  1. I just purchased a 1911 online about a month ago. You have all the steps right, just a different order. At least in my case, I had to go to the FFL dealer in person, pay upfront, fill out the forms (e.g. who I purchased the gun from, what type of gun, yadda, yadda) then they contact the seller, usually by fax. Then when the gun comes in, the FFL dealer calls you up and you pick it up, after they do a background check. New law went into effect, you no longer have to wait 15 days for the background check. They do it right there. I didn't pay sales tax either. RR
  2. A/C? LOL Heck no. I have a little fan that blows hot air in my face. Just add another 10-15 degrees inside the truck. Today it was 116. The UPS guy that delivers the route I'm on, died yesterday from heat stroke. 57 years old, getting ready for retirement. Shame.
  3. I'm a mailman, I can shoot anywhere! LOL
  4. I just purchased a Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader. Sweet!
  5. Yep, unfortunately it's the same paperwork, however, if your FID is less than a year old, you don't have to go through the whole process again (e.g. ID's, fingerprinting, references, etc.). In New Jersey you are allowed to obtained 3 purchase permits, that are 90 days. I did that the last time, and purchased my guns. If you pass the 90 days without using the permit, you can return it for a replacement with no hassles. After a year, you'll need to get a money order for $18.00 for a background check. RR
  6. I'm applying for mine this Saturday. My buddy did his, took 6 months before the permits started trickling in.
  7. It's near impossible to get a Carry permit in New Jersey. You can apply, but I don't you'll get one. RR
  8. So I went to get another permit for a gun I just purchased, The officer hands me the same paperwork I filled out when I first applied for my gun permit. I looked at her, "I just want a permit to purchase a gun", "That's it" she says". "This is the same paperwork I filled out when I first applied", "yep" she says. I shake my head. I guess my gun will be sitting at the FFL dealer for who knows how long! Sheesh! RR
  9. Hello everyone, just signed up. looking forward to chatting with everyone here. I'm a newbie, just got hooked and I'm loving it. Just hate all the paperwork. LOL RR
