  1. Some of the above I am afraid there are not many places in NJ to shoot safely those guns.
  2. I have both red dot and irons on m&p 15-22 and practice with both of them every time. I am going to have a rifle with optics as well and practice all of them equally. I do not know what I will be able to see over longer distances but I have a lot of troubles seeing targets at indoor range with iron sights. I know they supposed to be blurry when you do it right, but for me it is blurry beyond recognition at 20+ yards.
  3. Ruger American is interesting. I did not know about it.
  4. I am looking to get a bolt action 22lr rifle. I want it for target practice, most likely with a scope. I am not going to hunt. I already set my mind on CZ 455 American or Varmint; held them in hand and they feel and look great. But I want to give a chance to american made product. Is there anything similar in quality and price ($350-450) our there? I already have m&p 15-22 and do not want 10-22
  5. I am interested in first aid class + CPR. Count me in.
  6. I see something like this every visit to Jersey City, Bronx or even just upper Manhattan. There is also some special a..e with FDNJ plates who passes cars in a local two lane road with double line between lanes and 25mph speed limit. Saw this happen more times I care to count. My favorite is when I stopped on a red light but car behind passed me on a right side and made left turn on red light.
  7. Squarespace will work well for you since you have zero experience. I had a bunch of sites on wordpress and other applications that I hosted myself. In the end I switched to squarespace so I do not have to spend time on maintenance of things that do not really matter. Squarespace have some weird issues from time to time but they eventually fix them. Support is fast and helpful. They have a trial, so why not try them to see how it fits you.
  8. I use Filtrete Under-Sink Advanced Water Filtration System from 3M for many years. Works just fine and easy to maintain.
  9. Setup gmail account and enable google voice. Use new phone number for free for all phone spam. I joined nra last year (in order to join OBRPC) and never got a single call from them. Opted out of all their emails. I get mail from them once in a while, but it is manageable.
  10. Keep nose up and better things will come your way!

    PPQ M2 vs Glock 19

Get them all. Play with them. Sell what you did not like/use after 1 year.
  12. I entertain idea of moving out of NJ. This is what I found about local range at one of the possible destinations - http://www.lonepinehuntersclub.com/defensefund.html (pdf in the link). Here in nj I have both indoor and outdoor in 10 minutes driving time radius. Not so simple over there obviously.
  13. Both my m&p15-22 and Buckmark eat thunderbolts just fine. But 50 rounds of thunderbolts are dirtier than 1000 rounds of whatever before them. Also they are "outdoor" rounds because there are a lot of smoke when you shoot them.
  14. I have m&p 15-22 and I am left eyed/right handed. Maybe I need some advice or more training, but operation of rifle is very uncomfortable and cumbersome. I tried it on the right side just for test and it worked out much better - everything is more or less in the right places. I am not interested at the moment in AR but I really liked rifle with side charging upper in recent hickok45 video. When I get into AR it is something I most definitely will be looking for - lefty with side charging upper.
  15. I had Nokian Hakkapeliitta once and several sets of Dunlop Winter Sport M3 on my Subarus. Both are fantastic.
  16. Many Crossfit events are collecting money to veterans and military. I am trying to participate in those when I can. This is one of the most simple ways to do it. I prefer to do donations targeted to a specific goal though. For example I donated to a fund for families of 19 firefighters who died last year in a wildfire but I would think long before donating to let's say Red Cross (just for example). This year all donations go to help Ukrainian volunteers and military. Those brave men stood up to protect homeland despite of common idea that 'government never did them any good' and despite the fact that many in government are criminals and traitors. Guess government does not equal homeland. This is probably not the answer Steve was looking for though.
  17. Yes, but you are not working in service department in dealership. There are some really bad places to fix/maintaine a car and unfortunately at least one of them is subaru dealership Personally I go to a small independent shop that specializes on subaru as much as possible and to official subaru dealership only when absolutely needed.
  18. Head gasket issue that gave Subaru bad rep was with some models like 15 years ago afaik. I had wrx'04 for 7 years and I am driving wrx'12 now. 0, nada, zilch problems.
  19. I know this is somewhat off-topic but you can go into pretty much any IT company in NYC and ask what is their biggest problem. Most likely answer is not taxes, is not government or minimum wages. It is hiring [the right people]. It is even worse; our company have open IT positions that we cannot fill in both NYC office and in Ukraine (we have partners there). There are more jobs than talent in many IT areas. And on completely side note; out of about hundred interviews I did in the last couple years almost everybody was a first or second generation of immigrants.
  20. I am pretty sure copy-key machines with a different design were in lowes for several years now. Has nothing to do with government, but with owners thinking about their bottom line.
  21. There was a research into effect of increase of minimum wages some time ago. It was between PA and NJ (increased minimum wage) restaurants on different sides of river. If I remember correctly there was about 50 restaurants on each side in research. Minimum wage increase did not affect NJ side in any bad way; in fact their numbers were better across the board comparing to PA's.

    Happy People

Found this documentary film about life in some remote parts of Russia. All four parts are four hours long total and are must watch for any survivalist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbhPIK-oBvA (there is also original in Russian there)
  23. Scratch that. As luck had it my wife ordered something from other company and her package was sent from the same town as Ky Gun Co' purchase. Got apologetic email from Ky Gun Co and that's all.
  24. I sent them email yesterday with suggestion to fix inferior packaging. I did not ask for anything. They did not reply but UPS just reported that they sent a package my way. Let's see how they handle when something goes wrong.
  25. My package with .22lr came tonight and it also quite damaged inside (but not outside). Three plastic boxes are broken, several rounds are damaged and four rounds are missing. It looks like it is a result of bad packaging but where did those rounds go? I did not see any holes in a package but I had to tear it apart, so it is hard to say for sure.
