  1. The OP asked about temporarily storing guns at an FFL that provides that basic service, not transfers related to a FFL facilitated sale or protection from spiteful TROs, In the situation you outlined, you transferred the firearm to the FFL so the FFL could transfer the firearm to the buyer. If a seller does not transfer (consign) the firearm to the FFL, the shop cannot perform the transaction unless the seller is there to fill out paperwork. If the sale falls through, then the firearms have to be transferred back because you are technically no longer the owner.
  2. There is no OGAM when leaving your handguns, or any firearm with an FFL like gun sitters. There is no COE or NICS involved in retrieving your firearms, just a claim check and ID. It's the same as dropping off a firearm to a smith for service.
  3. Unlikely. The Garand requires an under powered 30-06 charge to begin with. How many rounds did you send down the pipe, and what ammo was it? If you were shooting regular 30-06 cartridges, you may be over-gassing. It could also be the works are gummed up from sitting for two years. I suggest giving the gun a good field strip cleaning and see what happens.
  4. @Mrs. Peel There are no enablers here, just helpers. We help people discover shit they want, that, for whatever reason, they had not yet realized they wanted.
  5. I swear, some of y'all need arm twisting to have fun.
  6. It was a good day, about 15 show up, and we snagged a new member. We had three traps going, with two set up throwing doubles, that was a hoot. Several birds and one deer decided to play no-man's-land WW I style, I'm actually surprised two of the suicidal birds didn't get shot as they crossed paths with targets. The biggest news of the day, Peel broke clays while they were still in the air, what's more, she did it three times in a row. Just goes to show that the right gun can improve your game.
  7. I'll try to get the date posted about two weeks beforehand.
  8. Everything but the guns loaded up, just have to stop for gas and a poorly made breakfast sandwich. I should be there around 0830 to secure a spot and set up. White 05 Silverado crew cab with a thin blue line flag magnet on tailgate

  10. Today around noon, on 71 in W Long Branch, three dudes, one of them carrying old glory, doing some kind of long distance run. They were escorted by NJSP and NJDOT and local cops at major intersections along the rout. Any idea what that's about
  11. I read a long time ago that the Chinese used to burn oleander, using it as a chemical weapon to wipe out villages down wind. It may be some legend, I honestly don't know.
  12. FYI If you have respiratory issues like I do, an N95 filters out most of the pollutants and a P100 completely eliminates them. Remember, long before covid, these masks were meant for industrial use. What you are breathing in smells like smoke, and it probably is mostly smoke (not that that is great) but you have to wonder what else you are breathing in. Okay, I'll admit it, I''m kinda wondering why there are over 100 fires burning in Canada and if the smoke is a smokescreen for something else.
  13. So, lemme get this straight. The political party that promotes the social theory that "silence is violence", believes non physical predatory crime is not violent.
  14. Tell your old lady that you are volunteering to clean up state land that morning. Technically it's not a lie if you police all your spent shells. Just make sure you put the shotty and stuff in the car the night before.
  15. I'll be doing a south jerz shoot at Stafford Forge WMA in a few weeks. Probably the front end of July.
  16. Pro tip: When my wife goes to the range with me, I always stand BEHIND her when she's on the line.
  17. Jeez, babies... wife's b'days.... What's with these lame excuses.
  18. This would be a great opportunity for your wife to shoot that case of #8 12Ga target loads you bought for her b'day.

  20. FYI, I'll be bringing a chronograph to test my reloads. If anyone wants to speed check your gun, you are welcome to use it.
  21. Howdy folks. It's about time we get together to turn some money into noise. Come join us 6-11-23 at the Clinton WMA shotgun range for a morning of clay busting fun. If you will be joining the fun, please let us know how many will attend and what you are bringing so we can plan for supplies. Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots usually go until about 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to stop in at any time and join the party. As always, these clay shoots are informal gatherings, just plain old fun to promote clay sports and encourage training, please feel free to bring friends and family. Shooters of all experience are welcome, if you have never shot clays before, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that shotgun you bought years ago and gain some needed experience. What you will need. Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Targets are usually available at Walmart in Clinton, Flemington, and Phillipsburg. Don't forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink. There is a port-a-potty on site If you don't have a shotgun and just want to see what clay shoot'n is all about, a loaner pump action will be available. Basic Checklist Shotgun Ammo Eye and ear protection (mandatory) Clay targets (optional but recommended for volume shooters) Shell pouch (optional) Folding chair (optional) Water or whatever Clinton WMA Shotgun Range 26 New Jersey 173 Hampton, NJ 08827 Attending: 1. 22. ALBANY — The number of firearms being seized by police from individuals found to be “likely” at risk of harm to themselves or others has soared so much in the past year that evidence rooms in some State Police barracks have had to be reconfigured or expanded to store the weapons. The increase follows an executive order issued last year by Gov. Kathy Hochul that mandated troopers file court applications for “extreme risk protection orders” whenever they encounter a person who is believed to be a danger and in possession of a firearm. The “Red Flag Law” was enacted in 2019, but last year Hochul also signed into law several measures that expanded who may file an “ERPO” petition to include health care practitioners who have examined an individual within the last six months. The law change also requires police and district attorneys to file extreme risk protection orders when they have “credible information” that someone is likely to engage in conduct that could result in serious harm. In 2020, judges issued protection orders against 255 people across New York. This year, in just over four months, the number of individuals subjected to emergency or temporary risk protection orders topped 2,120. And between 2020 and last November, State Police had seized 2,521 firearms under emergency protection orders — a figure that does not include seizures made by more than 150 other New York police agencies More here ---> https://www.timesunion.com/state/article/gun-seizures-ny-soaring-year-extreme-risk-law-17916948.php#:~:text=ALBANY — The number of firearms, expanded to store the weapons
  23. Trap refers to the machine, not the sport. In both skeet and trap, the structure where the clay target thrower (trap) is housed is called a trap house..
