I don’t think Gov. Bucky intends to comply with the SCOTUS ruling. So I imagine it will be a long row to hoe before any CCW permits in NJ get approved.

Sorry to be a Debbie downer in the short run, but I do believe it will happen. Eventually.

Right and on other comments re obstruction…right.  They will create endless hoops and restrictions that will require another lawsuit.  Like… can’t carry with 15 miles of any public or private school.

I don't know that the death penalty would even work. It seems there's a weird psychology to these mass killers in that they follow a similar pattern to people who commit suicide. In other words, they often PLAN to die as part of the attack... they're killing themselves, but also trying to take a bunch of others with them (in some twisted attempt at going out in a blaze of glory, I guess?). What can you do with sickness like that? I don't think a death penalty would phase most of these people in the slightest. Harden schools, train staff repeatedly to follow the security policies, and have MUCH better, faster intervention when these guys are poppng up on the radar screen at school, at home, etc. - and of course, for those that go on to kill, deprive them of their fame (infamy really) with greatly altered/subdued reporting therefore cutting down on copycats - I think those are the most sensible approaches.

That said, some tiny percentage of psychopathic murderous individuals will ALWAYS be a part of society (always have been and always will be). You can't will it or wish it away entirely. And if you remove one tool from them, they'll move to another. To this day, the worst U.S. mass school killing remains the Bath School Massacre - look it up - been almost a hundred years old now and no guns were used. Determined madmen will find a way. Likewise, Australia has had plenty of mass murders since their gun ban - they just used arson and burned people to death. That's still HORRIFYING! (I don't even kill ladybugs, so this is something I can't even wrap my brain around). But, there's always going to be a few sick outliers like this.

Some people propose raising the age at which young people can buy guns. I don't know about that. You have to ask yourself, are kids today so much less mature than in the 1950's? So much less responsible? And if so, why? And should we be allowed to draft them in that case? Or, let them get abortions? Or, let them take hormone blockers, etc? It opens up a whole can of worms that no one seems to want to deal with seriously.

Outstanding points if the problem attempting to be solved were mass murders. But leftists aren’t trying to solve that problem.  The problem they are trying to solve is how to neuter the public and have them become docile and powerless.  They want the guns to go away.  Exposing their motive would be potentially helpful if the media wasn’t corrupt and working with socialists and leftists. Hell..they ARE socialists and leftists.  All they want is a seat at the table and a share of the pie for themselves and those in their circle.  They all want what the Biden and Clinton Klans have been getting for themselves for decades.  The wealth is out there for the taking if they can get control of everything.  Thats what they want. Our guns are just another risk they want to eliminate.  They could not care less about dead kids.

  3. I don’t know about the toxins but they have that soft middle that I wouldn’t expect to burn well.  They are also a pain in the ass to get rid of. Root suckers will popup after you cut it down. Yet another thing about China we can hate.

  4. With inflation as it is, anything not making gains to match it, is a loss.  But what you do depends on how much you are depending on that 30 to 40k at the end of the 2 years.  If its imperative you still have it in two years then any investment with potential for gains may be too risky.  Two years is a short window.  Not much time to recover a loss.  Sure, you could get lucky with an index fund for example, but you could also lose a chunk of that money if the timing is bad.  If that’s a situation that will force you to alter your plans in two years, then it may be better just to avoid any loses and not worry about gains.

A new fab won’t help the current chip shortage. It will take Samsung several years to build the Taylor chip fab, and another couple of years to get a good yield.

Long term, it’s a great move for Samsung, but don’t expect it to help the current issues.

Chip production is a very dirty process. All kinds of nasty gasses, acids, and other chemicals are used in the processes. The EPA, OSHA, and many other .gov agencies are constantly up their asses about working with these materials, and the disposition of the waste.
    Regulatory nightmare.

That was one of the major reasons much of chip production moved offshore. Places like China don’t have the regulatory and environmental concerns most of the rest of the world does.

I realize the benefit is long term, but at least one company taking that path.  Maybe they’ll have an easier time with regs in TX.  Can’t avoid the feds...but less grief from the home state may be helpful.

I thought there were going to be 2 more seasons. They have a lot to wrap up….

I was hoping for more than just season 6 but I hadn’t seen anything specific talking about how many they had planned.

Seems like they could do a spin off of sorts that that’s place in the time gap in the series.  If the series is making money, why not do it?  But thats always the issue.

Or...if Bezo’s still likes it...he can do as many seasons as he likes, just because he wants to.  Hell..if I were him...I’d do it.  Bar change for him.

    what?

A ways back in a discussion, it was mentioned by some with some experience here in the semiconductor industry that it would take too long and cost too much $$$ to build semiconductor fabrication plants in the US.  This article seems to contradict that view.

Was wondering what the semi industry people thought about this project by Samsung.

sorry but wasn’t specifically directed at you, thought it reads as it was.

i know i'm sounding stupid....but prop gun. should only fire blanks. makes sense. what kind of movies are gonna fire live rounds?

Unless they manufacture “prop” guns with special chambers that can not fit a round with a bullet, I suspect they are capable of firing live rounds.  But if its possible to have metal fragments lodged in the barrel, someone needs to design new prop firearms. Or do really complex CGI.

  9. Data Centers do this with N+1 generator arrays. I don’t deal with those kinds of systems, but they are likely expensive as hell and way too big for a residential generators.  As I think about it, they probably feed the generators in the very big inverters, which is where the sine wave out is controlled.  3 phase in their case. Also accepts a feed from batteries to maintain power during the generator start process.

This may be a problem requiring too much stuff for a typical house.

It may be easier to break out the panel to be fed by two different generators. One for lights and similar loads plus critical stuff like a fridge.  Then the other larger gen/panel for well pumps, AC units, furnace blowers, etc.

I've got another friend on NJ Comcast, and I think she watches FNC all the time. I'll check with her. Should have done that already.

Without knowing what the outbound feed topology of FNC looks like I have no chance at all. That's why I tried to get at least two points of reference for someone who does. FNC did respond to my inquiry and said they forwarded my complaint to the broadcast department. I'm not holding my breath. But I'll report if I ever get an answer.

In the meantime, if any one else has seen this issue let me know. I know it's not that big an issue even for me, but my curiosity as an ex-broadcast guy is going to keep me after it. And when it happens it's annoying.

Drop the TV portion of cable and all of the set top boxes.  Add Hulu Live for $55/ month.

But if you still want a phone line, their lowest priced triple play may be the cheapest option. Maybe as low os $65 but for high bw internet, cld be $100+.

we went from $265/month for cable with a bunch of stuff we didn’t need to 75 for cable without the premium crap and 55 for Hulu.

Hulu isn’t the only choice.  There are also a couple of free options though I am not familiar with those services.

  11. Kids have been going out to parties, etc with backpacks for years.  Most of them will have a water bottle filled with gin or vodka.   Plus whatever other stuff they feel they need to lug around.  Seems like a pain in the ass to me.  I guess minors who can’t get served would stash booze in it.  Other than that and your wallet, what the hell would you need to carry around?

  12. Make sure you have only compliant stuff if you bring em here.  It would suck if PD ends up responding to an alarm and finds a bunch of stuff.  Or your divorcee decides she wants to screw you over and makes a false claim of abuse and mentions firearms.  Even if you did nothing wrong, it could become problematic.

So.. 10 rd or fewer mags... no flash hiders....compensators pinned.... adjustable stocks pinned... etc etc..   I suspect you already know this stuff, but wanted to mention it.
