  1. I'm trying to pull together a first-aid kit that is specifically geared towards trauma (GSW, deep stab wound with aterial damage, etc). Leaving out compound fractures, what would you suggest are necessities for the kit? I'm trying to get a good list together before I decide to pull the trigger and make a purchase. So far I have: 1. Suture thread 2. Needle 3. Small forceps 4. Gauzes 5. QuikClot/Celox 6. Superglue 7. Betadine 8. Splint 9. Medical tape 10. Scalpel 11. Medical Scissors 12. Gloves Should there be anything else I should include? Sidenote: The above list was prepared with the assumption that there was still some form on medical/emergency infrastructure still available. In the event that this infrastructure is no longer available, should I be including other things? Also, I was thinking if this is the case, I would probably need to be trained in some sort of trauma first-aid, or at least be proficient in suturing skills beyond closing deep superficial wounds...
  2. I keep an extra (simple) unlocked cellphone with a sim card and an extra battery, plus an extra SIM card. These items are kept in the center console or the glove in a plastic bag.
  3. Very valid points...I think the 1-4/1-6 scope will be my choice. Thanks!
  4. I'm currently leaning on a reflex sight as I'm planning to use my AR as an all-purpose, offensive (SHTF/WROL situations)/defensive gun. So considering the distances, a reflex would probably suit my needs just fine. But I'm also considering the red-dot scope with some magnification since I'd like to be able to use my AR for some medium-distance shooting (100+ yards). So now I'm debating between a red-dot scope or a reflex sight. I've done some research and found arguments for both. I'm wondering if any one here has one currently on their AR and the reasons why you have decided on one (or the other). Alternatively, if you installed something completely different, I'd be interested to learn why as well.
  5. Hi all, new to the forum, new gun owner, but not new shooter. I recently purchased a Savage 320 as my primary home defense shotgun and so far, so good. I think they've taken care of their QC issues (fingers crossed). Took it to the range and it functioned flawlessly, no issues to report. I'm thinking about accessorizing it and among the mods I'd like to do is to 1. attach an accessory rail system on the receiver because I'd like to place a reflex sight on it. and 2. buy a more compact stock. Does anyone here own one and have you added a rail on the receiver? If so did you need to get it drilled and tapped? I've seen a saddle mount made for the Winchester 1300 and some people have reported some success with it, others said it needed a little bit of modification before they could achieve a good fit. Secondly, has anyone tried to attach a shorter stock?
  6. So I'm back and forth at that address quite frequently---about once or twice a month for a few days or more to visit but also can work remotely from that location (which I have done plenty of times before). Is that enough to justify leaving my address on my DL as is since it is more permanent? I mean theoretically I don't have to have an apartment in SNJ, but practically speaking, I'd rather not make the drive to philly or work remotely 100% of the time...When I first started, I knew I wouldn't be buying a property down here and would have the potential to move to multiple addresses, it just seemed silly and inconvenient to me to have to keep going to the DMV just to process the address change and apply for a new license
  7. Thanks Krdshrk...I thought this was the case. So I guess if I had changed my license, I would have probably needed to get my FiD within that municipality. I was only concerned because I have been doing a lot of research and I've read of some people's experiences where they had a difference in the addresses listed on the license and FiD (because they were moving, etc), respectively and the dealer would not allow the sale. Sounds like for now my best bet is to keep my address on my license to NNJ to match my FiD
  8. I'm applying for my FiD in north jersey. I've been a resident of NJ for almost all of my life. However after graduating college, I got a job in philly so I decided to move in south jersey. (In retrospect I should've just moved to PA and I wouldn't have to suffer through this whole process---but it is what it is...). Since I've been moving between apartment residences in SNJ, I decided to keep my old address for my parents house in NNJ on my drivers license to save the trouble of going to the DMV so frequently. So my question is, my FiD application will have an address for a residence in NNJ which will match my DL---Can I keep my firearm in my apartment in SNJ? Or, is there anything in the statute(s) that I MUST keep my firearms in the address I listed when applying for my FiD?
