  1. Yes, it will..... If you aren't on the road by 06:00am in the morning, fugheddaboutit!
  2. I'm not sure it's "just the battery." After all, the battery (or whatever's left of it) still maintains a full charge. It could be a different component. But whatever it is, it's caused the case to be "bent out of shape. The case and, especially the screen, is no longer flat. It's "distorted/inflated" around the 9 o'clock position as you're facing it, vertically. And the distortion can be felt on both the front and the back. Still, it works. And as long as it does, I can use it. I just hope it stays usable until the 5G phones come out, and 5G is available in my area. Or, perhaps, as suggested elsewhere, I can upgrade a GS9.
  3. I'd be in the IT bracket, trust me. And I agree, I don't want to "beta test" either. But if I go with the 4G LTE phone, I'm committed to it for a long time. I won't upgrade again for maybe 5+ years. And by then, they're probably up to 6G. We'll have to see.
  4. As it so happens, my old 4G LTE smart phone (a GS5) is showing its age. It still works, and it seems to keep a full charge, but it appears to have "puffed out..." (i.e. an inflated battery.. maybe it corroded or not, I don't know). You can definitely see the expansion, even inside its Otter box casing. Still, it is 100% functional and, as stated, keeps a full charge. But, for how long, I'm not sure. Thus, the dilemma of buying a new smart phone. But the greater dilemma being, do I stay with 4G LTE or do I wait for 5G to emerge, it being very close to release. My experience in IT and general technology tells me to "stick with 4G LTE" and not be on the "bleeding edge" of new technologies. I know what the new 5G technologies are supposed to do in re: capacity, speed, etc., but I also know that it's dependent on getting newer and more local towers installed (the tower range is shorter), and I'm not sure of the costs for data service on a 5G network. Frankly, I don't use the Internet that much on my 4G LTE phone (or tablet) due to the costs. But if that's where the future technology is going...... So, are any of you keen to move to 5G or are you likely to keep status quo for a while? Should I wait for the 5G phones to come out (I think Samsung's first model would be the GS10+), or should I just go for a GS9 or something like that?
  5. Yup.... I'm probably more on your side of the age pendulum that you think, but I hope I still have a few years left, and I hope that I still can enjoy my avocation, as well as plan for the appropriate disposition of my "inventory" after I'm gone.
  6. Agreed. It's just a matter of time, now. The only questions being: 1) How long before there are enough Antis in your state to get any pro 2A laws or constitutional elements repealed? 2) How long before what's left of the supporters of 2A either: a) Leave the USA and form their own country b) engage the antis in "Civil War 2.0" in an effort to carve out a piece of the USA to form their own country? 3) Will I live long enough to see either happen? It might not matter with me as I might not live long enough to see either happen, but I have to worry for my younger family and my friends. They'll be in for a rough time. And I also worry about what will happen to my "inventory." In re: the currently active poll, there's one selection missing... "Do you even have a spouse with which to discuss your firearms??? And my answer is, "No!" I have to plan carefully. We all do.
  7. Sadly, same for Florida as well. They won't stop until this entire country has turned "socialist..."
  8. I think the key is that if you change one document (i.e. the DL or State ID), you must then change the other (FPID). The problem arises when both are "out of sync." I'd think the FFL might have some difficulties in getting you cleared for that given purchase. I might also steer clear of acquiring any P2Ps with the old name as well... if that's applicable.
  9. I'm in a similar situation in that my GS5 is starting to see it's age. It's already "puffed out" (I think the battery is "inflated" but it still works and keeps a charge. For how long, however, I don't know. The question I'm wrestling is, do I go for a GS9 now, or should I try to wait it out for a GS10 (which I understand will be one of the first to be "5G ready...")???
  10. Fake News.... Isn't the USPO no longer a full part of the Government???
  11. I hear tell that he's going to be given another service mission,,, either at a Veteran's hospital or to another individual veteran to do the same thing.
  12. President George HW Bush (#41) has died at the age of 94. Rest in Peace, #41
  13. THey do have an "on-line chat" on that website. Chat them up tomorrow and ask them what you should do. They might be able to mail you a duplicate at your new address, once you change it.
  14. Do it as soon as you get the notice. The results are certified now, and Nikki Fried is the Commissioner Elect of the FL DOACS. And while most of what affects CWFL holders is governed by FL law and the legislature, she does head the licensing part of it, and she is the keeper of the CWFL database. All she'd have to do is cut the CWFL staff and she can gum up the works and sky rocket delays way beyond what anyone is seeing now. That, and she might "make a mistake" and "accidentally" release the data base to the media or LE. I'm scheduled to renew my FL CWFL in May of 2021. I asked if I could renew well in advance of the expiration date to avoid any such bureaucratic obstacles. If I could, I'd do it before she takes office. But I was told no, you must wait until you get the renewal notice. Once you get it, you can then renew. Our new commissioner might also do something like not mail out the renewal notices until 1 week prior to expiration (currently, they get sent out roughly 150 days before expiration). Anyway, she can't deny a CWFL outside of what the law dictates, but she can make getting one and getting renewals awfully hard.
  15. Not so "yesterday..." and not so "young" anymore. Rest in Peace, Roy. I actually loved to watch Hee Haw in its hey day... I loved the Archie Campbell routines
  16. I'd be a little worried though about the influx from Mass... fleeing the taxes, etc....
  17. OK, here it is folks! And A whole lot of changes! #1 - As always, Arizona, unchanged. #2 Idaho; #3 Alaska (drops from #2); #4 Kasnas. Lots of changes at the bottom and the middle. #51 - New York; #50 New Jersey; #49 Massachusetts; #48 Hawaii, #47 Wash, DC. (Hmmmmmm..... ); #46 California; #45 Connecticut; #44 Maryland etc.... Apparently, NJ is down to #50 (was #49 last year). Surprisingly, Washington DC is #47 Hmmmmmm (again)! As for Florida, we're down from #12 to #23 based mostly on bill #7026. Guns and Ammo: 2018 Best States for Gun Owners List....
  18. Florida is being attacked from a couple of different directions. Of course, from the migration of Northeastern liberal carpetbaggers, but also from the Carribean Islands (Puerto Rico in particular, given last year's storms), Both are causing a serious problem for Florida.
  19. I don't know about chicken in NJ anymore (there were a couple of places I recall as a kid) but, here in Florida, my favorite place is up in cave country. Sisters Cafe in Branford, FL. (Yelp Review)... Roughly $9.50 all you can eat buffet of all different kinds of Southern soul food cooking...And trust, me, the chicken is to die for! The place is packed on Fridays (they have a fish fry on Fri. evenings) and Sunday Brunch. The price goe sup to $11+ on those days and the wait list can be a long time. The best chicken in the area!
  20. Of these two choices, I'd have to go with Popeye's...
  21. *My* logical approach?..... I'd agree. Their's? Yes, they have one, but nothing you or I would ever consider valid or sound. It goes something like, "Whatever fits our agenda is true.... everything else is false/wrong/racist, etc., etc," Anyway...
  22. You're killin' me with this stuff! You really are! How I long for authentic NJ "mom & pop" style Pizza down here in FL (e.g. Dickie Dee's). As for your reference to the Chalfonte Hotel, I had already known about it, having been lucky enough to catch the episode of the Phil Donahue show that featured the late Helen Dickerson and her daughter Dot Burton on the show, and having Phil actually trying some of the "soul food" cooked at the hotel (they brought a bunch of it to the studio in Chicago). I wish the ep. was on DVR, but I have it on VHS tape. If I can digitize it, I'll show you. It's the most hilarious thing I've ever seen... getting Phil to try and eat Pig's feet and Chitlins, etc.. Of course, the audience ate every bit of it that Phil and the production crew were passing out to them. But the funniest part of it were the interactions between the late Ms. Dickerson and Phil, and another guest on the show... Dr. I.D. Rotkin, a cancer specialist who was brought in to counter the menu choices and ingredients used as not being "healthy" and to suggest ways to prepare the food that would be a lot healthier (eliminating salt, bacon fat, etc.) Of course the doctor and Ms, Dickerson locked horns consistently. It was one of the best Phil Donahue shows I've seen and totally freakin' hilarious. If I can find it, I'll point you to it.
  23. As a former NJ'ian and current Floridian, I don't believe that's what they're thinking. They know that these increased laws won't stop the criminals. What they *will* stop are the law abiding citizens from defending their liberties.... thus allowing those "idiot liberal politicians" the power to keep control over the citizenry. That's what they want/need. Again, don't think Sandy Hook, or Las Vegas, or Parkland HS, etc. Think "Ruby Ridge..." think the "Bundy Ranch...." We law abiding pro 2A FL citizens are all extremely concerned about the Gov. election as well. We have to get every last GOP and independent vote out there to get Ron DeSantis elected, Early voting has started here, and the GOP voters seem to be turning out. I wish the MSM wouldn't report that. I want all in our community to think "the sky is falling" up until the last hour of election day to turn out as much of the vote as we can muster... our lives and liberties depend on it!
  24. All clear here in Tampa Bay! The costal areas of my county may have a little bit of storm surge with which to deal, but....
  25. It looks like it will scoot by us, here in the Tampa Bay area. But the panhandle will get hit hard. I hope they survive. We're talking about upwards of 14' storm surge.. And those are very low lying areas as well. My favorite BBQ place in FL is out there. Gotta hope they make it!
