NJ SAFE Conference 2016
Candyman87 replied to John Willett's topic in Legislative Alerts and Rallies
I'll be there! My parents are a 20 minute drive so I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed! Can't wait -
Very nice. Almost too pretty to shoot. ALMOST!

Two more years for 15 round mags...that done??
Candyman87 replied to gunnarsport's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
I left for many reasons. Only one of which is the crap gun laws but another straw on the proverbial camel's back. I didn't leave my career or my job. I instead commute 45 minutes from the west instead or 55 minutes from the east. Now I carry every day when I get home from work and all weekend. My insurance rates are way down and so is my cost of living. And my Senator actually cares about what I have to say. I'll take that. -

So I should be expecting more of you guys joining me in PA? -
Boy Scouts, Forestburg Scout Res. Rifle Shooting merit badge?
Candyman87 replied to CAPTAIN's topic in General Discussion
Hmm. Always wondered what those were. I got my rifle merit badge at Camp Allamuchy. Unfortunately no photos from my time there. -
Grilled up some skirt steak tonight. Had to celebrate the warm weather. But I generally grill year round regardless.

Exactly. Much better than my old P22 with anything other than Mini-Mags. This was using cheapie bulk Federal ammo. I'll take one!

My First AR and build...Which Stock...Adj or Fixed?
Candyman87 replied to TonyS.'s topic in AR Discussion
Love my Magpul fixed carbine stock. While I live and mostly shoot in PA, I'll pull off the adjustable stock and slide this over the buffer tube. One screw and its permanently attached at the same length I normally use on the collapsible. Not adjustable but the next best option. -
I shot it the other day at S&W day at Heritage Guild in Easton. Long story short, I wanted to like it and I did! At 7 yards everything I shot was in the 10 ring or touching it. Almost no recoil and the controls were very reminiscent of a 1911. Didn't have to search for the slide stop or magazine release. Only caveat, one stovepipe out of about 50 rounds but I chalked that up to a new model in the rental inventory probably getting a LOT of use and not enough cleaning.

Love my PPQ. Have debated getting the 5" version too!

Apple fighting the Government on creating a backdoor for phones.
Candyman87 replied to Maksim's topic in General Discussion
Love it! That being said, I'm 100% behind Apple on this... if it was a one-time deal, they should do it. But they would lose my business if they opened up a backdoor that the government (or anyone else for that matter) can access. If I want someone to have access, I will grant it to them. My girlfriend's fingerprint can unlock my phone. I have nothing to hide; I keep no secrets from her, but that doesn't mean I shout every part of my day from the rooftops for all to hear. Privacy is privacy. Would you like to live in a glass house too? -
Aw man, mine's just the regular NRA Stand and Fight version (same as my regular 2016 before the upgrade) with the Expiration Date: EPL. You can log into your account on nramemberservices.org and click on your membership. It will give you an option to make payments online ($25 / $50 / $75 / $100 / balance of your EPL) ... or if you prefer to wait for the statements in the mail, you can write them a bigger check that they'll tack onto your account.

Since I moved to free America (Pennsylvania) I've been using Alien Gear holsters. Couldn't be happier, at least for semi's. Looking for something a little easier to holster my J-frame in.
-
That would explain the sudden emails from them... must've taken my email address when he left GSA. I don't mind, a few emails here and there... I just couldn't figure out WHY I'm getting them! Next time I'm back in Jersey I might swing by and check 'em out.

Interesting. I may sign up through Cobra One since they're relatively local and if it doesn't happen I'm in the same spot I am now.

Looking to see if anyone has experience with Spartan Group... these guys formerly were affiliated with RTSP and seem to be working with Cobra One Tactical in Great Meadows. I wanted to do some training with them when they were in Randolph and was disappointed when they moved. Did anyone do any training with them? How was the experience? Thanks!
-
Terrible news indeed. Tragic that this individual was injured whether accidentally or on purpose. My condolences to his family and friends. RTSP is the best indoor range I have visited. Great RSO's and great atmosphere. A real shame to see this at such a great range or anywhere for that matter.

The econo lodge shows aren't awful. If you're looking for reloading supplies you'll pay a premium but no hazmat. Other than that there are a few deals but few and far between.
-
The two classics should fall right in your price range. Remington 700 or Winchester 70. And a .308 or .30-06 would be excellent at 200 yards. Or maybe another .223 if that's the range you'll be working at?

I'll be that the Elverson one on 9/12-9/13. Elverson, PA - Sep 12-Sep 13 - Register

Nevermind... didn't see that the Service Grade was on sale too... my favorite .45 for my RIA 1911. Definitely stocking up Thanks!

Large primer pocket or small?
-
Same as my experience. Had to try the G43 and was disappointed. Too small to grip properly, even with my small hands. Too big to pocket carry. Just a weird in-between. I too am ending up with the Shield for CC here in PA. Was really hopeful for the G43 since I actually liked the G42. Guess the lighter recoil of a 95 grain .380 doesn't seem as bad as the 9mm with a tiny frame.
