  1. I spoke with FIU, the permits are issued for 90 days and will automatically extend for another 90. The only way it will not is if the chief goes into each permit and manually stops the extension. Also, there is a lot of information about the epermits on https://njsp.org/firearms/forms.shtml
  2. http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/brickarmory.shtml
  3. Just answer yes, estimate the time period, and provide a letter from a physiologist indicating you are not suffering from a disability that would effect your ability to safely own firearms. It's in statute, you will not have any problems.
  4. "Machine gun" means any firearm, mechanism or instrument not requiring that the trigger be pressed for each shot and having a reservoir, belt or other means of storing and carrying ammunition which can be loaded into the firearm, mechanism or instrument and fired therefrom. Ammunition" means various projectiles, including bullets, missiles, slugs or balls together with fuses, propelling charges and primers that may be fired, ejected, projected, released, or emitted from firearms or weapons. If I read this right, a machine gun needs to use ammunition. The definition of ammunition would not include bb's because it does not use fuses, propelling charges or primers. This "machine bb gun" seems to be legal. Also the gamo whisperer was tagged illegal because of the "suppressor."
  5. Looking briefly, all the cases I was thinking of dealt with out of state people transporting through new jersey. No one had an FID card.
  6. I agree the FID card allows an individual to carry a shotgun or rifle; however, I think you should consider the intent of the law to allow the individual to go hunting or the range. The current climate would discourage anyone from carrying a long gun just because they think they are exempt. In addition, I'll have to do some real research but in the last few years I have heard of some people getting convicted of transporting their firearms improperly.
  7. The statute says "all weapons" so if you ask me it means "all weapons" and not limited to just handguns.
  8. As I understand it, a permit is good for 90 days. On the 91st day the permit has expired and by strict interpretation you can not extend an expired permit. Now I am sure each chief can interpret this differently. I don't think the njsp was wrong in saying you can't extend an expired permit. But I also know they have said you can extend a permit two days after it was issued so it would be valid for the 180 days. Nothing is written about when to extend, just the validity of a permit. An extension can happen anytime on a valid permit.
  9. If you have ever seen a doctor for mental health reasons you need to answer yes to the question. More visits are being reported and the question asks have you ever, not what do you think is reported. Answer correctly and explain the visit. By answering yes you should also provide a letter from a "physician" indicating you are not a threat to yourself or anyone else and you can safely handle firearms. The only way to DQ you for answering yes is if you were adjudicated mental defective or refuse to get a letter from a doctor. The doctor who provides the letter does not have to be a psychologist, it can be any licensed physician. Don't look into this question to much, it's not as bad as you think.
