I don't need any headaches. Just a shame legal gun owners are so harassed in NJ. It's otherwise a great stateMight be illegal, but it'll still cost you a hell of a lot of headache and maybe money...
Better safe than sorry!

So the bottom line is I won't get arrested, but it might buy me a bunch of trouble

Hollow points are illegal? I bought hollow points in the store a year ago. How can that be? Also, what is PC other than politically correct? If pulled over for a MV violation and observed by the officer, it could be PC for a search. Even an empty ammo box on the back seat could be PC. Dummy round hanging from the rear view mirror. However, if that dummy round has a hollow point bullet, guess what, possession of hollow points, as it's the bullet not the cartridge. At that point, hopefully one of the exempted allowances kick in (to/from hunting/range, store, etc).

LOL, that's funnySpent brass exemption article 23 may only be transported to recycle center.
kidding of course
Serious Friendly PSA about spent brass and those with kids that go to the range...always check their pockets before they go to school!

I was at the range tonight and after picking up brass, I put one in my pocket and placed it near the dash in my car. As I was driving home contemplating the nonsense against guns in jersey, I started thinking, could that one empty 22 casing in my car get me arrested?

I have written to many a US representative and Congressman, but lost in state government. They will be hearing from me. Thank you for the information and encouragement.

This is ridiculous, my handgun is just as safe with 7 or 10 per magazine, what's the logic here?!

Its by far, not enough, but considering the current anti-gun climate in the media and the push by Obama to obliterate the second amendment, I am glad to see a step, albeit small, in the right direction. Now let's pick up the fight from here and take another step!

That really made me laugh, lolI would lay it right on the kitchen table in the open. And tell the guy working on the place "my gun is on the table in the kitchen, I'm off to work, I expect it to be there in the same spot when I get home". Problem solved.

Actually, no I haven't. Just bought this, my first gun 8 months ago and my apartment is 2 rooms.Come on, do you mean to tell me that you can't find a decent hiding place anywhere in your apartment? Could you stash it in a duct or something?
Didn't you ever watch Breaking Bad?

Never thought of that.Pick up a cheap safe and screw it down to something, was in harbor freight today and saw one for $29.00.
Not ideal but a hell of a lot better than in a drawer.
When i bought my first gun almost 40 yrs ago i made sure i had a safe to keep it in. Biggest fear was coming home to someone pointing my own gun at me.
I thought only of easy access if I need it

In 2 weeks, my landlord is having workmen come to remodel the bathroom, (there is a problem). It will take a few days and I can't get the time off work. Of course I am concerned about security of my belongings, ESPECIALLY my handgun. I only have a 2 room (1bedroom) apartment. Right now its in my nightstand drawer. I thought about hiding it in the closet, but that doesn't seem much better. Any advice???

Thank you everyone for your responses! I appreciate the info. A family member has a bb gun from 35 years ago and was asking questions. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the NJ laws are on BB guns, pellet guns and air rifles? Or how to find out?
Is brass legal?
