  1. I was talking to some friends about guns and someone asked if you can buy a gun without a Drivers License because not everyone drives? Can they use a State ID or Passport? Also, if the answer is yes, and they don't drive, can they take mass transit home or have someone drive them? Some of my friends live in NYC and there is enough mass transit where where you can usually get everywhere by bus/subway/train/cab. I know this is a strange question, and if it doesn't deserve an answer, please delete the thread.
  2. So all my references and Employment has been been sent back. So: 3/6 - submitted application 3/11 - got fingerprinted and added 3 additional p2p to current application 3/12 - 2 references received and mailed out references 3/18 - HR mailed out Employment confirmation now it's a waiting game...
  3. Thanx for all of the great suggestions. RTSP and Ramsey Outdoors are kind of close to me. I'll have to check out L&H also.
  4. So then would there be an issue with getting ammo for the 22 rifles too?
  5. So I'm in the process of waiting for my paperwork to come back from my local PD. While waiting, I've been doing tons of research on what I want to get in terms or handguns and rifles. I am looking mainly for target practice, but home defense is also on my mind. Given that, I have made up list of what I am looking for: .22 handgun (Ruger, Walther) .22 rifle - either semi or bolt (Ruger, Savage) 12 gauge shotgun (Mossberg) 9mm handgun (Walther, Sig, Glock) So that being said, I started to look into checking out the firearms. Are there any stores in either NNJ (Sussex, Essex, Passiac, etc...) where a person who doesn't have a FPID yet can look at guns? Thanx, Pete
  6. Finished my fingerprints and got a copy of the form back to my PD. I also asked if I can increase my number of P2P since the application is just in the beginning stages and was told that it's not an issue. Going to add 3 more for a total of 5 permits. Also, all my reference letters went out already. So far, pretty smooth and the Record clerk is very nice and helpful. I guess the clock starts ticking now...
  7. Would it be safe to assume that if it is sold in a NJ Dicks or LGS, then it is legal? Maybe I should just go to a store to research.
  8. Isn't this covered under an exemption where you can transport a legally owned firearm from place of sale to home to range? I'll probably wait for the FPID and permits to arrive first. I just wanted to know what rifles are truly silenced and what have shrouds that do nothing but look cool?
  9. My son is 12 - 5"3, 95 lbs. We shoot airsoft at home and at the indoor fields, but want something a little more accurate. He's a good shot with airsoft right now.
  10. No hunting - just plinking and target practice.
  11. BB and Pellet - Pretty crazy, eh? I can actually get it out of state, but I wanted to know what I can actually get that's legal.
  12. I'm looking to get an air rifle for myself and my son to shoot. Since you cannot have a "silencer" on an air gun (Gamo whisper series, Crosman Nitro), what would be considered a good air gun to get? It can be sub sonic and will be mostly used for target practice. Will probably get a Ruger 10/22 when I get my FPID, but you can't shoot those indoors. Thanx, Pete
  13. Well, I submitted my paperwork for a FPID an 2 pistol permits today. My fingerprint appointment is next Wednesday and the reference letters will go out next week. I was told the letters go to my 2 references and HR at my office. The employee reference is just to get proof or employement and length of employment. All references are sent with a SASE so hopefully they will come back quickly. Lets see how long this takes.
  14. Thanx for the updated info Carcano. They said the process will take about 2 months. Let's see....
  15. I live in Hardyston and am in the process of getting a FPID. The clerk said I needed to give my manager's name in the employers box so they can contact him. My problem is that my company was acquired 5 years ago and my manager is not in NJ but in IL. Should I give them the home office address or just have them send the reference to my local HR? They also ask for next of kin as well as Birth Certificate or proof of citizenship. I was doing this to make getting air guns for my kids easier, but might as well get real guns if you have to go thru all of this hassle.
