  1. Right, make guns illegal. It worked with drugs... Didn't it??. Ahhh....guess not. I agree that this won't be an open Q&A type event. It will be a marketing campaign for their agenda and a membership drive for the anti gun groups. My suggestions is register and take up all the seats.
  2. This is the first time I've heard about this. Yes that sucks and was a scum bag move on their part. They essentially entered into a contract with these buyers and reneged on it.. What's with the AIDS wish?
  3. Clearly, I don't know much about pistols chambering 5.56. Thanks for the education. The log doesn't bother me so much. Just the annoyance of wanting to see my FID. I don't normally carry it around because I don't want to lose it. I'll won't be buying ammo there again.
  4. Did a few searches. Couldn't locate anything related. If this is true, Nikki Haley (SC Gov) needs to gather the facts and then make a phone call to Christie to rescue her constituents from this swamp. This state is like a speed trap for CCW folks from other states. What problem is being solved by arresting CCW permit holders from other states as they visit or pass though here? If anything, they may find themselves in a position to save someone's ass while they're here. I'd like to see Christie try to equivocate on the logic behind this. edit: why would a family from SC contact the NJ2AS in this situation? To find a lawyer? How would they even know about NJ2AS or know how to contact them?
  5. Copying this post from another thread. This seems like a better place for it. ===== New favorite Gun Shop.... Howell Gun Works: I've only been in the store twice. Saturday will be the third time, but Howell Gun Works was a good experience. First time in there I mentioned it had been many years since I was active in shooting or hunting. I had some questions and despite being very busy, Omri answered my questions. I ended up ordering my bolt action that day. He was taking good care of everyone in the store despite being solo due to a family emergency. I was a bit paranoid about sounding ignorant and maybe to a point I did in fact sound ignorant, but Omri was friendly, informative and wasn't at all put off by my noobish questions. It was a good experience for me. I was back in a week later and the other owner Tom was also there, plus the rest of the staff/familiy. I asked a few more questions while waiting for the NICS to go through Both Omri and Tom were very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Looked at few more guns. Ordered another long gun and picked up some other stuff I needed. I think the prices are good. Their 5.56 ammo in 20 round boxes was cheaper per round than Dicks or cabellas "bulk" prices. Despite being a small shop, they have what looks to me like a good inventory. And if it's not there, there's a pretty good chance they can order what you want if you know what you want. They're a new shop, so I'm sure they know and remember what its like to be on the other side of the counter. And it shows.
  6. That's a ways off... I'll make sure I check out CJRPC. Been to the website quite a few times. Will check out when visitors can stop in and will make time to do it. Thanks.
  7. Makes me inclined to not bother going there for Ammo if they want to impose more requirements. I could see them asking for a DL before they remove the ammo from their locked storage.... It's not that big of a deal, but I don't think I like retail stores adding to the regs.
  8. There was an email coupon for 12/20 ga. target loads. So I figured I'd get some. I already bought the last couple boxes that HGW had in stock. While I was there someone else was buying some 5.56 rounds that were also on sale. The clerk told the buyer he needed to see his NJ FID because anything that was a single projectile (as opposed to a shotshell with bird/buck shot in it) required thems seeing and recording the FID info. 'State law' the kid says. I had no time to stick around but I plan to go back and speak to someone with more experience. I know someone there is a member at CJRPC. And a number of other guys behind the counter shoot. So I'll ask them about this "requirement" of theirs. Seems like a store policy or they just don't understand what the law actually requires them to do. I don't know of any production handgun that was intended to shoot 5.56 so no idea why they would have to record 5.56 sales. The only thing they should do is request to see proof of age. And they do that at check out. Anyone else run into this at Dick's or anywhere else? Here's the relevant law.
  9. Thanks for all the hellos. And thanks Sparks. I'm hoping to get to Range-14 in the next couple of weeks. Will probably bring my 5.56 and shoot if they're not totally jammed up. If there's a long wait, I'll just be checking it out. Looking to do some skeet shooting as well at some point. I'll PM a few days before I head down there. If you're free and can meet up, that would be cool with me. Trying to introduce my son to shooting aside from getting back in myself. I also wanted to get to CJRPC and find out more about that. It's actually the closest range to where I live as best as I can tell. I'm on the south side of town. Is that Union Hill Rd range going to be strictly pistol?
  10. This shit is infuriating. LE (in general) wants a disarmed public. Quite a few have told me personally. A LEO said this to me. "I'd rather know I'm the only one with a gun when I respond to a call." I was younger and dumber when this was said, so I didn't respond by saying, " Are a fucking idiot? Do you think disarming ME is going to disarm the MF'ers that don't get their guns from a gun shop???" Yet, this is the mentality we are faced with and you can bet it's what Fuentes thinks. Yeah. I know I never met the man, but I'd bet serious cash that this, or some variant of it is what he and those who helped him write that crap think. The goal... disarmament. The plan... long term. Infuriating.
  11. Yes, very sad day. I can remember watching it either at the tail end of the original series run or right after in syndication. Some years later, Channel 11 at 11:00 was a regular thing when could manage to stay awake as a kid. I guess that was the late 70s. That continued through college on a 5" b&w tv. God Speed Leonard.
  12. Thanks. 10X, I wasn't saying that man can't affect the earth. I'm saying there's no valid evidence that it's happening now. But, as was mentioned above a volcano spewed out more so-called greenhouse house gas that humanity has in its existence, yet here we are still. So maybe the impact some say we could might not be the case.
  13. If anyone is still checking this out, I just bought a Mossberg MVP Varmint in 5.56. Very little experience with it so far but I do like it. Skip the scoped model and buy your own. The bipod is ok. But you can pick your own. List is 599.
  14. WTH.... Maybe not exec order but I just listened to a report on FNC showing .223 ammo talking about an AR15 ammo ban ATF is working on. A comment from ATF said essentially...nothing to see here folks...go away. Why do I not believe that. When the hell did these agencies get the unilateral power to do whatever the hell they wanted to do? I'll have to look into this more but if anyone has any info.......
  15. Well, last Saturday I waited a little more than 90 minutes. They're gonna need to find a new acronym without an "I"
  16. Welcome... I just got here myself.
  17. Howell Gunworks: I've only been in the store twice. Saturday will be the third time, but Howell Gun Works was a good experience. 18. Ok, for a laugh. George Carlin 1992 ish. Some expletives. So if you're at work, keep it low.
  19. Hi Fishnut. I think my comments above might have wandered into political discussion. So I'll keep that out of the discussion going forward. On your question on glaciers, the proponents of GW cherry pick events or data. And actually, sea ice in the southern hemisphere hit a record high in 2012. Aberation? Maybe, but that record was broken in 2013 with even more sea ice. And there's the irony of that Russian GW expedition getting stuck in ice near Antarctica in 2013 as they set off to document the lack of sea ice down there. But more significant was the fact that the area they were stuck in was named for the first person to visit that place way back in the early 1900's. Sir Douglas Mawson was his name if I am getting this right. Funny thing was. Photo's taken of Mawson's expedition show that area ice free back in 1910 or so. Having been involved in engineering, technology and a helluvalot of math over the last 30 years, one glaring issue I have with all of the reports and projections being tossed about is the point made above. We're on a rock that's about 4 billion years old. And we have people trying to predict trends using data that is first of all... incomplete...(and manipulated to support their conclusions) ... and second so short relative to the cycles and periods of time where these variations exist is..... well..... a statistical nightmare. The only thing we seem to know now, after you set aside that corrupted data and projections based on it, is that not a whole lot has changed in 1000 years. Right now it's a little cloudy and the light levels in the atmosphere seem to be less than they were yesterday. I'm concerned that our planet is headed into total darkness by the weekend. That's how I see these claims made by the global warming crew. The fraudulent manipulation of the data is a whole other matter. but hey.... I pick up a new Beretta on Saturday!
  20. Actually, a lot of smart people have concluded there's no evidence that the world is getting warm in the short or long term. But leftist media squash that and organizations on board the warming train squash it. Or try to. And we know that toxic waste being pumped in massive quantities into the air is a bad idea. It just so happens that carbon dioxide isn't one of that toxic substances. Just ask a tree. No disrespect intended to anyone here. It just drives me nuts that even the global warming loons don't believe in global warming. What they do believe in though is wealth redistribution. And global warming lunacy is a good way to make that happen.
  21. Right. Especially when people like Hansen at the Goddard Institute change the data from the past to make it look like certain places are getting warmer. "Hey, if we make the past... Colder.... It'll look like it getting warmer!!" Nice try by the frauds. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/globalwarming/11395516/The-fiddling-with-temperature-data-is-the-biggest-science-scandal-ever.html
  22. Hi folks. Was searching for info on transport and came across this forum. Found a ton of good information. Thanks to those who apparently have spent a -significant- amount of time answering questions and organizing the information here. Been out of the loop for a long time but just bought a 5.56 bolt action and a Beretta A400 12 ga. Looking forward to getting to some ranges and doing some shooting. Kevin
  23. The problem is Essex and Camden counties and to some extent Hudson, outweigh the votes in the other counties that support the 2nd Ammendment...and are actually sane.
  24. Yes, agree. Classic. And Gutfeld was right on the money.
