  1. This is TONIGHT'S (Tuesday, April 29th - 7:00 PM at town hall at 400 Witherspoon St.) event: http://www.lwvprinceton.org/events/12thcongressionaldistrictdemocraticprimaryforum 12th Congressional District Democratic Primary Forum 2014posted Apr 17, 2014, 5:09 AM by Ellen Kemp [ updated Apr 17, 2014, 5:16 AM ] Tuesday, April 29 at 7:00 PM Witherspoon Hall (formerly Township Hall), Princeton LWV-Princeton Area will co-sponsor, with Princeton Community TV a forum for the four Democratic primary candidates for the 12th Congressional seat currently held by Rush Holt. The candidates Upendra Chivukula Linda Greenstein ("Confiscate, confiscate, confiscate") Bonnie Watson-Coleman Andrew Zwicker
  2. We had one right next door last year. What happens is that it's not uncommon to have a sow den in a built-up area, the cubs are born in the Spring and then need to find their way to some habitat that is less suburbanized. In that move, the new cubs are often seen wandering through housing areas with people. Usually, they move through and keep on going. Thus, the 'boat horn' suggestion (which we took) is probably a good one. As a result of this incident, the chief NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife came to town and did a presentation on black bears. Here's what I learned, and the answer to what I specifically asked him: (1) you should leave black bears alone and let them make their way out of your area (2) if they become habituated to people/your area and a REAL problem you can call DEP F&W and they'll come (3) if they are on your property and you shoot them you're likely in trouble (fines, discharge laws, etc.) (4) if they break into your house (happens all the time) that's different but they'd better be coming toward you/threatening you when shot (5) if attacked by a black bear DON'T play dead - they EAT dead things and they'll eat YOU (unlike grizzlies)
  3. Thanks. I think the folks in question may have been savvy enough to have seen something on Facebook even though the settings are "private."
  4. The store was in their mother's legislative district at the time - isn't that classy???
  5. I saw her too ... didn't get a chance to ask if her sons are still in prison.
  6. Does anyone know if one of those "for-cost" on-line background check programs (like abcheck.com) can pull up a record indicating that a NJ resident has an FPID??
  7. Look, the guy said, publicly "we all live comfortably with New Jersey's gun laws." If you agree with a major politician getting away with saying that, unchallenged, then fine. I realize he's not running for another term ... there's a good chance that one of the "confiscate, confiscate, confiscate" ladies will go to Washington.
  8. I will be there. This is ostensibly a discussion of "all the other civil rights" but not necessarily gun rights. Yet, many of the legislators that have sponsored anti-gun legislation will be there. These same folks, but NOT Dr. Alieta Eck (since she is an 'R') will ALSO be at: http://www.lwvprinceton.org/events/12thcongressionaldistrictdemocraticprimaryforum on Tuesday, April 29th at 7:00 PM at Princeton Town Hall. This is ANOTHER opportunity to confront "Confiscate, confiscate, confiscate" folks who think they can run for national office (Rush Holt's Congressional seat) without being challenged on their record against free Americans. Be there, be vocal. People need to HEAR you.
  9. "When our Constitution was framed, the signers envisioned our country to be one of citizen legislators—people who lived their lives in the private sector, but took off for a time to serve their country in the Congress. They did not envision career politicians who would become entrenched in Washington, DC and soon lose touch with what is going on back home. Many politicians are thinking of the next election and who they can favor in order to win re-election. That is not me. If I became a Member of the House of Representatives, I would pledge to follow the Constitution even when it might seem unpopular." Dr. Alieta Eck Right - so come to the forum and ask the Democrats why they have abrogated their oaths to support and defend the Constitution.
  10. Fox & Friends played the "New Jersey veteran Nicholas Purpura lectures the NJ Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee on the Constitution" video this morning at around 6:45 saying that it had "gone viral." The only problem is that the video is from LAST YEAR, February 13, 2013. Please email Fox and Friends at [email protected] and thank them for covering the story of rights under attack in New Jersey, even if it is A YEAR LATER. Sheesh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvMn9hAPmjM
  11. Now, you have an opportunity to come confront the Democrats running for the seat he will vacate: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/68674-civil-rights-candidates-forum-in-princeton-5114-700-830/#entry870770 This forum includes Linda Greenstein, of "Confiscate, confiscate, confiscate" fame. Won't you come and finally RESPOND directly to her comments?? You can ask questions!
  12. Next Thursday, there will be an open forum on Civil Rights (gun rights ARE civil rights) and Liberties in Princeton, NJ. The candidates running for the Congressional seat (12th District) that Rush Holt will vacate include: Upendra Chivukula (D) Linda Greenstein (D) Bonnie Watson Coleman (D) Andrew Zwicker (D) Alieta Eck ( R) ALL candidates above, EXCEPT Alieta Eck, have been sponsors or co-sponsors of the many so-called gun control bills in the NJ Senate and/or Assembly in the last several years. Linda Greenstein was one of the infamous three Senators caught chanting "Confiscate, confiscate, confiscate" on open microphone last year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56KCBxADL64). Please come and ask your questions! This is YOUR opportunity to QUESTION New Jersey legislators who want to carry their anti-freedom views to Washington DC. RSVP recommended - https://www.aclu.org/secure/nj-12th-congressional-debate
  13. The latest on Drake - may hear more on Friday 4/25: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/apr/21/supreme-court-declines-hear-challenge-nj-gun-law/
  14. Remember, the focus will be on "justifiable need."
  15. I totally understand your point; I know he's on the way out ... AND I refuse to see a sitting US Congressman make a public statement like "We all live comfortably with NJ gun laws" go unchallenged.
  16. Thank you! I remember when Democrats actually stood up for 'minority views'
  17. Recently, Congressman Rush Holt (Twelfth District New Jersey) stated in a newspaper article "... we manage to live quite comfortably with New Jersey's gun laws." I decided to write him (since he's clueless) and fill him in on exactly how uncomfortable, and unconstitutional, they are. I received a more-or-less form letter back, along with a handwritten note that said: "Perhaps you do not live comfortably with New Jersey's gun laws, but if so, you are , I am sure, in a clear minority of New Jerseyans. Your view of the Second Amendment, while legitimate, is also clearly in the minority and neither is it in keeping with current jurisprudence." Please, take the time to write Congressman Holt and let him know how "UNCOMFORTABLE" New Jersey laws are. The problem with most of these folks is that they NEVER hear an opposing viewpoint: Congressman Rush Holt 1214 Longworth Building Washington, DC 20515 Thank you, SD By the way the "view of the Second Amendment" that he objected to, expressed in my letter, was as follows: "First of all the Second Amendment conveys no rights as you have implied. The Second Amendment does not ‘grant’ the right to keep and bear arms, it is simply a prohibition against government infringement on the natural right to self-defense by use of arms, which is protected, yet not contained within, the Second Amendment. That is because Madison, Jefferson, Washington and our other founding fathers recognized that unalienable rights are self-evident, from nature and not to be ‘granted,’ nor trodden upon, by governments."
  18. Is it within the realm of possibility that they actually do not have the votes to pass it in the Senate?
