  7. Let's pare that list down a bit...  *on the premises of a church, synagogue, or other established place of religious worship.  *On the premises of a Hospital licensed under the Health and Safety Code  *On the premises of a nursing home licensed under the Health and Safety Code  *Amusement parks. Amusement Parks means a permanent indoor or outdoor facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the public that is located in a county with a population of more than one million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on the premises at all times. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area. But then, if you look at the very last line...  Items above marked * Do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06. So...Church/place of worship, Hospital, nursing home or amusement park without a VALID 30.06 sign = carry is allowed. I also noticed that you crossed out "secured area of an airport"...there's no place in the country that anyone other than a sworn law enforcement officer is allowed to carry in the SECURED area of an airport...outside of the secured area?...yep, several places...but not in the secured area.
  8. If the weapon is "concealed", nobody should know you have it unless it's needed...then, they'll be thankful you have it regardless of the presence of any signage.
  9. This is a valid 30.06 sign... these are not valid and carry no weight in the state of Texas..
  10. They just changed the law to exactly that...if you're asked to leave and don't, it's a citable offense. Otherwise, leaving after receiving verbal notice is not an offense at all.
  11. this came up in my CHL class yesterday. The instructor said that a restaurant with a bar will not usually fall into the 51% category but a bar that serves food probably will. Any place that falls into the 51% category is required to conspicuously post a specific sign at all entrances. It looks like this...
  12. The 30.06 sign must comply explicitly with the regulations in order for it to carry the weight of the law...i.e. MUST be 1" letters on a contrasting background, MUST be in English and Spanish, MUST be posted in a conspicuous location. I was at the Dr's office and noticed that their sign was small black lettering at the bottom of the glass next to the door and was only in English...I let them know that it wasn't in compliance and the desk clerk said it didn't matter. There was a DPS officer (State Trooper) in there who heard the conversation and he stepped up and told her that it "Most certainly does matter. With the current signage, anyone could carry a concealed handgun into their office and be within the law." I love it when LE backs up a citizen who knows the law...he told me that he didn't even see the sign and thought it was odd that they didn't have one. They also just changed the law so that the penalty for not honoring the signs is now a misdemeanor.
  13. Gov. Abbott went a step further by aboloshing the Gun Free Zone requirement from all Texas National Guard locations. Unfortunately, he can't do anything about the stupid Federal restrictions at recruiting centers. “It is with a heavy heart that I issue this order,” Abbott said in a press release Saturday. “After the recent shooting in Chattanooga, it has become clear that our military personnel must have the ability to defend themselves against these type of attacks on our own soil,” he said. “Arming the National Guard at these bases will not only serve as a deterrent to anyone wishing to do harm to our service men and women, but will enable them to protect those living and working on the base.” http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/Texas-Governor-Orders-National-Guard-To-Carry-Guns-On-Base-316880921.html
  14. What needs to be fixed other than we should have Constitutional Carry? We'll have open carry and Campus Carry starting in January...but you'll still need a LTC for open carry.
  15. We took the class yesterday and both of us passed with flying colors (red for me and more of a maroon for the wife...I use poly coated bullets for reloading). Both got perfect scores on the written test and she shot a 246 of 250 while I shot a 242 due to a few head shots from 15 yards after I knew I had already shot a high enough score from 3 and 7 yards to pass. I figured that I'd already passed, why not have some fun. My 45 shoots 15 yard head shots quite nicely.
  16. Every time I buy a new gun, it gets a thorough cleaning with brake cleaner before the first round goes down the barrel. It breaks down any gunk and cleans it out really well using the little red straw that goes in the nozzle. After the brake cleaner, I soak the deep down parts good with PB silicone lube through the straw in the nozzle and finish off with CLP or a similar gun lube on the rails, trigger mechanism, recoil spring, etc. I watched my father do this for years (he used Rem-Oil) and I've carried the practice into my own adulthood. When my wife got her Shield a few weeks ago, she wanted to take it straight to the range...so we did, against my protests. She commented on how "gritty" the trigger was and complained that it kept stovepiping. She shot two boxes of ammo and then we went home and I cleaned it like mentioned above. Took it to the range the next weekend and it ran flawlessly with a nice smooth trigger. As a matter of fact, she used it yesterday to qualify for her CHL and shot a 246 out of a possible 250.
  17. I can see a fat lady concealing this in her matching size 5X stretch pants...she could tuck it into a cellulite dimple on her hip.
  18. About 98° here in Houston today with 80% humidity...hot but not unbearable. This signature is AWESOME!!!
  19. If you like 135 grain you could start reloading and do your own. That's what I did for my wife's Shield. She didn't like how snappy the 115 grain was so I got my hands on a small pack (25) of 135gr RN and loaded them for her. Now, I have ~1000 of them loaded up and sitting in my ammo cabinet. This signature is AWESOME!!!

    gray glocks

LGS I was at today has a Gray G19. It's pretty much auto primer gray. This signature is AWESOME!!!
  21. that's a true story. This signature is AWESOME!!!
  22. Not sure what "green" ammo is but I haven't noticed any difference the few times I've actually bought ammo and gotten small primers. I think it may be a cost saving effort on the part of the manufacturers. This signature is AWESOME!!!
  23. When I first started reloading 45 a couple years ago, Blazer was about the only SPP brass I encountered. While loading the casing tubes this morning, I was coming across a lot of Federal and Fiocchi brass with small primer pockets. Don't know when they started switching but for anyone loading 45, it's something to be aware of so you don't pop a primer on the press. This signature is AWESOME!!!
  24. Gotcha...I've only heard GHB used in reference to a date-rape drug...and I saw your earlier references to SHTF situations. Most recent one I can think of is Sandy...and before that the "Halloween Snowstorm" in the NW portion of the state.
