  1. I'm looking into the Mossberg Maverick 88 model. Seems to have a lot of tactical accessories made for it. Less then $250 for the gun and prices for the mods are cheap. Should be a fun project. I already have my Winchester 1300, but that was given to me from my father so I don't wanna mess with that one
  2. One of the things I would like to do is get a basic home defense 12g shotgun and start modding it into a tactical shotgun. I think something like that can keep your interest at a low cost for a while. I already have a Winchester 1300 Defender in the closet, so wanna get something to mod next.
  3. I'm sort of in the beginner stage of really getting involved. I honestly hope I never lose interest like you did. Protecting your rights/family/self isn't something I think I wanna lose interest in. Maybe try building yourself a tactical shotgun, or start researching AR parts or something like that to rekindle the interest. Hope you get back into it fully soon!
  4. I figured they had to be using a distributor of some sort because I know they don't have that much inventory. I wish more of the gun shops could have actual inventory new/used listed online and up to date like RTSP. Would definitely make a lot of our lives easier when looking for our next purchase.
  5. Pretty much this, except I was also born/raised in NJ. I don't think my wife will ever leave. I'm hoping as the kids get older, they decide to move outta state so it'll give the wife a reason to finally leave also.
  6. P7 is much sexier... This... Doesn't even compare to this... Or this... Or even this... Ok I'm done...sorry.
  7. This is the carbon cleaner I picked up, and I use a nylon brush on the piston.
  8. Either they finally redid their online catalog/store or I just never noticed this part of their website. I remember as early as a week or so back their "catalog" was a bunch of drop down menus and lists. They have an actual store up now and their prices look pretty decent for a lot of their stuff. http://store.simonpetersport.com/
  9. Yes, I read that there were a lot of accidental mag drops because of the release on the American version, and that the heat shield didn't do much good. ogfarmer, definitely keep us updated!
  10. ogfarmer, any news on your HK or have you gotten a chance to meet up with your guy?

I'm going to keep my eye out for a deal on the Ruger SR9. She held that also while we were there but said the grip was too large. The grip strap was curved out and I think that was why, or she's saying she didn't like it cause she knows the SR9 is one of the guns on my list and knows I'll end up shooting it more then her LOL! If you see any deals in the Morris County area on the SR9 let me know. One of us will be interested.

Thanks for all the great input so far. We have a little bit before we make the purchase so all the info is great. I don't want to go crazy price wise because being her first gun, who knows if she'll shoot it once or want to go to the range every week. RTSP has a used M&P 9C, so we'll see if she can take a look at that.

Talking to my wife, she feels uncomfortable without a safety on the gun. Are there any comparable ones similar price/size with a safety? Might have to go back to the store and start trying out what fits her again.

My wife won't really know the difference as far as the trigger is concerned. I guess my biggest concern is the lack of a safety on it...but maybe that's just more being paranoid about the "what ifs" instead of trusting the common sense and training aspect. Everything I've read or seen on this pistol is it's an ultra reliable pistol at a great price.

Also, no mention of a safety? Any info on that?

Anyone here personally own this "budget" 9mm? My wife and I went to the store the other day for her to feel out some 9mm for when her permit comes and she actually like this one the best. The 4 or 5 reviews/youtbube videos I've read/watched seem to hold this gun in pretty high regards for what it is. Basically, a first timers intro 9mm...which is exactly what her purchase is intended for. Seems, the only gripe about the pistol is the trigger which can be fixed for a $20 spring. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757962_-1_757752_757751_image
  17. Really? I must be looking down the wrong aisle. Any tactical/range bags, stuff like that? I have looked a few times and never find anything gun related. I've also wandered around that Walmart for 45 mins looking for bathroom storage units and then realizing it was back by the paint after I asked an employee. Stupid me figured it would be by housewares and the towels and stuff..
  18. Hackettstown Guns and Ammo has lowers for $70. I was in there today with my wife. She was holding some 9mm to see which models fit her hands the best. EDIT: They had 2 different ones...one was Anderson, I didn't see what the other one was.
  19. Walmart here in Mt. Olive barely sells knives let alone anything gun related. Wish they would.
  20. Gotta love "Gun Pointed At Head" Selfies...
  21. I believe the original owner actually bought it in Germany.
