  1. I bought a pistol off GB and used my range for the transfer. They get my brass and membership. Pistol prior to that I bought local. Cheapest online was only ~$30 cheaper and I got a little off by handing them a small stack of Franklins.
  2. I've used them twice, once for mags and most recently for a few hundred rounds of 45acp. Brand new brass for $0.25/round shipped to my door.
  3. I have a very clear photo of both my DL and FID on file ready to email. A bunch of online retailers request that.
  4. I have a SR1911. If you're budget is $1k, I'd recommend buying the Ruger, some extra mags, get a trigger job and spend the rest on ammo. I knocked 2lbs off just refining the surfaces of the hammer/sear and trigger bow groove.
  5. A little late but the Arex Rex is a Sig clone with ambi safety.
  6. I have the Mod2 9mm sub compact that I put close to 2k rounds through it without one malfunction. I bought 2 extra 13 round mags with Pierce extensions.
  7. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). FID & P2P 2. Police Department where you applied. Red Bank 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Varies. They use different people for each permit. 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 4 months. Did have slight issue with one reference though. 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). None. 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Whoever is handling your paperwork before it gets sent to the Chief has a face to face interview with you. Usually receive the permit 1-2 weeks after interview. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). P2P only. 2. Police Department where you applied. Red Bank 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Varies. 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. 4 - 5 weeks. 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). None. 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). I start calling the PD after 3 weeks. Usually get a call back and schedule an interview within the next week and the permit a week after. You have to keep calling, but everyone in the records department is pleasant and helpful.
  8. Matrix Precision makes jigs to cut rails for 80% 1911's and some other guns. Besides that, you drill a few holes and do some fitting, all hand tools. Check out Mosin Virus videos on YT.
  9. I have a SR1911 too and didn't like the stock trigger, felt like I had to reach for it. I swapped it out for a short trigger ($15 Remington) and couldn't be happier. The short trigger only changes ergonomics by moving the front of the trigger back, doesn't have anything to do with the action. It was drop in so no fitting necessary. Also, a 9mm 1911 is going to have the same frame as a 9mm 1911. Like Genewarper111 said, check out a couple of the Sigs.
