  1. $140 for the application, $10 for prints (max by State law), and then $75 for the class and proficiency test. Submitted everything on 12/18 and don't expect to hear back from them for several months given everybody is getting a LTC now. I have an active PA which cost $10. I'm almost positive I just walked in and walked out with one same day. I also have an out-of-state Utah which was quite bit more. Been living here the last 3 years and the attorney general can't give me a clear answer whether either are valid. He just responded by saying their is reciprocity. PA and Utah say they are still valid irrespective of the move but I didn't want to take a chance.
  2. Got that right, took 3 minutes to pick these up in Texas yesterday. My biggest gripe here is the turnaround time and cost for LTC's! Should count my blessings.
  3. As an outsider who just joined I have to say the response to a thread I just posted was phenomenal. I am not new to gun forums and the feedback I received regarding my question was very helpful. Looks like you have the right people here.
  4. Moved out of NJ in 2009 to PA. My first firearm purchase, a mini 14 from Walmart and then an SR9c from a local shop was interesting. Just walked in and then walked out Being born and raised in NJ in a home without firearms, there was a quick learning curve in terms of understanding firearm safety and gun culture. After getting the SR9c, I walked in the local PA courthouse, gave them 20 dollars, and I had my carry license. Having lived in NJ for such a long time I really appreciate the freedoms I have experienced over the last 6 years. I really have no comment about NJ gun laws, it is what it is and ranting and raving about it from Texas isn't going to make any of your lives better. Just posted a thread asking for advice regarding transferring a pistol to my father who lives in NJ and has never owned a firearm. I have been a member of PAFOA and TexasGunTalk and just wanted to say I appreciate the quick and friendly response. I appreciate you all being non-judgmental with my questions. All the best.
  5. Appreciate the feedback and quick response all. Very helpful. I will tell him to check out this thread and join the board, I think I will encourage him to move forward with the process and then connect with Tier 1 Defense in Mountainside once he gets the go ahead to buy a handgun. From there we could do an FFL to FFL transfer.I'll make sure I don't send him any magazines over 15 rounds. I guess sending him ammo, especially hollow points is out of the question
  6. Yes, he's 69 and the last thing I want is for him to spend the next couple of years of his life in an NJ State prison after arriving to Newark Airport due to not following the laws. Not sure why he wants one now, probably because of the California incident. He is good friend with the Captain of his police department so this process could even more difficult if it wasn't for that.
  7. Hello, NJ born, left in 2012. Question: my father just started the permit process and I wanted to either give him my CM9 or SR40c. I assume family relation means nothing so outside my father getting his permit and me doing an FFL to FFL transfer what would need to be done? What barriers, if any, may we encounter? He lives in Union County, what the friendliest 2a shop? The Kahr is 8 rounds, can you guys have extended magazines 17 rounds in NJ? Thank you in advance for your time, TXGunOwner
