  1. Yeah remove that heat trap nipple from the tank, and replace it with a new one. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  2. Usually the water company will make you have a plumber change the pressure reducing valve. That falls under our scope of work. Unless the water company has a master plumbing license attached to their company... Lol @ vampire tap... yeah bro saddle valves are illegal in NJ. They're for unskilled hacks. Yep install a tee between the tank and cold valve. Try to run it about a minimum of 12" away. And secure it with some type of hangar. Pretty easy. If you can solder you're home free. 3. Go with the 12, just make sure you match the tank pressure in it, to your house pressure, that's important. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. Regardless, his pressure reducing valve should stop that surging from entering his house. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. Here is one of my water heater installs on my Barbers town house. This is how the tank should be installed. Notice I have it supported with a threaded rod hanger. That's important if it ever ruptured down the road, it wouldn't break off. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Following their sizing chart to your house/system size. I always go slightly larger if I'm not 100% sure. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. St12 is correct. They have an 8 and 12 for potable water. 5 and 10 are for heating systems. Again long week lol. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. Yes it's Amtrol. Extrol is their well tank line. Don't know why I typed extrol... long week. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. The regulator won't allow water pressure increases to push back to the street. It's like a check valve. So the pressure inside the system increases as a result, and you have issues like relief valves blowing off, or surging coming out of a faucet. With the tank it's like a big cushion for the now heated & expanding water to push into, keeping the static pressure the same in the system. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 2015 code change made it mandatory. The 2009 code was still in effect in 2013 wasn't adopted in that version. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Was it inspected by the town after it was installed? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  10. It happens. Get an Extrol ST10 that's the larger of the two screw in tanks. That size works on just about every house. Unless you're living in a 10 bath, 8000 Sq foot mansion. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  11. Thermal expansion tank. It has a bladder inside to absorb the increase in pressure from the appliance. It's code. And it will stop the pressure climb he's having. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  12. Thermal expansion from the water heater will cause the pressure to climb in the system. Sounds like your PRV is working if it dropped when you adjusted it. The PRV also acts as a back flow prevention device. So when your water heater fires the increased pressure cannot go anywhere. In NJ if you have a Pressure reducing valve on your water main, you MUST by code also have a thermal expansion tank. Get an Extrol ST10 I'm assuming you have an average sized house? 75gal is a good sized water heater. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  13. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I'm a licenced master plumber in NJ. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  14. Do you have a pressure reducing valve on the main at the meter? (60psi is normal for municipal supply residential water service. Pressure will vary at different times of the day due to demand. 80psi is max allowed in any plumbing system in NJ, residential or commercial.) Is there a thermal expansion tank on the cold side of the water heater? If not, you need one. If there is, it probably has a ruptured bladder and needs to be replaced because it's now waterlogged. Shut off the main, relieve all the pressure from the system, and check the air charge on the tank, with a tire pressure gauge. It should be set to your static pressure, which in this case is 60psi. If it's not either add or remove air till it's at 60lbs. Then turn the water back on to the house. Problem solved, where do I send the invoice? You're welcome... lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. Someone tagged me? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. I always get them non compliant. I have a whole bunch of useless A2 flash hiders. I think I'm going to make them into keychains. Lol. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Yep. Been looking at it for a long time sitting in the safe. I still have 3 or 4 more stripped lowers in there. That was the first one I grabbed lol. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  18. I have the jaws for copper up to 4", Black Iron jaws up to 2", Viega Pex jaws to 1", and Parker zoom lock jaws for doing refrigeration. Can't remember the last time I touched my B-tank. Or my Ridgid 300 threader. All dust collectors now. Every boiler install I press everything, gas pipes, and steam I press too. I've evolved with the trade I guess. None of this stuff existed when I was an apprentice 20 years ago. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. We can't bend tubing anymore, unless it's type L-bt or M-bt. Can't even find it these days. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  20. I'm doing my own root canal next time I need one. Lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  21. The brand I use are made in Germany. Tell me about it. But I don't pay for them my customers do. The time savings more than makes up for the slightly higher price in material though. I charge hourly. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. They rent them. But yeah not cheap to buy. I have 2. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  23. Make sure you have that tank less serviced every year. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  24. Lol best thread ever... I have the same friend. Calls me at the butt cracking of dawn constantly, for the craziest things. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
