  1. Just drove past Phillipsburg yesterday actually, not all that far. What is the name and location of your site?
  2. Can anyone share some recommendation of places they have used or know of? GFH is $275 for non members, really looking to keep it under that if possible.
  3. I was aiming to get there at 830am but ended up parking shortly after 930. It was surprisingly not crowded. A couple benches taken but I had no issues getting spots and was pretty quite as well as most people were shooting precision so no real rapid firing taking place at any point. It was a nice day.
  4. Thought I'd throw up a few pics from my trip this morning. Signed up for membership last month, the place is awesome. Weather was perfect this a.m.
  5. Seperate question - I have a Magpul STR stock on this gun. There is no pin or hole visible anywhere on the stock from the pin job. They mentioned that they put something in between the little trigger piece on the stock that you squeeze to adjust it, so that it can't be moved. Mentioned that it can be removed if needed, although not easy to do with just your hands on the fly. They made it seem this was a better way to go about the pin, cosmetically anyway. It almost appears like that little trigger piece on the stock is fully squeezed in, and then some internal pin placed somewhere within that mechanism to keep it from moving. Anyone familiar with this method? Assuming since it makes the stock no longer adjustable, even temporarily, it solved the restriction around it. Or am I wrong?
  6. You're a pro welder? Or was that a sarcastic comment amount firing that guy? Where you located
  7. That pin hole is so far up the brake, I don't even know if it's notched into the actual barrel or sitting on top of the muzzle tip.
  8. My first ar so I didn't know any better when I picked it up, but knew it didn't seem right. Did some more research when I got home and then just got pissed. Worst part about it now looking back is how much of a dick this guy was and the stupid comments he kept making. I won't be going back there for anything. Chances you think something like this can be removed without destroying the barrel so I can have it redone?
  9. Never went in there when it was county line, so didn't have any prior experience with them. From my understanding they bought out one of the other owners and renamed.
  10. Disappointing. Glad it wasn't on an expensive upper and the cost for the compliancy work was also not expensive at all. Live and learn but for my first AR it's a bummer.
  11. I was originally going to use monmouth arms but decided to ise this place as it was the most convenient for location at the time. 1 guy there was cool but the other dude I dealt with a few times, who was the one who did the work, was an asshole. I'll never go there again.
  12. I'm not worried about the brake being ruined, it's a cheap basic a2 style brake. But I would feel better knowing I can have it removed and have a new one done by someone else, but I guess there is no way to know if it can be removed without destroying the thread until you actually try and remove it, and then may be too late of it was too deep to salvage.
  13. Point Blank in East Hanover
  14. Sorry not all pics super clear. Had a basic muzzle brake pinned and welded to a new upper. Look the way it should on this style brake?
  15. Anyone have any success with hunting Coyote in NJ or any immediate surrounding areas? Was looking into how to obtain a rifle permit, but I can't seem to find much clear info. Is it as si ple as paying the $2 and receiving it? Or is there a course/live fire involved?
  16. I did... Again, was posting here to see if anyone had any experience with any. Thanks.
  17. That's for the message. I've been reading a lot, and building my check list of necessities to have for when I finally get out. My main challenge in trying to prepare, is figure out a place to go and how to have a resource out there with me so I don't waste my time or an animals life. That was primarily the hopes with this post, to get some recommendations on where or a place to start in trying to find out where to go.
  18. Would really like to plan my first hunting trip for this fall, but my challenge is lack of family/friends that would partake. Ideally I'd like to do a guided trip for my first time out. I'm not opposed to some trial and error in learning the ropes of tracking and navigating on my own, but the guided idea would be ideal because I'll certainly need to learn the ropes on what to do if/when I get my first kill (transport, packing, field dress, etc) I'm clueless so need to make sure I have help. I'd like to plan a turkey and a deer trip (separate trips) and don't want to do it NJ. Open to upstate NY, PA, NH, VT or anywhere within say 8 hours of where I am in NJ. I understand there is alot to learn and know before I get out, but hoping maybe some members here may be able to share some experience or suggestions on any luck with guided hunts or resources they may have with private land, locals, etc.
  19. I know but not quite ready to get out there for spring. For fall od look into maybe upstate NY or PA.
  20. Ah I see so every 2 years you have to go through the same process, not just a renewal with lower fee? Anyone have experience using a different instructor with lower fees?
  21. As far as total cost associated with going through the CCW application process as it stands today, from my understanding there is the fee to the state of NJ for the application (what is that now up to?) Plus the fee for whatever location you're going to do the live fire course (on estimate, how much?) And is that it? Trying to total up the expected cost all in to go through the motions if I were to start the process now. Thanks
  22. Greetings all, Will be picking up my new Weatherby Vanguard in 6.5 CM this week and plan on getting to the range shortly after. I'm new to the rifle scene, and purchased this mainly to have some fun at medium distances at the range, but also would like to plan my first hunting trip come the fall as well. Before I set out to shoot with it over the next week or 2, just wanted to ask if there is a proper break in technic one should do for the barrel? It's #2 contour, 24 inch, and I'll be adding on a JCB Solutions 3 port mini break (already have it). Any pointers so I can make sure I get the most out of this rifle would be greatly appreciated!
