  1. I've been in the 25 yard room when it's busy and there were only two ROs in the room. Don't know if more ROs could have prevented this. Like AverageJoe posted though, they're gonna find a way.
  2. 2nd trip back to Woodland Park Range for me and 3rd time back for my NJ resident friend. Had another nice relaxing hour of fun and safe shooting. There was a mix up with the pistol we rented - we rented a M&P Shield chambered in 9mm but when we got to the point, we had a Glock 19, it was a 9mm and we had ammo for it, so we started shooting it. 10 rounds into shooting, an RSO came over and said they made a mistake and brought us over an M&P (not Shield) 9. Again, we didn't care, we were there to work on squeezing the trigger without jerking or pulling the gun. 90 rounds later, another RSO came over and said they made a mistake again and finally brought over the M&P Shield 9. We didn't realize the Shield has a short grip (good for carry) and couldn't get a solid grip like we did with the full bodied Glock and M&P. Anyway, we didn't mind the mixup since we basically got three rentals for the price of one, and my friend knows he wants a pistol with a full grip. PS. This post is not meant as a bash on the Shield line of pistols. I'm just used to being able to get all three fingers on the grip. I think you can put a rubber bumper extender on the mag to achieve that?
  3. I hear you! Everyone needs to let their voices be heard on election day. I'm on a Long Island firearms forum and we're hoping Rob Astorino will be elected as governor and start overturning Cuomo's "SAFE" act that was passed overnight last January without notice nor review.
  4. Thanks for the welcome everyone! Sounds just like how all the different police agencies in NY responded about the SAFE act! I checked the banned list and the banned features list. At least you guys get to have one banned evil feature! We can't even have a pistol grip on our semi-automatic rifles and we're limited to 7 rounds in up to a 10 round magazine, unless at a range, then we can have 10 in a up to 10 round magazine. Thankfully, Christie vetoed the 10 round magazine law for you NJ! The above is exactly how I transport my firearms from Long Island to upstate New York, because New York City has that same exact requirement. Appreciate all the detail you put into the post! I found it helpful and if it was complicated, we can only thank the politicians.
  5. I'm in Nassau County on Long Island in New York. Nassau County has about a 18 month wait for a plain target pistol permit. CCW is not too common here, but not as bad as New York City.
  6. Hi folks, I'm actually a resident and firearms owner from a neighboring state - New York. Not sure which state is more oppressive with our second amendment rights. Anyway, I joined this forum to learn more about firearms laws in New Jersey since my friend just moved to NJ and would like to get into the sport. Specifically, I would like to find a definitive answer to whether or not I can bring a NJ "safe" firearm in a locked case from New York to a range in New Jersey without a New Jersey Firearms Purchaser Identification Card. I've gotten yes, maybe, and no from people working at ranges, stores, and one retired PANY/NJ patrol officer. By NJ "safe", I mean something like a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle with absolutely no evil features, as defined by NJAC 13:54-1.2 subsection 2i. We're going to visit the New Jersey State Police station in Totowa to ask for their opinion on Sunday ... hopefully someone can give us a clear and concise answer.
