  1. You had a class of at least 75 students?! How many Instructors and/or Assistants?
  2. Did qualification at Shooters today. It was.... different. $90 plus tax (plus plastic surcharge if you use one) gets you up to five guns. I don't think any of us needed to shoot more than one gun, since they were all bottom feeders. He did do the induced stress factor deal. Basically, you had to listen to commands, move your target, top off your mags, reload as required all while taking your shots. I would not say it was very rushed, but it was not slow paced either. There was one required tactical reload called for. That string was three shots, reload, six shots. Turned out at the start of that string I only had two rounds. So I did two, emergency reload then seven shots. I think I needed one other emergency reload. I'd top off and/or swap mags in between the shooting commands. More single and support hand only shooting than I expected, but they were at the shorter distances. Speaking of distances, he didn't call them out. He'd move one target and tell everyone to move theirs to that distance. Nothing crazy, 15 yards max, maybe? I was too focused on other things to care what the actual distance was. Biggest hassle was the shore traffic on 539. No regrets going there.
  3. The backup group is gone now also. Still no response to my email.
  4. Do you know if his is a "restricted" permit? As in it listed the only gun he is permitted to carry.
  5. I have one of those and liked it.... until it wore in and got loose. I lifted my shirt and the gun came with the shirt!
  6. I've had a Hanks leather belt for a couple of years now. Looks like any normal leather belt. Excellent build quality, excellent customer service. The problem I have with it is the best size would be in between existing holes. It's ok for OWB, but IWB doesn't work for me. Since the only carry I've really done is at OWB at home or the range it hasn't really bothered me. Now that I need to find some type of IWB solution it's an issue. So I'll either be poking holes or shopping for one of those infinitely adjustable belts. I'm hoping that will help with IWB, because so far I haven't found anything I think I could wear for an entire day.
  7. Yup, ones that I know of include: Upper Freehold, Millstone, Roosevelt, Farmingdale, and a few small shore towns. Edit to add from https://nj.gov/njsp/division/operations/troop-c.shtml: The five (5) Troop “C” Stations are responsible for twenty (20) municipalities in seven (7) counties. Obviously, not all 20 are in Monmouth Co. They did not list them.
  8. That's a concern I have. My work schedule is typically set three to six months in advance. I have customers flying in from around the country to attend my classes. I very rarely have coverage when something comes up, which means I need to be at work pretty much no matter what. I doubt a judge or clerk would be accommodating to my schedule. I also do not know where my application would go. I live in Monmouth County, but the NJSP in Mercer County is my local barracks.
  9. Just for the fun of it, I submitted a feedback form for them asking why they were deleting groups related to firearms. There was an option requesting an email response which I clicked. So far I have gotten three auto-generated emails. One thanking me for providing feedback, one telling me my request was received, the third telling me to expect a delayed response due to an increase in volume of tickets. They have one of my throw-away random emails which I created for those types of accounts and I typically only look at when I'm expecting something there.
  10. Playing devil's advocate here, not attacking you or your findings. I know intent can be mistaken. First, so what should legally happen when two Statutes contradict each other? I'm sure the Prosecutor would simply use the one against the gun owner. Second, that says "type of handguns", it does not specify the exact handgun. So the argument could be made any compact or any sub-compact or any semi-auto even. What about two handguns of the same make & model? In my case, I first purchased a SIG P365, then a P365XL, which I shoot much better. Since the FCU is the serialized component, I could easily convert the 365 into an XL and it would have the same serial number. So I'm thinking of qualifying with both of them.
  11. I could see them doing that in the future. But the way I (a layman) read and understand the current Statute, there is no provision for that. Just like it does not state the method of carry, open or concealed. Both items would require a bill amending the Statute, based on my understanding.
  12. 2C:58-4. Permits to carry handguns a. Scope and duration of authority. Any person who holds a valid permit to carry a handgun issued pursuant to this section shall be authorized to carry a handgun in all parts of this State, except as prohibited by section 2C:39-5e. One permit shall be sufficient for all handguns owned by the holder thereof, but the permit shall apply only to a handgun carried by the actual and legal holder of the permit. Typical "I am not a lawyer". As per the current Statute, this whole thing of being able to only carry the gun you qualify with is not correct. As of right now, I only own one gun I would want to carry. I own others that I would carry if my primary were not available for some reason. Since I have not qualified yet, I've been debating taking the other(s) with me. That would require an additional cost and time. I have not decided if I'm going to or not yet.
  13. Someone said they were bought out. I didn't care enough to research if it was true.
  14. I initially thought the same. But since it did not specifically say business and there was not another location for personal, I choose to put personal there. My later comments were more generalized. Best of luck, hope it works out for you.
  15. I'd be more interested to know what percentage the courts have approved. I've read some courts are sitting on applications awaiting guidance on further tactics to deny. Obviously I have no idea how things work at your company, but at mine, when an employee leaves (for whatever reason) emails are fwd to the manager. This way customers still get a response from the company. I know this for a fact, because my manager complains about people using work addresses for personal use (mostly mailing lists, shopping, stuff like that) then he gets all the spam when they leave. I never understood why anyone would want to do any type of personal business on a company owned asset or company controlled communication method. Same with people that use a company owned and managed cell phone for personal use. No thanks. If you are leaving on good terms with your company and manager, it might not be as big of a deal. Of course, your manager would know, if they don't already.
  16. You may want to call the barracks ahead of time. There's a pdf on the NJSP website which says "*PLEASE CALL YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT OR STATE POLICE BARRACKS PRIOR TO APPLYING –DO NOT JUST SHOW UP" I called my local Barracks asking about it to see if they were requiring an appointment and/or if I was going to need to go during traditional working hours. The Trooper was not very informative. Since I was not ready to submit my packet right now, he just told me to call when I was ready to submit it. When I pressed further regarding needing an appointment or hours I could drop off the packet, meaning did I need to take time off from work, he said no. He said if one of the "Firearms guys" was not there another Trooper would take everything and I'd get a phone call later with the instructions for fingerprinting, or needed corrections to my packet. He said "most people" do something wrong and have to come back. Link to the pdf referenced above. https://www.nj.gov/njsp/firearms/pdf/NJSP_WEBSITE_REVISION_FOR_PTC_v2.pdf
  17. You know I read that thread earlier also. It does not address the other topics in my thread though. Duty to inform and does LEO know when they run license plate or DL.
  18. We had the same thoughts and posted at nearly the same time. Mods, maybe merge?
  19. Edited to remove open vs concealed since that has been discussed in other threads. First off, I am not advocating open carry, nor do I envision myself wanting to open carry in public. SP-642, is called a permit to carry. 2C:58-4 makes no mention (that I see) regarding the method of carry, open or concealed. I bring this up regarding concerns about printing. If the law does not mention carry method, then printing would be less of a concern, from a legal standpoint. Obviously, it is best to not print at all for multiple reasons. I have also not seen anything regarding duty to inform during interactions with police. Since in reality the only people to have a carry permit previously were guards in uniform (open carry) and active or retired LEO, with badges or the elite, who also typically have special credentials. Many of them also have special license plates or other placards which would tip off a LEO in advance of contact. As I type this, another question came to mind. I know in other States a LEO knows the owner of the vehicle has a carry permit when they run the license plate. Does NJ have that? Since I am a member of multiple 2A advocacy groups which offer free legal advice, as well as US Law Shield, I intend to reach out to a lawyer at some point. I have not yet submitted my packet, so I have time. Just wondering other's thoughts on this. I know we have some active & retired LEOs on the forum, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as well. Particularly on duty to inform and if they see a carry permit when a plate or DL is run.
  20. I don't know, I still see it. I did not get any of that. No questions this time and no mention of games. Here's the link to the Keybase group. https://keybase.io/team/lakewontonrodcki I cannot figure out how to share a link with the mewee group without giving mw email addresses, that ain't happening.
  21. MeWe is shutting down gun related groups. The new one is called NJ & PA NJGFS ROD CLUB (AKA THE REFUGE). In the chat they have other backups. Including something called Keybase, which seems to me to be similar to Discord.
  22. A court appearance would be the biggest roadblock for me due to my work schedule. This brings up another interesting question, where does my application go? I live in Monmouth County, but with no local PD, I go through the NJSP in Hamilton, Mercer County. So would my application go to a Mercer or Monmouth County Judge?
