  1. We can call that option 1a) You don't know that you become a felon (most likely) not to be confused with option 1b) You become a felon and know about it because you're a member of NJGF.
  2. Depending on how things are written one of three things: 1) Become a felon overnight 2) Become a felon within 30-90 days (grace period to dump the offending firearms at below-market values due to a flood of people selling) 3) Possession could be grandfathered by those who own them and only ban the sale of new shotguns (laughable, especially in NJ)
  3. The only two on that list I've ever enjoyed shooting are the G42 and PPS.
  4. Based on the fact that you call them cerebral people and you believe that a classroom setting would be beneficial, I would recommend an NRA First Steps Pistol or NRA Basic Pistol Course, the latter of which is fairly comprehensive. Will they be doing all their shooting with you for a while? Or will they be venturing out and purchasing their own?
  5. Got a chance to shoot the BX-15's tonight. Whole box of Remington Golden Bullet and it ate everything! Definitely my favorite purchase for the 10/22.
  6. You pay it either way. The company builds it into their margins.
  7. Awesome guys! Malice4you I'll try printing these on label paper for my trip to the range later this week. Thanks for posting this!
  8. I bought a pack of 10... I'll scan then blow up to 8.5 x 11... What paper would everyone recommend for good holes? 24 lb. ?
  9. These are the only ones I've found... but I may buy them and blow them up to a slightly larger size to use at 15-25 yards instead of the 4-5 yards they were designed for.
  10. Long story short, at the range the girlfriend and I have taken to try to shoot out the red center of targets with my 10/22. I'd like to track down some of those Red Star carnival type targets where you get a prize if there is no red left. The only ones I can find are the legitimate carnival surplus ones that are 5" x 6.5". I'd like to find a bigger version. Anyone heard of this?
  11. This... can't recommend it enough! I've got one at home and one in the office. http://www.amazon.com/OKeeffes-Working-Hands-Cream-3-4/dp/B00121UVU0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420407356&sr=8-1&keywords=working+hands
  12. Those work too! I just haven't gotten around to spending the money on one...
  13. Looks like a nice variety of rounds... Since you're shooting a mix of both pistol (9mm is only around a ~5-6 grain charge) and rifle (338 Lapua is around a ~100 grain charge) I'd probably look into getting a second powder measure. Here's why: The standard RCBS powder measure comes with a cylinder that will do up to 100 grains of most powders. That unfortunately means it's not so accurate for pistol loads. RCBS sells a cylinder that does up to 50 grains of most powders, which allows you to dial in your pistol charges a lot more accurately. Since I primarily load pistol, I use the small cylinder. My .303 Brit is at the high end of that cylinder, but a .338 Lapua would need to get charged twice with the smaller cylinder. Other than that, I think the Rock Chucker Supreme Kit has almost everything you need. Just will need a case trimmer on top of all that. As far as references: Lyman's Handgun Cartridge Manual is a great book, as well as the ABC's of reloading. The NRA Metallic reloading handbook gives a lot of background as to the WHY you do what you do, and not just WHAT you do. Helps you make better decisions when deciding to substitute or not. When you get into the actual nitty gritty and loads, I compare a Speer Manual, Hodgdon Manual, and Lyman manuals, as well as manufacturer websites. I use Loadbooks.com as well too (about $11 shipped for a manual compiled from many sources that are caliber specific)... helps me narrow down info when getting into a new cartridge, and covers more bullets than a single manufacturer's manual. And as Carl_G said... watch youtube, but with a grain of salt. Many loaders on there don't actually know why they're doing what they do and there have been several videos I've seen where people recommend something un-kosher (for lack of better terms). Watch multiple videos and you can be fairly certain that the things that are consistent are correct.
  14. First, make sure you know what you're doing before you start reloading. Do a lot of reading. Never trust just one source. Find a local mentor. Second, the Rock Chucker is a great single stage press. I've loaded thousands of rounds on mine, mostly pistol calibers but it is serving me well as I start reloading for my .303 British Enfield. What calibers are you looking to reload?
  15. And Cabela's does it in the stores... the roundup for conservation. Not 2A specifically, but it does benefit us.
  16. Don't forget Midway also does this... allows you to round up to the nearest dollar to donate to the NRA.
  17. More taxes, less freedom, what reason do I have to stay?
  18. Glad to see a PPQ and a PPK on the list... I was lucky enough to get both this past year. This year the girlfriend and I are looking to move in together so we've committed to buying no new guns between us. But I did get a Remington 1187 and a Sporterized Enfield No. 4 and she got a Remington 870 in the past two months.
  19. Hi guys -- I picked up the Enfield the other day... turns out it wasn't a No. 1 but a No. 4 Mk. in .303 British I which excites me. I've always found the variations of the No. 4 rifles fascinating. Here's what I know for... Canadian made Long Branch Armory produced 1944 No. 4 Mk. I* that was converted to a Mk. 3 later in life. The conversion makes it a No. 4 Mk. I*/3 and was done at Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley via factory through repairs. It was sporterized later in life and currently sports a less-than-original stock which I'll be looking to replace. But here she is in her current glory... the stock is nice and fits me well. Just not original. I'll be working to track down proper surplus stock to restore it to its former glory. Don't worry, I've got headspace gauges on the way. Want to double check the headspace before I shoot it. The previous owner only fired 20 rounds through it and sold because he wanted something with more affordable ammo. Right up my alley since I've been looking for a new round to reload.
  20. Just got into it but I may be able to help.
  21. This is the important part... I have someone else go through my car before I leave for DC. Better safe than sorry because I always leave a piece of brass I picked up on my way out of the range and leave it in my center console or something silly. As far as what to do? Spy Museum, National Museum of American History, National Air and Space Museum, and National Archives if you haven't been. I've also really enjoyed the National Museum of the American Indian... I still have a few Smithsonians that I haven't been to. Keep meaning to get to the Marine Corps Museum, NRA Museum and Udvar-Hazy Center, but I haven't had the chance.
  22. I've got two on the way... hopefully they work as well as the BX-25 works in free states
