  1. don't disagree with this except for the last part 5 shots to you is not excessive? That doesn't wreak of something else? Sorry, not buying that but fully appreciate it's what you can prove vs what you think
  2. strip out the major cities and police work drops to almost 98 strip out the 2 of the highest crime cities and police work drops below 25 we can play this game all day point is, shoot what you see and what you know and in the case of blue, stop protecting shitty police performance and circling the wagons. No one should disagree with this. The problem here is right away it's assumed it's police bashing yet the guy that got caught shooting the perp in the back it's universal, 'wrong, bad etc' but if it's a cop with a bad shooint...'we don't know the facts, it's stressful, you dont' walk in the job' bs...bs!!!! stop I respect all professions and all persons but call it like it is. People are fed up with it including blue families because it makes ALL look bad
  3. yeah but he said he did 2-3k and had short stroking issues. He then put in new bcg and no issues. That should eliminate the gas system. Totally agree the carrier key could have been loose. I would venture to say his bolt is locking up incorrectly. I'd like to see if he changes the just the bolt upon inspection of the carrier. I don't know about stag but he could have a wrong o ring, 2 of them for that matter. Hell, even his ammo could be an issue. don't know, need more info here oh and Shenandoah valley is one of the prettiest parts of America...God Country if you will
  4. oh stop, that has no bearing. Now you sound the like the a$$holes in uniform people detest. You are not above scrutiny and neither are these officers. If you don't know what or who you are shooting, DON'T SHOOT! pretty fking basic Your job does not even rank in top 10 most dangerous in America per the labor stats and strip out LA and Austin and not even top 25, not even top 5 for most stressful so don't preach about 'unless you have done the job' bs. All jobs are unique in their own way with the only exception being that police are publicized more so than 98% of all other jobs. and don't make me laugh with police academy. Is that meant to be a joke; I'm serious?????
  5. issue is not gas system, it will be in the carrier or bolt (extractor most likely and will be lock up time so I'd pull it apart and replace). If OP has gone several hundred rounds with no issue then we can safely assume it's the bcg area. Is the carrier in spec? did you try just swapping the bolts or the whole carrier gas rings ok? agree with JC, did you check the key? OP needs to answer my previous questions first.
  6. target identification is paramount. Why would anyone ever want to take the chance otherwise. Let's not forget, you pull that trigger and the consequences are life changing whether you are right or wrong, your life changes. Now the level of change is dependent upon several factors one of which is did you actually shoot a perp or a drunk kid coming home from the bar
  7. seems like he was not the most enlightened or respectful owner however, 5 shots is extreme and there is 'anger' in that shooting number. I've hit a running coyote, 80yards, just bottom right of the rib cage and dropped him but he wasn't dead. I had to give a mercy shot up close. That's two and this was on a ranch that lost livestock. Anymore than 2 and you are not responsible and not conducting yourself in an honorable hunting fashion. 5 fking shots means that the shooter enjoyed it, had resentment, anger, revenge in his shooting. If he didn't, he doesn't belong behind the trigger
  8. if you need 5 shots to hit a coyote on the run then you need to practice more before aiming at a living animal. I say that respectfully and having gone 'yote' shooting. I fully appreciate the nuisance that predator animals can have on livestock however, 5 shots is extreme
  9. slow down....you ran 2-3k with old bcg and had short stroking issues. You replaced it with a bcg and now it seems to be ok. is this correct? how many rounds with new bcg? How many rounds inbetween with old bcg did this occur?
  10. hold on, it's this attitude right here that has turned much of the public. You are not above scrutiny, you are not above judgement. The truth is, most cops absolutely suck with firearms in the tri-state area. It's appalling how badly trained, how bad the judgement is, and how often accidental discharges occur. just stop with the nonsense and act accordingly. If police cleaned up their ranks instead of circling wagons every damn time something happens, less would detest police. Hell, even some of us with multiple blue in the fam are sick of it!!!!
  11. There are ranges in nyc sorry but no way to justify friendly fire incidents now or the stuff we saw in the past. Every cop during the Empire State incident should have been prosecuted. Police drawing weapons is too common and not enough scrutiny is given. you want the gun, you get the responsibility and the consequences for not knowing restraint from force NO EXCUSE
  12. bear in mind, a piston system is allowing you to shoot more rounds more accurately as a barrel heats up because the barrel is not getting as hot as quickly. Also and tests have shown this, with short Stroke piston designs you can exceed the seven hundred round approximation before you get catastrophic failure. The Piston Cup, made of stainless steel, it's good for over a thousand rounds of sustained fire and everything on the firearm can be quickly disassembled and fixed with a new cup very rapidly and you can stay in the fight. You do not see a gas tube or melting of other items. There are absolute benefits to a piston system very rapidly and you can stay in the fight. You do not see a gas to or melting of other items. There are salute benefits to a piston system on a combat rifle There used to be a couple videos with thermal imaging and heat barometer showing the difference between the stoner design and a short stroke piston with respect and catastrophic failure and dissipation of heat.
  13. a couple of things here. First of all, our beloved a couple of things here. First of all, our beloved Stoner design is in fact a piston per his own patent. Secondly, do not dismiss a piston system because parts do run cooler there is no fouling and they have been proven in combat. While it does add more parts and while it does add more weight, they still work. The way our current AR, and 4 is designed we really do not have a need for the added Short Stroke piston design
  14. 5 shots is not killing a predator dog. 5 shots is emotional, angry, purposeful and a farmer is not doing so unless there is more behind it This was more than defending livestock
  15. I get it, you're just jerking our chain. lol... u got us here. here I thought you were this out of touch and clueless and the whole time u were playing us....touche
  16. so shipping a handgun through ups or fed ex is ok then
  17. thought we couldn't use usps to send firearms any longer? I could be wrong though, been a while as I use fedex currently
  18. they are good, so good they made barrels for Colt for almost 2yrs
  19. For those looking for a good brand at a great price, look here. Granted the bore is unlined but that is really a non issue. GM is outstanding quality http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/gm-m54-16-5-56mm-1-7-twist-finished/
  20. you are not giving up tactical advantage. research flash blindness and you will see that the more light you use, the better off you are given the darkness and in this regard, there is zero debate. As for the assumption OF any kind of tactical advantage, that just wreaks of one bad thinking process here. If a perp is in your house, you want them gone, shooting is the last resort. In fact, if you are upstairs and you hear them downstairs, make noise as there is a high degree of likelihood they will flee. shooting someone is not like in the movies, coming upon someone in your home is not like in the movies and having a face to face with someone in high stress encounter is not like what the weekend warrior classes show you. make noise, have lots of light, cover, 'kill zone/engagement zone' etc all important. did I mention light?
  21. I'm all about the 9th man but in this case, he'd agree with the hive. I don't think anyone would ever, ever suggest that more light is not ideal.
  22. emp is not blowing all electronic items, this is simply not the case. We have studies, historical evidence, and limited testing to validate this. An emp will kill the grid but smaller electronics that don't rely on circuit boards and any discernible wattage regulation, will be fine
