her to be happier, I don't know yet. I do think it will be less forward heavy than my SIG. The Ruger LCRx in .38 Special is only 15.7 oz. My concern there would be recoil with such a light weight frame. I do have the ability to reload, so I'm confident enough I could come up with something to lessen the kick more. The big issue with that one is availability. Long-term I'm thinking of a carry gun for her, if she wants to go down that road. I'd considered going with something like a P365-380 or M&P 380 EZ. I'm not going that route now due to her aforementioned dislike of semi-autos and besides, I want another revolver in a larger caliber than my Heritage .22LR. I figure if she gets comfortable with a 3" revolver, then we can revisit the idea of a semi-auto CCW or smaller revolver. Although, I think she could handbag carry the 3", so she might be able to stick with that. Provided the hammer on whatever I decide on does not present an issue with drawing. My current front-runners are the Ruger LCRx, Ruger SP101, S&W 686 Plus 3-5-7 and Colt King Cobra. I'm open to others as well, but it seems these most match what I'm after. Thoughts? I'm sure others have faced the same decision.

  7. Listening now. He's making some very good points. I wish he was not putting as much emphasis on the training aspect. Almost giving them the go ahead to increase the requirements.

  9. Yes, and NY passed their laws, and one judge quickly issued an injunction, then an appellate court quickly over turned his decision and the laws went into effect.
  10. I can understand the frustration and anger towards the PBA and the guy that testified. But I am hesitant to paint all LEO with the same brush. Just like we do not want to be lumped in with the irresponsible gun owners. I'm not just talking about the prohibited people here either. What about the people who leave guns within easy access of children, or people in other States with a CCW and brandish it or worse over a parking space dispute, etc... As mentioned previously, a union's job is to their members first; that does not mean every member agrees with the union bosses or supports them. Teachers in NJ are required to be a union member or they don't have a job. Do you think they agree with every stance the union takes? I know there are many that don't. Are cops required to be a PBA member? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. Don't all LEO take an oath to uphold The Constitution? Doctors are punished if they violate their Hippocratic oath, don't they? Also, we have LEO on this forum. I've met at least one face to face, I truly believe he supports the 2A, us and our right to carry and defend ourselves. Should he and the others be put in the same group as the guy from the PBA? I don't put him there or judge him based on the PBA. Pick any profession, group, association, etc... there will always be good members and bad, it is human nature. As also mentioned above, maybe the members of the PBA will take notice, realize the potential for damage from a public relations standpoint and vote in better leadership.
  11. I was told today by local NJSP that my application was "sent up" on 10/19. I assume that means it went to NJSP HQ in Trenton.
  12. My Father-in-Law bought one from them, delivered. He had no complaints. They are not the most economical ones on the market, but they do appear to be good quality.
  13. For those of you with a book of feces account, here's the page for one of the Oath breakers and the prime sponsor of A4769. Surprisingly enough I was able to read the comments even without an account. https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofJoeDanielsen
  14. Burnt down in a couple of days though. Matches what politicians do to a tee. Don't know that I knew that, since they have always been so few and far in-between. Can one be issued a carry permit without a FOID? The application asked for the FOID number (SBI number, I think is the official name?). I think it was worded, if you have one. So if you do not, would they issue that at the same time? Just pondering here.
  15. I agree the so called sensitive places as is currently being proposed will likely get shot down. I think much of it will stand, even worse I think it will take YEARS to make it through the courts. People keep pointing out how Judge Suddaby blocked the NY law, but miss out on how an appeals court overturned that decision. https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-yorks-unconstitutional-concealed-carry-law-remain-effect-pending-review-appeals-court-rules I hope I'm wrong in regard to the amount of time we will have to wait.
  16. But didn't Thomas also say permitting policies were still allowed? Otherwise we'd be Constitutional Carry. Also, from previous comments, NJ FOID card is also required to purchase handgun ammo, not just rifles/long guns.
  17. Not exactly... The first Judge did a temporary injunction. Then another Judge allowed them to go into effect while the lawsuits went up the chain. https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-yorks-unconstitutional-concealed-carry-law-remain-effect-pending-review-appeals-court-rules
  18. Still going. I cannot listen to them. Trying to eat lunch.
  19. For the little bit it is worth, I pointed that out in my email to them. Much of what they want goes against Bruen, will be challenged, and taxpayers will have to foot the bill to defend their unconstitutional law.
  20. Here's a link to the filing. It also calls for the Plaintiff's Attorney fees to be paid for by the Defendants. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.njd.452993/gov.uscourts.njd.452993.49.0.pdf
  21. Some PDs and Counties are making it easier to add additional guns than others. You might be able to get qualified with extras and added to your permit before it gets issued. You'd have to contact the PD or Court.
  22. Apologies or a reminder if this was already mentioned. Wawa will give you 15 cents off per gallon if you pay using their app. This is not a permanent discount, though. It seems they run the promotion a few times a year and it lasts 1-2 months each time. You do not need a Wawa credit card. You install the app on phone, create an account and link a credit card of your choice to the app.
  23. Since there is currently no law requiring registration, they should not be doing so. Just make sure the gun and mags are NJ legal.
  24. You have to submit proof you are the legal owner of the gun. That can be as simple as a notarized letter stating you are the owner. I used a copy of my executed Permit to Purchase a Handgun. So far NJ does not require to register guns with the State when you become a NJ resident, it is voluntary. Bucky and his gang want to make it a requirement.
  25. I qualified with my P365 & P365XL. Still working out holster and carry position. I go by the two is one, one is none belief system. I probably should have taken my Shield also, but did not. At this point I would only wish to carry the Shield if neither SIG was available.
