  1. I did not follow too closely but there were changes about who is responsible for membership management at the last club meeting. Also at the meeting I saw a big pile of new cards that (I assume) were not mailed for some reason. There are plenty of numbers to call at the bottom of newsletters (see on website).
  2. Be a patriot, choose born and raised American! You do not want to end up with a sleeper KGB agent
  3. Just some phone metadata, what can go wrong - http://arstechnica.co.uk/security/2016/02/the-nsas-skynet-program-may-be-killing-thousands-of-innocent-people/

  5. http://newbrunswicktoday.com/article/city-hall-admits-former-nbpd-director-firearm-was-stolen-2013 article is a little bit light on facts but it is clear some (former leos) people live by a different set of rules.
  6. Well, we almost put a person into a prison for saving some squirrels...
  7. There is another article that says jurors were explained about trigger and had a chance to squeeze it for themselves.
  8. I was thinking about getting some training. ShootNJ seems to have comparable to those above courses. For example "SAFTD Skill Builder Pistol I". Are they any good? How do you choose where to get your training?
  9. Want to bet that Hilary Clinton negotiated successfully on much harder issues with much more motivated and extreme people than any of 'gun people' ever will be? I do not like her but what you are saying is - "I do not want to talk with anybody who does not agree with me".
  10. They have different set of facts. The will be no progress until both sides stop seeing people with different opinions as enemies.
  11. I studied how fbi background check worked up to 2008 while I waited for 5-6 years for my check to complete for immigration. Congressmen and First Lady could not help because by law background checks do not have time limits. There are several notes: - I had supposedly best immigration lawyer in New York. Thing is lawyers do not fill your documents. Paralegals do. And my specific paralegal made every possible mistake in forms you can make. If FBI really paid any attention they had to dig through all those mistakes to get to the truth I only imagine what less than best lawyer offices do. - fingerprints had very short life span before they are backed up to magnetic TAPE storage. FBI could not physically retrieve those records unless there was a high profile criminal investigation. So, I had to do my fingerprints every 3-6 months. I guess it was every time FBI touched my case. There were many other inefficiencies and waste of money that were reported regularly by GAO. Like spending $150mil or so to a new fingerprint database and then discarding it because it did not work.
  12. When was it about freedom, liberty or fairness? It is a nice tale, but there is no trace of it in history it seems. More I learn about past more I appreciate life we have now.
  13. Beats me. I am surprised every time I hear it. Personally so far I put a couple hundred rounds in every new purchase literally next day.
  14. Add a little bit of money, bargain hunt and get a gun without compromise. Unless you know exactly what you are doing skip rifle and ar15 for now or you risk to be that dude who bought ar-15 many years ago and finally had time to shoot it for the first time. I am not talker, and chatted with dozen or so people at the range last year [and it includes 'clay shooting' crowd]. I met three people who bought their firearm 3-4 years ago and tried it for the first time.
  15. Agree on NJ. Local cop told a story that somebody complained about people not stopping on stop sign inside of our neighborhood (no drive through streets). They setup a post and first person they caught was the one who complained Stop signs and speed limits are ignored everywhere in NJ by both civilians and all kind of LE/FD etc. Do not agree on Brooklyn though. I think road signs in Brooklyn are completely invisible to local people.
  16. I mostly drive locally and see all kind of stupid all the time. I got a dash cam a couple months ago to record crazies. Sure enough everybody around became very polite; there is nothing to show so far
  17. It was pleasant to watch but I felt they were re-telling episode 4 in a new way, that's all. There was a certain silliness in how one of the heroes acquired new skills by looking up and to the side. Not fair to others unless hero turns out to be some kind of robot or they discover later they all are in the Matrix I watched 3d imax and I think it is time to change how they shoot movies. Selective focus just does not work right in 3d. When subject in foreground is out of focus it becomes a cloudy blob even if you look at it. So despite of being 3d you really can only look into where cameraman wants you to look. You cannot observe a whole scene without it getting strange. This is not how it works in the real world. Also giant heads when they do close-ups look weird.
  18. 'American Sniper' widow: Gun control won't protect us http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/opinions/taya-kyle-gun-control/index.html
  19. This is couple days old news, but it is not the first case. My wife had to switch bus a couple weeks ago because they found suspicious bag in the under storage. And somebody else in a crowd mentioned that it was his second time switching busses for this reason.
  20. If you want to stay in reality and put an image of flag in there then it should be American flag with a hole in form of NJ State line in it. More seriously if you want to bring more new people in then make card without any images or with politically neutral images, like target or something. Text could have some idea. For example: njgunforums.com because you know you are the first line of defense for you and your family because target practice is like yoga etc
  21. You can buy a new one on apple credit card with 18 month 0% credit. Sell it after 3-4 years. This will be about the same money wise as getting an old one and throwing it away when it breaks. Macs break just like any other laptop. And don't ever put it near to any liquid.
  22. There is another article on cnn about where nra money are coming from that says only donations are used for political causes and not membership fees. It makes me much more comfortable with being a member. Article also says that most of NRA money are coming from membership fees and therefore it is a voice of people
  23. I am NRA member and I'd rather see them doing education and competitions instead of playing in a political movement. Current NRA leadership is a poison that does everything to make as wide gap between gun and not-gun people as possible. They are part of the problem and none of the solution. I bet NRA will lose half or more of their membership the moment gun clubs stop making it requirement.

Most of the events on weekends are a whole day affair and you spend it mostly walking and waiting and not much shooting. I just got a shotgun to do sporting clays. Event is quick, and plenty of shooting. There is also PPC on weekdays, precision tactical rimfire etc.

It is philosophical question. How bad do you want it? I have work with long unpredictable hours, bunch of kids from diapers to teenager and in between, photography, crossfit and shooting. Somehow it all works together. Of course it helps that both obrpc ranges are 5 minutes away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shquazmK8BE
