  1. Latest Email from the NJSP. As we speak, the State of New Jersey is in discussion and in the process of working out the details to return firearms to anyone who had delivered a firearm to Brick Armory for gunsmithing service. If your firearm(s) was transferred to Brick Armory for consignment sale and you are seeking the return of same, you will be contacted in the near future with information on how to re-acquire the consignment gun. This will be completed through a state and federally licensed firearms dealer. Any firearm transferred to Brick Armory from a third party (in state or out of state) that was sought to be acquired via, i.e., internet sale, sale/transfer from a private person, sale/transfer from a federal licensed firearms dealer in another state, and Brick Armory was chosen as the dealer to complete the transfer, you will be directed to another state and federally licensed retail dealer to complete the transfer. As more information becomes available I will update you accordingly. I ask that if you know anyone who may be in one of the above situations, please pass this update along and be ready with proof of purchase, consignment invoices, or gunsmithing records. If acquiring permits in a timely manner is going to an issue, contact the New Jersey State Police Firearms Investigation Unit and we will attempt to assist the issuing authority. Thank you for your continued patience. Det. I. 2. This is a great shop. I did 2 transfers and Tom did a great job on NJ conformity of a James River AK-74. Tom modified it in 1 day in order that I pick it up before a 3 week project trip out at Edwards AFB. Also bought a M1-22 for a great price. $100 less than what I saw it for in a gun shop in NY near my father In laws. All of the folks there are very friendly! I will do more business there and highly recommend them.
  3. I just read the following on FaceBook Brick Armory site. New owners set to open the range by Dec 10: "First priority of the new owners is to reopen the shop and the range." I hope they will be able to affect the transfer of the privately owned weapons back to or to their rightful owners in a timely manner. Its been a long wait. I left a message for Steve Pisani to call me to verify the above information and hopefully the ability of the new range to do the transfers.
  4. Additional info on Brick Armory from NJSP: Brick Armory and its contents were seized by the New Jersey Division of Taxation on July 31, 2014. This brought on a unique set of circumstances for the Division of Taxation and the logistics became an issue. The matter has been forwarded to the State of New Jersey, Office of the Attorney General, by the Division of Taxation legal council for review and legal opinion to determine how certain firearms (I.E. consignment guns, gunsmithing guns and guns paid for but not received by the buyer), may be returned to their owners. We have no information on how long this process may take or what legal decision will be made by the State of New Jersey, Office of the Attorney General.
  5. Latest info emailed to me from the NJSP: Currently, all firearms are stored at a Division of Taxation facility. The Division of Taxation controls the firearms and this process, the New Jersey State Police, Firearms Investigation Unit is only assisting their efforts by providing guidance according to New Jersey Firearms Laws and Administrative Code. Through your email's and other paperwork we found with the firearms, attempts have been made to separate all of the consignment guns, gunsmithing guns, and guns purchased and awaiting transfer from the actual Brick Armory owned inventory. Although information provided to you has been minimal since the beginning of this situation, the intent is to provide you with an update the first week of every month to help disseminate any new information. This process may take longer than expected, subsequently, monthly updates maybe necessary. Consider this the update for October 2014 and in the event anything of significance is learned prior to the next scheduled update, you will contacted and advised accordingly. Please be patient as the Division of Taxation understands your concerns and is progressing toward a resolution. Numerous phone calls have been received by the Firearms Investigation Unit regarding the issue of permits pending expiration. The answer for this problem is to extend your permit for an additional 90 days if time allows and/or applying for another permit as it is unknown how long this process may take. You may email or call with any questions or concerns.
  6. I left a message asking Steve Pisani ( NJ Div of Taxation Investigating Agent) to call me, reference a Saiga rifle I had at Brick Armory when it was closed. He called me on Monday, 8 Sep and told me that the NJ Division of Taxation was working with Brick Armory with the intention of reopening the business if issues could be worked out. If that did not happen he said he would contact me and tell me where I would be able to go to claim and pick up my firearm from a secure location controlled by his office.
