  1. @Krdshrk Any plans for another meetup any time soon?
  2. I'm interested. Anything particular you're looking for on trade?
  3. Do they require you to shoot from the various positions/cover as well? Or just the listed distances?
  4. Same as FID I imagine. The form used to say you couldn’t use family members but that was removed and now you can. If you couldn’t use them it would say so.
  5. It hasn’t changed. It’s still the same as it has been for many years. People are taking a chance that what they’re doing will be good enough, even though it’s different from what is currently required.
  6. This is the firearms qualification for law enforcement. Statutes say it must be "substantially similar". It depends on how you define substantially similar, but that is why you are seeing differences. https://www.state.nj.us/lps/dcj/agguide/firearms_2003final.pdf
  7. Q: May a person lawfully possess a “blocked” large capacity ammunition magazine? A: Yes, as long as it was owned on the day the law was enacted and was permanently blocked during the six-month grace period. Temporarily blocked magazines are not lawful. (NJAC § 13:54-1.2 Definitions) A large capacity ammunition magazine must be permanently altered so that it is not capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. (e.g. riveted, welded, epoxied, etc.) It cannot be readily restorable. An ammunition magazine which has been temporarily blocked or modified from holding more than 15 rounds, as by a piece of wood or a pin, is still unlawful. https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.anjrpc.org/resource/resmgr/docs/nj_update_magazines_6-12-18.pdf
  8. That's how I read it, but I'd really like someone to provide a legal opinion on this. I have an email into ANJRPC.

  10. Re: A2757 2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the fourth month next following enactment. https://legiscan.com/NJ/text/A2757/2018
  11. I've owned firearms for several years now, but I've run into a problem I've never had before: I don't know what gun to buy next. I'm finally at the point where there's nothing I "need", but I'm getting the itch to buy something new. I have multiple handguns in multiple calibers, so I'm leaning towards a long gun. I already have a few AR's and AK's as well as a couple shotguns, some 10/22s, and a couple bolt guns. I think the only categories I'm lacking at this point are a lever action and a pistol caliber carbine. I've also toyed around with the idea of getting an M1 from CMP. Anything else I get at this point would be a "fun gun" and probably wouldn't see that much use. Does anyone have any thoughts on any "must haves" that I've overlooked? Not looking to spend a ton of money, but like I said - I'm looking for a new toy.
  12. Brownells and MidwayUSA had the P80's on sale for $119 earlier this week. Not sure if they're still on sale. You can buy a complete Glock for about the same as the cost of all the parts for the P80 build (not including the P80 itself) so that's the route I went. I can just swap the parts off the complete gun to the P80 if I want.
  13. Yup. After today's events, I ordered the Glock. It's the only one on my list that holds more than 10 rounds.
  14. Thanks. My wife had a Witness (CZ clone) for a while. I shot it a couple times and didn't love it. But people seem to really like the CZ-P01 so maybe I need to give that some more thought. FYI - the list I posted is what I already have. I love my GP100. I'm 6'1" and 220. I know a lot of people carry the G19. Having never carried before, it just seems like it's too big to be comfortable. Maybe it's something I need to give more consideration. Thanks.
  15. Haha, yeah I like Rugers. But I didn't realize how much until I typed out that list. It wasn't necessarily intentional, they just always seemed to have a gun that fit my need at the moment. I thought about an LCR, but I'm not a fan of revolvers for carry. For those of you that have or do carry out of state, how much difference is there really between a double stack like the Glock and a single stack like the ones I listed?
  16. I've got one permit left to use and can't decide what to get. Here's what I have so far: Ruger P95 (9mm) Ruger SR1911 (.45) Sig P226 (9mm w/ 22 conversion) Sig P320 (9mm) Ruger SR22 (.22lr) S&W Victory (.22lr) Browning Buckmark (.22lr) Ruger GP100 (.357) Ruger LCPII (.380) I'm thinking that the only "hole" I really need to fill in my collection is a 9mm CCW for out of state, or if by some miracle we can carry in NJ. My list of possibilities include the Sig P365, S&W M&P Shield M2.0, or Ruger LC9s Pro. But any of these should be easy enough to get with any of the proposed legislation. I've also thought about getting a Glock 19, mostly just because I don't have one. Given my list, what guns would you be looking at? Any significant gaps or holes you see? I mostly shoot at the range for fun, no competition or anything like that. I'd like to stay within my existing calibers for ammo simplicity unless there's a compelling reason for another caliber. My town turns permits around in 2 weeks, so getting new permits isn't really an issue. I'd also like to consider any pistols that may be more difficult or costly to acquire should a 10 round mag limit be adopted, or any of the BS bills currently in the works.
  17. I'm starting to put together the parts to do my first AK build. I'm part of a few automotive forums where members share/rent specialty tools with other members of the forum. Does such a thing exist here? I have access to a drill press and hydraulic press, just looking into other options besides purchasing all of the jigs, etc.
  18. Thinking about starting my AK build. I have a stripped stamped fixed-stock receiver, but am in need of all other parts. Can anyone provide me with links to decent parts kits or reputable sellers? I'm not looking to build anything crazy. Just want a reliable, functional range toy. Thanks in advance for any help/guidance.
  19. I have two PSA AR's and have had zero problems with either of them. I just bought a third one this morning for my wife. They're both super accurate & reliable, and were a great price. I've been waiting for PSA's 20" upper to come back in stock for months. You can sign up for an email notification on their website. If I recall, they were $529, so the Del-Ton might be a better deal. http://palmettostatearmory.com/20-hammer-forged-chrome-lined-mp-rifle-kit.html
  20. I bought the Victory over the Mark III a couple of months ago because of the takedown issues. I guess I'm going to have to pick up a Mark IV now.
  21. Check this out: https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2016/9/22/ruger-introduces-one-button-takedown-mark-iv-pistol/ https://youtu.be/MqbiyPMA7CE I imagine this is going to sell very well. Curious if anyone has seen one in person yet.
  22. Make sure the takedown screw is tight. It has a tendency to come loose. I put a lock washer on it and haven't had a problem since.
  23. I love my SR1911. It was my first 1911 (and only) and first .45. It has taken a little while to get used to, but definitely fun to shoot.
