  1. The Rev. Rob Moore ran a pro-North Korea demonstration the other night in Princeton advocating negotiating with the despot. What a loser!
  2. For AR platforms, if it becomes necessary, there is a replacement bolt catch that converts to single shot, which should address the semi-auto restrictions, which do not apply to bolt action rifles. Bolt is held open after every shot. Better workaround than non pistol-grip stocks, fixed mag/breech loading etc. $50 or so.
  3. I'm glad to see that someone other than me is monitoring. Don't forget Assembly L&PS also.
  4. view the web version of this email New Jersey: 2018 Brings Bigger Challenges for New Jersey Gun Owners A new Governor took the reins from Gov. Chris Christie this week, and a new Legislature has been sworn into office. However, much will remain the same in the Garden State, including the annual onslaught of anti-guns bills being put into the hopper in Trenton. The real danger this year is that anti-gun lawmakers have expanded their majorities in both chambers to the largest margins in decades, coupled with having potentially one of the most anti-gun Governors in the history of the state. In the coming months, we anticipate large public hearings on a number of critical issues. It's essential that gun owners remain vigilant and participate by attending hearings and communicating with their lawmakers at the appropriate times. Despite having some of the most onerous gun laws in the country, New Jersey politicians are still aggressively pushing their political agenda. At the end of this week, 72 bills dealing with "weapons" have been introduced. By way of disclaimer, some of those bills included pro-gun bills and issues like stun guns, but only a tiny minority. The vast majority of these bills were bad measures intended to punish law-abiding gun owners. It's important to remember that not all of these bills will move. Some of them have a single sponsor and will sit in the hopper like they did for the last two years. However, based on the election rhetoric of new Gov. Phil Murphy and anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, they plan to aggressively push a number of these issues. Rest assured, NRA will be there every step of the way fighting against these relentless attacks on New Jersey gun owners. Some of these restrictions are so over-the-top that, even if signed, their constitutionality and ability to withstand judicial scrutiny is questionable at best. What we do know, is that overwhelming participation by NRA members does make a difference. Look no further than last January's gun range bill. After thousands of messages from gun owners, lawmakers opted to shelve the issue for the year. It is going to take that sort of Herculean effort to withstand this barrage. New Jersey gun owners are used to fighting, and this year is going to require a renewed sense of urgency. Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated as this legislation is scheduled at the Statehouse, and also provide you with ways that you can take action and make your voice heard. 6. Now available ... stripped lower for making a black a salt rifle
  7. Here's our Senator: "Thanks for your thoughts, it’s going to be tough going with the democrats’ majorities. Hopefully we can continue to push back on some of these onerous proposals."
  8. If the Democrats thought that illegals would vote Republican, you'd be able to see The Wall from space.
  9. Here's the 'promise' list from his campaign website. Note that he favors registration: Specifically, as governor Phil Murphy would: Sign commonsense legislation that Christie vetoed: Phil Murphy would start by signing every piece of gun violence prevention legislation that Governor Christie has vetoed. These bills would have enacted bipartisan and sensible solutions, such as keeping guns out of the hands of gang members and domestic abusers. Mandate gun safety training: No one should be able to purchase a firearm without first attending a gun safety training course. Promote smart gun technology: We must regain our position as a leader in the smart gun movement by requiring all gun retailers to carry at least one smart gun once they are commercially available. Keep guns out of the hands of those suffering with mental illness: New Jersey already requires background checks, but it should follow the lead of nearly half the states in the U.S. and require timely reporting of mental illness episodes to the national background check database. Tax gun sales to prevent violence: All gun sales should be subject to a tax that will fund law enforcement, drug treatment centers, and mental health services. Strengthen regulations on gun transfers: Phil Murphy would make it a crime to sell guns without conducting a mandatory background check, and would require individuals to register their firearms kept in the state. Work with neighboring states to promote gun violence prevention: An estimated 80 percent of guns involved in crimes in New Jersey come from out of state. As governor, Phil Murphy will engage partners in neighboring states to find common ground on gun violence prevention efforts. Direct the Attorney General to vigorously defend our gun laws: Governor Christie has allowed the Attorney General’s office to relax enforcement of our gun safety laws, including laws that prohibit illegally transporting guns into New Jersey from out of state. As governor, Phil Murphy would direct the Attorney General to vigorously defend and enforce our gun laws, rather than to act as an agent of the NRA.
  10. Phil Murphy vomitus in his speech today: "We have long had strong firearm laws that have kept guns out of the wrong hands and at the same time protected the second amendment rights of sportsmen." Apparently, only sportsmen have rights. Golfers get pistols, female teachers get mace. R-i-g-h-t Philistine.
  11. That's the problem (S548): 47 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
  12. S548 contains a serious error - (c) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a thumbhole stock; (iii) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; (iv) capacity to accept an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; (v) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; (vi) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned; (vii) a manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; or (viii) a semiautomatic version of an automatic rifle, shotgun or firearm Since there is an automatic version of the Glock pistol (Glock 18) this would ban all Glock 17s, right? It's under the PISTOL heading.
  13. d. The superintendent shall ensure that a driver’s license or 45 identification card embedded with information affirming the holder 46 is qualified and eligible to purchase and receive a rifle, shotgun, or 47 handgun: 48 (1) can be and is rendered operationally disabled for the A1286 GREENWALD, JOHNSON 4 1 purposes of purchasing or receiving a firearm if the holder becomes 2 subject to any of the disabilities set forth in subsection 3 c. N.J.S.2C:58-3; Oh this is great. So, if in someone's opinion you are disqualified for disability your FPID on your driver's license can be remotely disabled at will by the government. In other words, your rights can be switched on and off without you knowing about it.
  14. Christie will have the final word on the bump stock ban, which passed unanimously. My guess is that he will not veto.
  15. 3,000,000 applications to BATFE for FFL license coming ...
  16. What do you expect from someone who won't stand for the Pledge of Allegiance?
