  1. I think it might have been either the Delaware or Maryland welcome center that we stopped at, but I'm not sure. What is the issue with Maryland?
  2. We went down 95 pretty much the whole way then followed the gps to and eventually ended up on rt 66 to FairFax, VA. I made two stops on the way down, one in Philly to pick up my friends, second at a rest stop to get a redbull. Once I arrived at my friend's residence he locked them in his safe. Driving back North today we stopped for gas at service center, philadelphia, and then back home.
  3. Thanks everyone again for the tips and advice. We went to Sharpshooters on Saturday and it was a good time. The range was empty and everyone was very friendly. My only complaint was inside the ports was an ice box! I shot a few of my friend's guns and looks like Christmas I might get another one :x
  4. We will be going to the Sharpshooters range, my friend has been before and said it is good. I have my 2 pistols in my range bag with trigger locks + locks through the slides. I have my ammo in an ammo can, but it is not locked. Should I buy a lock for my ammo can too? Thanks for all the help!
  5. Going away this weekend, wish me luck! Anyone have recommendations on ranges near Fairfax VA
  6. Yes they will be unloaded, magazines and guns in separate compartments and ammo in separate compartments. I am not too worried about traveling in VA with them in my friend's car given his position, but my concern was traveling in NJ to PA down to VA with them. Thanks for the insight!
  7. I am planning to visit my friend who lives in VA in approximately 2 weeks. He works for a government agency and has an array of pistols and rifles. I would like to while down there to go to the range with him and bring my XDM 9 and 1911 to let him try. What are the regulations if I was to put locks on my guns and transport them from NJ to VA in my trunk? I would be stopping in Philadelphia to pick up 2 friends and then heading down, but the guns would remain in my trunk until we reach my friend's residence, where they would then be locked in his safe. I've never transported my guns beyond the range and would like some insight. Thank you, Brandon
  8. Welcome to the forums girlfriend
  9. hmm good point, I think I'm going to go with the DD w/ the aimpoint then! Thank you!
  10. I was looking into building the AR and browsed a bunch of different build threads, etc. This is what I came up with, open to suggestions and if I'm missing anything. Thanks in advance. My Build 1. Lower: .Spike-s Tactical Lower (Multi) Forged Spider - $99.00 or .AGP Arms Forged AR-15 Lower Receiver - $110.00 .Daniel Defense Lower Reciever Parts Kit - $99.00 2. Upper: .Spikes Tactical Upper (5.56) 16" M4 LE w/9" BAR2 Rail - $679.00 3. Sights: .Magpul Back-Up Sight – Rear - $57.99 .Magpul Back-Up Sight – Front - $39.95 4. Stock: .CTR Carbine Stock – Mil-Spec Model - $79.95 The other option is I pickup the deal azmaveth posted for a DD V5 LW with an Aimpoint PRO for $1,639. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=7109-NS
  11. azmaveth that is an awesome deal thank you! How are aimpoint pro optics?
  12. I've been looking at off the shelf buys and looking into daniel defense. Daniel Defense M4 Carbine, v7 (No Sights)https://danieldefense.com/daniel-defense-m4-carbine-v7-no-sights.html I am going to look into building one over the New Year's break and see how that pans out too. Realistically the DD V7 would be nice and then I'd just need to add flip sights and once I get used to it maybe an optic.
  13. Im not set on a quad rail, I've only fired a handful of ARs at the range to be honest. I'm open to suggestions other than the S&W. I will check out the ones other members have posted.
  14. Sorry posted in the wrong forum area, still learning the site. I am located in North Jersey - Caldwell. I will check out the ones suggested thank you!
  15. So I'm researching AR15s and was thinking of building one, but think I'd prefer to buy one off the shelf. My budget is $1500 and I was looking at this one: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_786045_-1_757784_757784_757784_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y Or I wouldnt be opposed to buying a lower and upper and matching them, but could use some guidance. I've been reading like crazy and my head is spinning, Main use will be for shooting at the range and home defense. Thanks in advance!
