A license shall not be issued to any of the following: ... (ix) A resident of another state who does not possess a current license or permit or similar document to carry a firearm issued by that state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state, as published annually in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the Department of the Treasury under 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(19) (relating to definitions). Now NH has the same requirements but still, they let us obtain it. Is PA the same?

Nope. Under FOPA you are legally allowed to cross into NJ. Under NJ State law, you are within legal grounds to bring your firearms to your new residence w/o any sort of paperwork. All registration is voluntary for anything bought outside of NJ. Your NJ license aka FID is not needed unless you want to purchase firearms/ammo while you are in NJ.

That's probably the dumbest gun law i've heard of in NJ. So the FFL doesn't need a permit to take the firearm but for you to get it back, you need a permit. Pretty stupid buttt this issss NJ!

Title says it all. I don't know how long it takes for people to get back to you but by the looks of it, my message got sent out to 19 FFL's & only 1 has responded to me. Almost on 2 weeks now. The one FFL that did reply didn't even give me a quote on the pistols I requested, they gave me a quote on another I didn't request. Why even bother with it if no one replies? Not like I asked for an antique or very high demand weapon, just asked for a G26 & G43.

Well I just shipped my rifle via USPS! No one even wanted to touch it/send it through (practically barely knew how too) until the manager came and and I had to show them the USPS website stating how to send it through them. After the initial 10 minutes of mass confusion, the rest was a breeze. Thankfully no one freaked out when I told the employee I would like to ship a firearm!

Ah well I just read the ATF website and it states that handguns are not allowed to be shipped via USPS, only contract carriers so count my SR22 out. Way too damn expensive to overnight UPS/FedEx. Guess I will just be sticking with my 15-22. Legal to ship lower & upper together via USPS & a hell of a lot cheaper
