  1. Oh ok didn't realize that I had to fill that out
  2. Where does one acquire a sig coupon to begin with? I want some
  3. What about if your driving to/from a range/shop with firearm and ammunition in car but unloaded and pass through a school zone? Ok?
  4. Please keep me posted! If yours goes through with just NJ FID then mine will be in the mail the next day.
  5. Have been looking into a light to mount on my mossberg 590 as well. I actually bought a clamp with a pic rail on it because I don't want to mount onto the forend. Haven't decided on light yet
  6. I love sigs but kind of feel for a 1911 I want to venture to either kimber or Springfield, but leaning toward kimber.
  7. So today i took a trip to RTSP this afternoon. I have been anxious to shoot my new Mossberg 590 Pump so i took only that with me, and had the intention to rent a handgun to try something new out. Loved the Mossberg! So powerful, and i actually shot it great for being my first time shooting a shotgun in general. Fair warning to anyone else who is new to them - they get HOT fast! I left my shooting gloves home but definitely a good idea to wear them while going through a handful of rounds with a pump. Even if you don't intentionally touch the barrel you'll find at least a finger or two swipe against it as you pump and position your grip for a shot. But loved it, glad i made that purchase. I rented a Kimber 1911 full size in .45. I chose to rent this because i have been looking into purchasing the Custom TLE II. The one i rented i believe said Custom Target on it. The gun shot great, and I shot it well - no complaints there. However, out of the 50 rounds i put through it, i got jammed on 3 of them! So was a little annoying. I would like to chalk that up to the fact that there are so many rounds being fired through those rental guns and they don't get cleaned and lubricated often enough. So i won't take that as a 100% example of how the gun would be new and with proper care. I then traded that one in and since you have to stay with the same caliber when you rent in order to not pay additional, i was limited on .45's that i was actually interested in. I grabbed the 3.3 inch Springfield XDS in .45. I also have been looking into purchasing the XDS 3.3 in a 9mm, because i do not feel i need a .45 in such a small gun. Well, i hated this gun. The feeling in your hand is fine, when your not firing. But once you fire a few shots through it, it eventually started to feel awkward to me. In addition, i couldn't hit anything with it! Overall was not happy with this and think i will move on for now from considering the XDS or the Mod2 from my near future purchases. At the end of the day it made me appreciate my Sig that much more! I think I'm sold on being a Sig fan. Anyways - just thought id share my experience for anyone who cares. Thanks!
  8. 1. Initial FID and 2 purchase permits 2. Westfield 3. Records department initially and the some further communication later on with the assistant to Chief of Police 4. About 27 days 5. Standard documents 6. NOTES - References received their letters in the mail 3 days after I dropped off application, they mailed them back the next day after they got them. Fingerprints completed exactly 1 week after application drop off. About 3 weeks in I received a call from a woman saying they got everything they needed but are still waiting on the letter they sent to my employer. I asked her if she can email me the letter and I would personally take it to a manger to be completed. She was willing to let me do that and email her back a signed copy so they can proceed, but also would need the original at some point to put on file. The way my company works is if it's just a normal verification of employment then any manager can complete it. Anything outside of that needs to go to HR. So when I got a copy of the letter that needed to be signed, it is on Westfield PD letter head and right in the middle of the page it has Firearms Identification Card and Permits to Purchase Handguns, checked off. This was upsetting to me because I don't feel my managers should know my business and thought it would have been a more discreet VOE. So my boss sent it to HR and they completed it and emailed back to me 2 days later. I sent to the woman I spoke with and a few days later I got the call that everything was ready for pickup. So process could have easily been a week or 2 faster if it wasn't for the tie up with the employer letter.
  9. As someone who currently only hold a nj fid and no ccw permits, I am waiting to see how this plays out so I know if I will be approved too or need to get a FL permit first
  10. I was looking into this too as I'm looking for something Easy to conceal if ever needed or able to. But I think ideally it's a little too big for that.
  11. Funny, I recently was shopping and debating between the two as well. I was looking at the m&p sport 2/ruger 556 or a mossberg 590 pump. I like the ar for the fun factor, ability to customize the gun, and overall usage and style. However, I am concerned that eventually you will not only NOT be allowed to buy them, but also be required to forfeit them assuming some ridiculous politician gets their way. So for the time being I went with the mossberg. Was it the best decision? Who knows! But I can always go back and buy the other if I want. Also wasn't sure weather to go with the m&p or the ruger...
  12. Phase 1 and phase 2 as found here? http://www.nrainstructors.org/search.aspx
  13. I have the same intention, go for my Florida and then New Hampshire. What course did you take to submit as proof of completion for the Florida application?
  14. Certainly is a shame, and yes can imagine how haunting that must be for those who witnessed it. But sucks for the people who truly enjoy going to a public range to practice shooting and enjoy their firearms, the media will surely spin it in some way to try and persuade that no one should have access to guns. Will end up being more fuel to the fire of those trying to take away our right to be able to protect ourselves and our families, all because of someone having some sort of mental issue going on. Will be hard for the media and half the politicians to seperate the few mentally ill incidents from the majority who go to a range for a beneficial experience.
  15. I am in union county and i guess would look in the FL permit and then after that go for my NH.
  16. How can you go about finding/scheduling a class that is approved for the Florida permit?
  17. So how many of you guys on here who have existing non-res ids carry on a regular basis when out of state?
  18. More or less, would a NH non-res permit be sufficient? Or is it necessary to look into others such as Texas, Arizona, Maine, and conn?
  19. This thread is confusing. Hard to tell who is getting theirs using an existing non res Id, who is getting theirs using just a nj fid, and who is not getting it. So for concealed carry in pa, the nh and tx non res I'd are best? I see a lot of mention in that thread about a Utah I'd as well.
