I had tons of light primer strikes when I first built my AR47. I wound up replacing the hammer spring and the firing pin with one designed for 7.62X39 ammo. MUCH better reliability but the GI trigger pull was excruciatingly hard. I put in a nice trigger and all is good now.

I would never trust this rifle for HD or SHTF but it's a fun range toy!:)

The Bolt and firing pin is made for 7.62x39. might replace the hammer spring in the future but 2 out of 200 rounds i can deal with. :-)

FYI - Photobucket no longer allows for 3rd party website hotlinking - we can't see your pictures.  I recommend using Imgur.com as a photo host.

Thanks i will get them fixed :-)

To OP - Congrats.  7.62X39 in an AR should be fine as you have found as long as you use good mags and ammo..

The problem that I see, as you have found is ammo.  ARs are DI guns and require good clean gas/powder (kind of).

Most of the steel cased ammo is "bat shit" fueled.

So my question is how fouled up was the action?

    Good job! and good luck!

Im using Wolf 7.62x39mm FMJ. Got home started cleaning and was expecting a really dirty action/bolt and surprised that it wasnt bad.I used slip2000 EWL to clean/lube so i just took a rag and wiped the bolt/ etc and it wiped off clean, then lubed it again :-) i took 200 rounds and only 2 refused to fire. after repeated striking the primer.but i got 1k for 199.00 so cant complain too much.
