  1. I ride a Sporty 883 Custom... so I have to ask... what year? 07 and later is fuel injected... in my experience it's more reliable, but power modifications are more costly (ECM remapping every time you do anything i.e. pipes, air cleaner) The 883 is fun on local and back roads... it's peppy... 0-60 pretty darn quick... but at highway speeds, it's pretty miserable. At 600 lbs. and as aerodynamic as a brick in a hurricane, you'll get blown all over the place while the bike struggles to keep up. I bought my 883 with intentions to bore out the cylinders to 1250 and maintain the quicker gearing of the 883's transmission, but frankly, it's not worth the money to mod a Sporty like that. I ride my Sporty 2 up... but will probably be upgrading after I recover financially from my master's degree I'll be upgrading to a Road King. The lady in my life prefers something a little cushier than a Sporty, and frankly, at 28, my back does too. Any specific questions? I've wrenched on mine and a couple others enough... I should be able to answer a thing or two. But no, 20,000 miles is only the beginning.
  2. Love mine... I don't use the 10 rounders anymore!
  3. RTSP has both in their rental inventory. I've shot and enjoyed both, but my avatar should tell you what I ended up buying.
  4. Just tried... $100 of stuff plus rimfire they still charge for shipping everything. Was really hoping that the $100 had to be from non-rimfire ammo to get free shipping. Guess I'll be passing on this one.
  5. I've got the PPQ M2 and have shot the VP9. They're both GREAT pistols. That being said, I like the Walther better and wouldn't trade it for a VP9. Two reasons... Slightly better ergonomics (for me anyway) and a smoother, crisper trigger. The VP9 is very good in both aspects but the PPQ is better for me.
  6. Buy five guns get a free hoodie? ;-)
  7. March 1st I'm doing the same thing. Moving across the river for work but still spend considerable time in Jersey as my family and girlfriend are still in this state. I plan on getting my PaDL and then will be changing my NJ FPID to my PA address so I can still buy handgun ammo when I'm here.
  8. Sorry to hear, but with those quals it sounds like you'll land on your feet! Best of luck!
  9. Nice collection. My buddy has a SR-22 that's fun to shoot, but I prefer my P22Q, especially now that I've added the 5" target barrel. That being said, those are some nice Smiths. I've been itching to try one of those S&W Model 41's. So I have to ask... if you had to pick a favorite...?
  10. I saw that, and am strongly considering it. I do have some Pakistani surplus as well as a few boxes of PPU that I'm planning on reloading the brass. If its still there and I'm shooting it a lot, I'll go for the Greek... until then, I've promised the girlfriend no more major gun purchases until we figure out our new living arrangements. All I know, it'll have his and hers gun safes
  11. Sorry about the delay in getting back with a range report. First things first, the headspace gauges arrived and the bolt closed on the field gauge, with my #1 bolt head. I spent some time searching and tracked down a #2 bolt head that brought the headspace within just within "go" specs and well within "field" specs. I finally got her to RTSP last weekend with the girlfriend. She was as excited to shoot as I was. Shooting seated using a rest, I was able to pull my face back from the stock once I sighted in for the first round (just in case) and had no problems, so I got behind the gun for the next few rounds. I was shooting at 15 yards (iron sights and 11x18" targets) but was getting 1" groups from a less than stable position. I tried a few rounds standing using the sling to brace, and was hitting the same decent groups. Then I let the girlfriend finish the box once I was confident it was safe to shoot. My opinion? Lots of fun. Less recoil than I had anticipated (but then again I was shooting 150 grain soft points instead of 174 grain FMJ's, but we'll see what happens when I get out to Cherry Ridge with it) and got some looks. It's a shame it was sporterized, but I'm going to leave it as-is right now. I'm not a huge fan of the sights (but I can get used to them) ... after all the Enfield was a battle rifle, not a target rifle. I was hitting center mass of whatever I was aiming at. It'll definitely do. And I'm no longer looking to restore it. After taking a tape measure to it, the barrel was cut down when it was sporterized, so it's actually too short for the proper stock and fore end. Either way, sporterized or all original, I've got a gun that shoots great and looks cool and definitely has some history. More range reports coming once I get it outside to have some fun
  12. Absolutely. $0.20 a round isn't much of a deal when I can get Blazer Brass for the same price and actually have reusable brass. I can get WWB regularly for about $0.23 a round, and my own reloads are around $0.14. Saving $0.02-0.03 a round isn't worth the potential issues to me.
  13. Both are great guns. I went PPQ for the ergonomics. But if the Glock fits your hands better, you've got a great gun in your hands.
  14. I've run into other issues with FM... A lot of dimpled primers, a couple rounds that were pushed in. Long story short is the inconsistency and the IMT brass they use keeps me from shooting their stuff. It's not bad for what you pay but I'll take my WWB any day and reload the brass.
  15. I've been adding it to my orders at Midway whenever I need something. $0.08 a round for Standard Velocity is fine by me for now.
  16. Get pulled over and play nice... the guy's just doing his job. If you have firearms legally in the car, you're in the clear. Unless you're doing something REALLY stupid, he'll probably just give you his ticket and be on his way. If you have bumper stickers saying "Keep Honking I'm Reloading" it might get him to ask the question. This is why there are NO stickers on my car. There is nothing to tell what's under my cargo cover, and when I play nice, the cop will let me off with the ticket I deserve (if he isn't nice enough to bump it down to a seatbelt violation) and be on my way. Last time I was pulled over I was on my way scuba diving. Cop pulled me over and I was shocked that I had an expired registration (I bought the car in November and it expired in April... 5 months made no sense to me) and he was shocked too. Gave me my ticket and told me to take care of it on Monday since the DMV was closed. Play nice, and everyone goes home.
  17. I can't agree more... earlier this year is when I really got bit... bought an 870 with a 28" barrel and shot a dozen or more rounds. I just got a good deal on an 1187 for Black Friday and jumped on it. My 870 barely gets touched anymore. Well, not for clays.
  18. Anyone ever wants to check out my guns I'm happy to oblige. Most expensive thing I shoot is .303 Brit... and at $0.75 a round I'm happy to let you have 2 or 3. Just don't lose my brass.
  19. You can get a brand new 870 with a 28" Vent Rib barrel in your price range. That's what I used as for clays for a while until I got my 11-87. Or I'm sure you can find a used 1100, 1187 in that price range as well. Or a Stevens 555 Over Under (made by Savage)... they're all good choices. I've done trap shooting with an 18" barrel, the 28" is a godsend compared to it.
  20. Congrats and best of luck!!!
  21. Garden State Armory & Reloading in Warren. Highly recommended. http://gardenstatearmory.com
  22. Pete- a while back I was renting some 1911's to try out. I loved a few of them and one was getting awful groups... Couldn't figure out why until halfway through the box of ammo. Turns out the pin holding the adjustable sight in place was missing so I took it back to the counter and swapped it out after telling him of the issue. The next week I was back in and looked through the cabinet to see if there was anything new worth trying. Funny enough that same 1911 was back in the case with the same pin missing. Floppy sights for the next guy to waste his time on too!
  23. Not bad... I'm 62 days in here in Madison and counting. What are you planning to use them on?
