  1. I don't like taking chances with my eyes, which is why I only use ballistic mil-spec rated glasses when I shoot. I love my ESS Crossbow Suppressor kit. Also, my pair of Smith Optics Aegis Arc make for a nice backup or spare pair for when I bring a family member or friend.
  2. I called the NJ State Police Firearms Unit just for fun and asked what I am required to do with my FID card after moving out of the state. The lady who answered the phone said that I "could shred it?" in an inquisitive voice, and said that there wasn't any requirement for me to do anything. Just in case anything happens, I can at least say that I sought advice from the NJ State Police.
  3. The funny thing is I actually would change my address and get an out of state card if it was practical to do so (online system like anywhere else). Most of my family is still in NJ, so I wouldn’t mind having the card just in case I suddenly have the need while visiting. Of course, NJ is about 40 years behind the times, so that isn’t happening any time soon.
  4. I remember looking at the statutes when I moved within NJ to see what would happen if I had not updated my address. The law is 30 days to update your address, but I don’t remember seeing that failure to update within that timeframe was called out as a crime or had any penalty associated with it. Edit: just read the administrative code that Nappen points to. I don’t see it prescribing any penalty for not changing your address within 30 days.
  5. I haven’t run into that situation yet, but it would probably be a factor. It wouldn’t be a determining factor, but it would play into my decision. By the way, it isn’t a boycott mentality as much as just being cognizant that other options exist that *may* fit into my worldview better. If I boycotted every company that didn’t hold my worldview, I would pretty much have no possessions and would likely starve. Anyway, I think we’ve derailed this thread far enough. Back to Sig 2022s!
  6. I tend to agree about it being a blanket ban, but it still doesn’t quite sit right with me. One of the countries in the Middle East isn’t like the others. I’m not about to take my VP9 and film myself destroying it, or even sell it, but I’ll certainly see if there are other competing products that would do the same thing before buying another HK.
  7. I was very close about a year ago to buying a P30 for the exact same reason, but I went with the P320 instead. As for HK and Israel- http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/09/john-boch/heckler-koch-no-gun-sales-israel/amp/
  8. Very true that I do have options. Sadly, I think the P30 is out for me. This might sound strange, or even heretical, but I like shooting my P320 more than my VP9. (I know, different gun, but the similarities are numerous.) My VP9 has the better trigger, but I vastly prefer the grip on my P320. I've tried playing around with the grip inserts on the VP9 and I can find other configurations I like...until I actually shoot it. Then it's the same as always, where it just doesn't feel right, and it feels slippery compared to the P320. I just can't seem to find a configuration that feels like I have a solid grip on it while shooting. The P320 also seems to have less felt recoil shooting the same ammo, which I find odd, since I thought the VP9 had a lower bore axis and weighed more. Then there's the whole HK won't sell to Israel thing (not that Israel needs HK's weapons). That turns me off about HK as a whole. The CZ could be a winner, though. I should probably see if any of the ranges here have one to rent.
  9. I was considering adding one of these a little while back just so I could have a hammer fired 9 mm at a decent price. Never got around to it, but maybe I should take another look.
  10. Damn, this is the first I've seen this. I don't recall getting any emails or anything in the mail. WTF NRA?
  11. Anywhere from 150 - 300 rounds is average for me, but I typically only spend an hour or two at the range. Of course, it all depends on what I'm shooting and what I'm trying to do.
  12. They will go deep. If you ever saw a mental health professional, put it down. Having seen a mental health professional isn't a disqualifier on its own, but not disclosing it is.
  13. My safe is one of the small, under the bed types (able to fit my AR with a mag and a few handguns), so the moving company had no issue with it. Regarding the guns and ammo, I took those with me in the car. With the guns, ammo, and range bag in the trunk, I had almost no room left back there. Looking back at it, I should have had the moving company haul my car (company was paying), and gotten a one way rental of an SUV or something like that. We all gotta make sacrifices.
  14. I would guess that there is no lawsuit because ANJRPC, NRA, et al know that they need to pick their battles due to finite resources.
  15. You can just as easily kill someone with a shot to the leg...Just need to hit an artery. Lethal force is lethal force. Besides, if I’m in a situation that requires me to shoot, I’m aiming for whatever part of them gets me a hit and incapacitates them, whether that’s center mass or their forehead.
  16. I like my Streamlight TLR-2G on my VP9. I always laugh when I use it at the range. It's like using cheat codes. My VP9 happens to be my main HD gun. I'll take a laser at 3 AM, thank you very much.
  17. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were to write it in a way that is similar to how the 2C:39-6 exemptions were. As Nappen has pointed out in the past, those exemptions are defenses in court and the onus is on you to prove that you are within the exemption. I’m sure the onus will be on all of us to prove without a shadow of a doubt that the mags were owned prior to the ban, and if you can’t, say hello to being a felon. TL,DR - I’m not getting excited about them possibly grandfathering anything, as I guarantee they’ll find a way to screw us.
  18. I would add a good sling to that list. You never know when you'll need to carry that AR, and I use it to aim and steady my rifle. My shooting either standing or kneeling has vastly improved since adding my two point sling.
  19. Most of your story sounds like more hassle than it's worth, so I'll stay far away from HG. With that said, I can understand the eye protection thing. The vast majority of sunglasses make for extremely poor eye protection. About the most they'll protect you from is ejecting brass. I'm assuming that HG doesn't want to get sued if something happens and you lose an eye or two. I'm actually amazed that more people don't spend the few bucks for actual shooting glasses from someone like Smith Optics or ESS. They really don't cost that much in the grand scheme of things and you can get both clear and tinted lenses.
  20. I watched it live, but I don't remember hearing if they'll be calling out whether the guns were purchased legally or were stolen. I doubt that they'll publish THAT data. Even if they do though, they'll just turn it against us anyway. "You legal gun owners aren't responsible enough" or some nonsense like that. They'll find a way to use it against us...
  21. So if we know that the guns being used in crime aren't being purchased in New Jersey, why exactly do we need more/stricter gun laws in this state? Edit: Rhetorical question alert.
  22. Minimum barrel length is 16", but a 14.5" barrel is good to go as long as it has a 1.5" long permanently pinned/welded muzzle brake.
  23. I've had my Sig M400 for about a year now, and after 1000+ rounds, it's treated me well. If this is your first AR and have only shot one a few times prior, you probably don't know exactly what you want yet (I didn't know exactly what I wanted when I bought mine). My suggestion is to get a mid-priced AR for your first one, with the expectation that you'll do some upgrades, and build your second (you'll want a second, trust me). My biggest regret with my AR is that it's not a free float barrel. I would definitely recommend that you make that a "must have", simply because once you have that muzzle brake welded on, it's a bit of a pain to change the gas block and other hardware to free float. Edit: Now that I have a better idea of what I like, I'm thinking that my next AR will be free float, 18" with 1/8 twist, feature a mid-length gas system, and be chambered in .223 Wylde. The existing AR can remain as the carbine.
