  1. Unfortunately, TN still has some snow in the Winter, so that would be a deal breaker for me. It's also little too close to "Tornado Alley." I'll stick with FL.
  2. If you're really into BBQ, there's a great place I discovered a little south of Chuck-Town just off I-95 in the town of Walterboro called Duke's BBQ. $13.00 all you can eat Buffet of some of the very best BBQ in the area. They are open Wed - Sat 11:00a - 9:00p and Sun 11:00a - 2:00p. If you choose to go on Sunday, get there as early as possible because the "Sunday Brunch" crew gets there right after Church and you may not even get near the place. https://dukes-barbecue.business.site/
  3. I've heard a 3 judge panel of the 9th circuit just overturned this... https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/01/20/9th-circuit-court-gun-store-covid-shutdowns-violated-constitution/ At least, for a little while, until it goes "en banc" and they re-instate it.
  4. Yep. Hilliard Fl is a nice area and there is also an AMTRAk stop there.
  5. Clay and Columbia Counties are also very good. I'm familiar with Fort White and the Columbia County seat of Lake City. It has eveyrthing you'd need.
  6. And not so far upstate, either. Dutchess county is pretty conservative. I once attended a meeting of the "Amenia Fish and Gun club," up in Amenia, NY. There are other spots around NY State that are just as liberal and anti-gun as is NYC. Consider Ithaca NY, home of Cornell U and Ithaca College. Also the area around the two counties that host the "Attica St. Prison," near Buffalo. This map is kinda old, but it tells the story... I'm amazed Ulster county is "Yellow" and not "Red" (home of the villiage of Woodstock).
  7. That, and I think that NY'ers have a much higher affinity to NYC than NJians do to NJ. They love it more than I think NJ'ans love NJ. I mean, how many Newark residents say the same things about Newark? I also think, in most cases, property taxes are much higher in NJ overall than NY State. Maybe not higher than NYC, but a lot higher than NY State.
  8. Trust me, you'll want "North" Florida. Anything north of I-4, except for Orlando and Jacksonville. Everywhere else incurs the risk of "progressives." We often joke that the "New South" ends at I-4. Some even say it's I-10, but....
  9. I just saw our own @gunforhire aka Anthony Colandro on Newsmax TV. He was providing color on the Rust Movie shooting and demonstrated why it was impossible for Alec Baldwin to claim what he had claimed. He used an SAO revolver to demonstrate. I agree with him. I think Mr. Baldwin is in some serious trouble. Good on ya Ant!
  10. I'm seeing a news blip on Newsmax that says that Sweeney has conceded to Mr. Durr. He cites a "red wave." Hmmmmmm.....
  11. The only thing is, the "Rs" we have are mostly RINOs. Not willing to fight for pro-2A, less govt., etc.etc.
  12. So do we (like DeSantis). And you can't have him until 2028. He needs to finish both of his terms as FL Gov.
  13. Not if too many liberals from NJ move down here and want to set up socialism, etc. etc. etc. And, trust me, there are enough FL legislators (many of the directly from NY/NJ) that would love to see that happen.... along with "The Rodent," FRF, etc. etc.....
  14. For us, it's more an issue of them prohibiting CCW in the park, and using scanners/magnetometers to prevent people from doing so. They won't even allow people to have them in the parking lot, although that may very well violate the law. They don't care. That, of course, combined with their generally anti-gun position and their trying to buy all the RINOs in the FL legislature they can. Never been.... Never going.
  15. Our little term of endearment for the "Walt Disney Organization." Also known as "The Mouse," "The Rat," etc. etc. I use "The Rodent" as an "in between." "The Rat" being a bit too harsh, and "The Mouse" being a bit too easy. Most people down here use "The Mouse."
  16. Hello all from Florida. Not so warm and sunny today (it's 55˚F this morning but could get up to the 70s). Anyway, the sad part: Although I will hold onto a little hope that Jack Ciattarelli might just be able to pull it off and outlast Murphy, it's not looking real good right now. The happy part: I'm so happy to see Steve Sweeney GONE! And I'm also happy as to how it happened. God bless Edward Durr! I hope more heads roll in the NJ legislature. We are having similar issues, here in FL. We have a bunch of RINOs in the legislature. We are working to get them on "permanent vacation." They allowed "Red Flag" laws to happen, here. We stand almost no chance to get "Constitutional Carry" passed here. In fact, many don't even want it passed because they know that the legislature will demand reparations for it, Currently, posted "no gun" signs do not have the force of law, as they do in Texas (30.06 & 30.07). If Constitutional Carry were to be passed, expect that to change, The signs will, magically, acquire the "force of law." Remember what we're dealing with in FL that no other state has. We have "The Rodent," and the FRF (Florida Retail Federation)... both rabidly anti-gun. Hence, the number of RINOs in the legislature. We have to work to get them out, just as y'all got rid of Sweeney. Congrats on that!
  17. Thanks much! I appreciate it. BTW, I traded up a little... I have an upgrade for you... Don't stick my voodoo doll too much!
  18. Hey all! Long time no type! Hope all are coping well, up there. Sorry to bump this old thread, but I wanted to try and get a reading on the "legality" of the Shockwave in current times (2021). I've read all the Nappen articles from 2017-2018, and I understand that many on here feel Nappen was wrong about the "Destructive Device" clause making them illegal in NJ. I just wanted to see if that has changed in more recent times. @remixer Steve. maybe you could provide some more insight? The reason I ask is that I currently own two of them in Florida. But I plan to give one of them to my nephew who is just graduating college. The question becomes, where does he settle after graduation. If he will remain in NJ but at his own residence (not with his mom, my sister, who won't allow firearms in the house), then I could FFL it to him. But I don't want to risk that if there's a significant risk that he might be prosecuted for possessing one in NJ. I'll keep it here for him in FL to use when he comes down or, perhaps, when he does settle somewhere else (in a free state). I'm doing something similar with my niece (his older sister) who just graduated Physical Therapy school (she has her doctorate (PtD) and just passed her licensing exam in Virginia. She'll be getting a RIA 1911 .45acp when she gets me her updated DL. Anyway, hope you are all doing very well. I'm doing well in FL. I've branched into long range shooting now and recently acquired a "Ruger Precision Rifle" in .308 Win. It's a beast! I'm looking to take some long range shooting classes, here in Fl. I'm officially "retired" now, but I do a little side work here and there. I might even become an NRA instructor for basic firearms. If any of you might come down this way, let me know and I'll take you to my range. There's a 2000 yrd range on it. Thanks, and take care for now. Regards, Arnold
  19. Hi All, It's been a long time and I hope all here are well! I'm writing because a fellow patriot of ours needs our help. Please take a look at this video from "Guns & Gadgets." He needs our help in contacting Sen. Joe Manchin (D Wv.)and putting pressure on him to not vote to end the Filibuster in the Senate. Apparently HR8 (Universal Background Check) bill and HR1446 (Extended NICS delays) have already passed the House and are on their way to the Senate as early as tomorrow. The only thing that will stop them in the Senate is the Filibuster. We absolutely need all of us to contact Joe Manchin and tell him, "We stand with you and hope you keep the filibuster alive." Certainly the Anti-gun forces (MOMS and EVERYTOWN) are already applying pressure to him to vote to eliminate it. Please, review this video and try to contact Sen. Joe Manchin to keep the Filibuster alive. It may be the only thing that helps us keep what dwindling 2A rights we have left. Certainly after Merrick Garland was just confirmed as Atty Gen. We are going to need all the help we can get! Thanks all! Good to "type" everyone again.
  20. Hope all of my fellow former NJ'ians are hanging in a mid all this Corona frenzy! We here in Fl are feeling some of the effects. While we are not under a "shelter-in-place" order in my area, yet, most of the beaches are, thanks to those idjuts on "Spring Break" infecting each other. My biggest issue is all the panic buying going on. The shelves are totally bare in our grocery stores. Thankfully, I had hit Costco in January and got my big block of Toilet Paper (I SWEAR... I WASN'T INSIDER TRADING!!!) But just getting every day groceries is an issue. I'm really pi$$ed that Murphy declared 2A stores, etc. "non-essential" and closed them down. Thankfully, FL Gov. DeSantis declared ours "essential." Now, if we can only get some ammo... Anyway, Stay Safe. I still have family in NJ and I worry about them.
  21. My concern is only that it was a huge Trump Rally on FNC, and the dems may try to play that as a "Trump is weak" thing.....
  22. It also looks like it's "too close to call" in the Kentucky Gov's race, with the dem (Beshear) slightly ahead (49.2% - 48.8%)... They've (Beshear) already declared victory but the GOP (Bevan) is not yet conceding.... We'll see....
